This hack was no individual project, I'm pretty sure this was made by a team for a long time, compare that to a hack made by one person, in that same amount of time, they would achieve less obviously. What I'm trying to say is that it's unfair to suggest that people don't put effort in their work. They emphasize on fun level design, not trying to completely polish it.
