However, open source software usually sucks. Any software worth having is proprietary and people who say otherwise are nerds who don't have to worry about ease of use and stability in their software deployments. Besides, software venders often allow third-parties to build plugins, extensions and mods, and this is a much better and more realistic solution to software customization.
