this is awesome. I am so confused on the timeline of zelda. with the huge clusterfuck of prequels, sub prequels, and sister stories, and now the biggest fuck of all..... @amoogashane The biggest confusion and mistake is the end of OOT, Zelda sends Link back to the past but how the hell would Ganondorf be not there if he is only defeated in the future? Link should have remained in the future.

Personally, I think there shouldn't be any timeline in Zelda games, I'd say each game offers the same story (about Zelda, Ganondorf, Triforce, Hylian knight) with a different set and different incarnation (except Majora's Mask & Link's Awakening).

@amoogashane A lot of it is the fact that it's not always the same Link in every game. It's usually a different incarnation of the characters in each game save a few.

OOT->Majora's Mask, all the same Link.

Wind Waker->Phantom Hourglass, all the same Link (I think)

and the timeline splits after the end of OOT, Wind Waker is the direct storyline continuation after the canon end of OOT, where Twilight Princess is the direct storyline after an alternate ending of OOT, where Link doesn't leave.

I totally agree. Zelda games are EASILY the greatest games ever (with the exception of the CD-i games) and have the best music in any video games ever. I hate the fact that many gamers treat Zelda like it is crap just because of the fact that it isn't rated M, have any mindless action in it, it doesn't involve craploads of gore and blood, and that it's story isn't based around idiots running around and killing each other.
