At their creative peak, the Fishmasters would always boast about upcoming 'New Episodes' that seldom seem to materialize, but when they did, they often had a fresh sardonic take on topical culture of the day and would put one over on the viewer in the probably most subversive way imaginable, with vintage low-budget effects in a most earnest ham-handed effort to capture the viewing audience.

Eventually, KSBW cancelled it and put on some forgettable junk show instead.. that almost ruined my life.. but i just kept going on.. i still had some awful low quality taped compilations made with vcr to vcr dubbing i could view from time to time, some real gems in there! oh yeah, i loved it for sure! and my girlfriend couldn't stand it!!

Back in 1994 I was 14 and after watching SNL on KSBY 6 Fishmasters would come on at 1am Sunday morning. It was great, and what was even funnier is that San Luis Obispo was just a few miles north from where I lived.

Watched this show all the time! When we couldn't stay up late anymore, we recorded it and it was the family Sunday morning entertainment! I have some Fishmaster episodes on VHS some where!

Still my favorite was when they were trolling at like 40mph and the lure was bouncing off the water....."I'm teasing the fish..." I think was the line. LOL

The show eventually went downhill (once they started featuring a lot of female characters, basically; they'd run out of ideas and were relying on sex appeal), but those early episodes were freakin' classics! I used to watch this on channel 8 out of Salinas, California. I was always under the impression this show was only aired on that station, and another one is San Luis Obispo. Did anyone see it on any other stations?

Yeah, the same person who owns KSBY 4 in San Luis Obispo also owns channel 8 in Salinas (or did at the time), so it aired on both channels.

@Xervosh23 It should be mentioned that 'Downhill' for this show probably represented about a 1 to 2 degree slope for a show that could politely be described as 'marginal'. As far as the the increasing presence of female characters on the show, all I can say is that I saw at least one chick who was a student at POLY on the show while I was there & considering how attractive the general female student population was I would've done the same thing
