Hecklers are everywhere (unfortunately). They come with the job (unfortunately). Part of being a good comedian is dealing with hecklers and not losing your cool. You can get pissed, but you gotta keep it light enough that your act doesn't lose the "funny". Nobody's there to watch a fight. They're there to laugh. He lost his fucking mind. He was a public figure that everyone felt they knew on some level and he was trying to be incendiary but it wasn't funny. Then he gave an apology that was so sincere the audience on letterman didn't know if he was joking and didn't, at all, point to the fact that comics sometimes just try to say the worst thing possible. The real problem is that we make such a big deal over a word. In my highschool class, a black teen called a white teen a cracker bitch, the white teen told him to shut up and also called him a nigger. the white teen was suspended while the black teen got detention. both cracker and nigger are just words that are both racial slurs towards another race, so are chink and spic, and for some reason, even though the intent is the same, punishment differs.

The real problem is that we make such a big deal over a word.
