  • damn, once the drums kicked in so did the goosebumps.

  • Hey, this song is SO great, and the performance is perfect, but i dont understand something... this song is from Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, but in the video appears Jimmy Chamberlin on drums and Ginger Reyes on the bass? Or am I wrong?

  • god damn he's good

  • love his voice

  • Lazerus is awake now?

  • Really smart ending. Love that.

  • Gives me chills.

  • Very good song...

  • Very Nice

  • thank you

  • live version with the horns is so much better than the studio

  • why isnt this on itunes??

  • @hawaiianation It's available for purchase from the band's website.

  • @hawaiianation because you can download the whole album free

  • Best song from Corgan IMHO in years.

  • @vladkips I think a lot of the new material is pretty good. Sometimes it's a bit overblown in the studio, but when you can get your hands on the stripped down stuff, like this track, it's gold.

  • Awesome.....

  • @777Lateralus Why bother searching up a song you think sucks and then comment on the video? Dumbass.

  • @777Lateralus Hey this song is one of my favorite, but I guess it wouldn't be a Smashing Pumpkins song if the general riff raff understood it. Go back and listen to Siamese Dream for ever, while I enjoy the good music that is made here and now.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 Amen, my friend.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 Why not use footage from all war? It shouldn't be about dead Americans, but human beings who've died for silly causes. Why not honor the Japanese who died on Iwo Jima? The Russians who died defending Stalingrad? We're all human.

  • @777Lateralus You got something better you'd like to share with the community? No? Shut up, fool.

  • @777Lateralus

It's over your head, kid. We don't care what you think. Be quiet.

  • @777Lateralus

You like Tool, and you think this song SUCKS? Wow, you don't understand music at all...

  • nice sync job

  • @sluterry Thanks. It was nothing, really.

  • this is nice......

  • this is nice.....

  • I want that guitar! Strat with 3 buckers.

  • heard some new songs.cant wait for the album

  • this is THE best version of the song. i love the guitar into and the drums are so much better than the studio version. jimmy will always be missed

  • this is epic music. this song could be in any great rock album from any great band

  • I'm liking the last few Teargarden songs, but this live version is so much better than the album version IMO. More passionate and grandiose.

  • @nasalscarecrow You could feel the emotion at the show. It was a religious experience.

  • EXCELENTE CANCION BASTANTES INFLUENCIAS, ESTOY MUY DE ACUERDO M C & I S ESTA DE REGRESO! LA CANCION PARA EL HIJO QUE NUNCA TUVO. PERFECTA BILLY! THUMBS UP!

  • TEMAZOOOOO!!!

  • Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness, is back. Teargarden By Kaleidescope is shaping up to be an epic album. It maybe very deferent from some of the other stuff, but I think he's going in a new direction, and the music will be just as good as the 1990s stuff.

  • am i the only teenager here who just loves these guys?

  • @MrAngry94 No. Count me in....

  • @MrAngry94 no, i think most of the teenagers, just havent seen it yet, i love it too :D

  • @MrAngry94 people in my class make fun of me for liking them and weezer

  • Wow, great song. Back in business....

  • ... Shake stays.

  • Awesome arrangement. I must have listened to/watched this video 50 times in the last month alone.

  • I am one of many, many more to come...

Even back in 2008 Billy knew his plans for Teargarden when he wrote these words.

  • Good job Billy.

  • I don't know why people are knocking down the new Smashing Pumpkins lineup. Who cares if it's not the same people behind Billy. Billy still does most of the producing himself, just like he did in the 90's. Billy still sound fucking great.

  • this song is a fuckin' masterpiece !!!

  • Great job friend

  • good..a welcome return

  • Pure progresive rock billy's style... which is fantastic.

  • I'm trying to figure out how to play this...is he using a F barre? or a just an F?

  • @MOOCLAM I play it as just an F, and looking at the video, I don't see him using any Barre chords.

  • Great quality. Thanks for the upload. The haters can go to sleep. Shut it.

  • This would make an epic song to have as a remembrance song.

Overly powerful in a subtle manner.

  • what the hell, i thought this was a new song, its two years old?? man, billy has fallen a long way

  • @kennykensworth

    Two things.

1: This Song was recorded and released a year after this was played.

2: That song was still in the writing process when they played it. They were just previewing what is expected in the future.

  • This is very good for a live show! A very moving song indeed.

  • @CrystalChrome - I don't see it as "recycling his lyrics." Rather, I think it's all just part of the broader musical concept; a thread that extends through all SP music.

  • @easternmind Exactly, I don't take it as recycling, to me it just seems as if he is making an allusion to his earlier work, to which the lyric means a lot for the message he is trying to convey.

  • best song released so far from teargarden by kaleidyscope

  • good stuff!

  • Billy isn't wearing a scarf? Where is the world going???

  • cant wait for the new album, i love sp (although billy is the only original member left)

  • fucking perfect!!

  • This is wOw..!

  • the part where he starts the bit where it says, "this is a song for that kid, this is a song for that tailor, who stitched up my old heart, before i broke it all, all apart!".......it is rlly rlly rlly.....intense, honestly prepared, and incredibly well put.....very amazing lyrics...too bad for what happened, they were great =[

  • billy's guitar playing style looks like hes just playing around with the guitar but the sound that comes out says otherwise

  • I fuckin' love this song. Great live version of it. Thanks!

  • love you billy

  • Awesome performance...static people

  • This is a song for a dove This is a song for a blown out bird That kind kind that dont return to the nest This is a song for a star This is a song for a spaced invader That flew into the sun Never to return Never to return And I am one of many, many more to come This is a song for a sailor The best i ever had He sailed without a map.
  • Say it like it is, man!! Say it like it is!! Yeah!!

  • great song

  • nice guitar solo by corgan!

  • I wish there was a shit load of distortion on the studio version, but it's still epic anyway.

  • For some reason the original live version of this song always reminded me of that classic Spanish guitar progression, I can't say why. I really like how the song transformed in the studio! It has a very epic quality to it!

  • Beautiful....

  • omg this song sounds so much better with jimmy drumming over it....ah what could've been if only billy hadn't "cashed the check"

  • way to misquote asshole.

  • oooh I added on an "ed" to it. obviously i was quoting jimmy and not billy, but i think we all know why jimmy left. anyway....

  • Jimmy left because he was full of his own ideas and wasn't into what Billy was doing. Since the band couldn't break up, if he wanted to fully dedicate himself to his own band he had to leave. Neither of them have any reason to bullshit their fans or sugarcoat things.Jimmy has come out in strong advocation of people going out and making their own music and expressing themselves and I think that's really where he's at right now. I could see how you got it as a suggestion of Billy selling out tho.

  • Widow Wake my mind was horrible though. This song is ok.

  • the new album is going to be amazing

  • soumthing bout corgan latley.

    reminds me of melonkolllly

    TYPOS RULE OK!

  • if melon collie and gish got together and had a kid, i would like to think it would sound like tear garden by kaleidyscope....and 44 songs...wow. who needs b-sides with that many songs. of course if we have to wait almost 2 years to hear them...but at this point almost anything SP could come out would be better than zeitgeist. the fact that kerry brown is producing it is good enough for me.

  • I love Zeitgeist. Its my fave Pumpkins album along with Machina II , Pisces and Gish.

In fact anything with Corgans name on it is worth hearing.

I even love his solo record. In a world of sellouts and vanity(Lady Goo Goo are you listening??) he stands for integrity, honesty and charity!

  • smashing or dead... forever

  • DE HUEVOS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • I prefer this version to the studio recording.

  • Epic!

  • ah... happiness!!!! and this is a shit lot better than Zeitgeist :D and it's freeeeeeeee

    im so fucking happy :DDDDDD

  • This one is a perfect example why billy"s voice is truely fantastic, and quite bazaar, for a newer song.

Be kool to here him screem one of many at the end.

  • You people are douche bags. This song is actually well written and well played. Mellon Collie was released in 1995, they haven't been like that since 1998. Grow up and get over it, seriously. You don't like how he doesn't shout or sing nasally anymore. That's because he blew out his voice doing that shit during mellon collie. And no, it's not Jimmy Chamberlain. Change is everywhere. It's time to get used to it. It's 2010. The 90's are well over.

  • ur mom dude

  • nice

I'm just telling the truth. This is really good and it's a great new direction. They will NEVER be mellon collie or siamese dream again. They might have songs like that, but they will never be like they were back then ever again.

  • He still sings nasally, he just does it lower and with less emotion. That's what I have a problem with.

  • This is an excellent excellent video. Good quality, and how i think this song should be played.

I agree with those who said Billy's new studio stuff is kinda weak. Really ballsy when playing live but he gets in the studio and sounds very very fem.

  • I thought this song was sooooo excellent. If Billy and the Smashing Pumpkins are heading in this directions for an album count me in. I've seen the Smashing Pumpkins numerous times and when they mix songs like this in with their oldstuff it sounds incredible. Their acoustic version of 1979 may very well be the best song I ever heard in concert : )

  • so much better live i have found my faith in billy corgan again! keepem Coming!

  • I actually really like this song. Sure it's a new direction for the Pumpkins, and trust me I'm not saying that in anyway it's better than their old stuff, but it is a good song. I think a lot of people are missing the days of Gish, Siamese Dream, and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Siamese Dream is one of my favorite albums of all time, and it does seem like they've lost some of their "bite" when you compare this song to the old. Even so, new direction, new album, and I'm psyched!

  • Super Song !!!

  • great!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like the studio version and all, but it really needs to be remixed. The chorus in not full enough. It needs to be more like this. It needs more rhythm guitar and bass.

Some of the guitar riffs are rad, but most of them are just too distracting.

I don't know if you other people agree. The studio version just needs a lot more balls.

  • this, and i don't like what he does with his voice, it's too .. high profile and just weird... and the drums arent chamberlin, but thats asking for a lot.

  • I totally agree. I'm just trying to like it, but I just can't. I have just come to the conclusion that, yeah, it's better than Zeitgeist, but the song is just not very well written. Billy can do a lot better than this.

  • Yeah they aren't chamberlain. Except that's him playing them in the background.

  • i was talking about the studio version...

  • I figured you were, my point is Jimmy made a drumming pattern to this before Mike. For all we know, Mike could have copied it beat for beat, or he could have taken a large quantity and incorporated a little bit into it. Either way, I'm sure a lot of what Mike did with the song was what Jimmy did originally. So the drums in this song, they are a lot of chamberlain.

  • Does it really matter who made or played it?

  • i prefer this over the studio version

  • agreed. Studio one needs more balls. I'm not even sure I hear any bass guitar in it.

  • Teagarden project... 44 songs, and this is the fist one, all free through The Pumpkins official website, then 11 mini albums, that i'll buy for sure cuz Billy & The Pumpkins never will cease to amaze me, Billy is a pioneer, a dreamer, someone that never gave up like so many other bands... Thank you so much ! Pumpkins Forever!!!

  • Sounds just like Santana - Hey now, all you sinners. Put your lights on.....

  • hey yall! i just got on Smashing Pumpkins myspace and the status said Song for a Son will be available for download tomorrow!!! yay!

  • I hope they will make a CD aswell, not only give it away free on the internet. It feels great to have a original CD in your Hands!

  • i think they're going to be releasing some special edition EPs to go along with the mp3s.

  • good audio.

  • the original and best.

  • Finally people have respect for Billy again. It wasn't him selling out it was the record company. Now that he's doing it all himself we're seeing a return to the greatness that the Pumpkins once were. And sellouts do not release two or three songs from a 44 track album for free every few weeks.

  • where did you get the audio? Corgan said hes releasing the album one song at a time over the internet for free but i cant find them anywhere

  • Comment removed

  • From the live shows

  • hey man, this is great that that you put the real audio over the concert video.

  • was this in cleveland? i was there :) it was epic

  • I hope it too! Beautiful song...

  • Hope it'll be one of the first song in upcoming album TEARGARDEN.

  • Have you seen the video of billy playing it on the keyboard?

  • Good stuff, and the guitar solo he posted to :)

  • i think it is!!! one of the newest blog videos has billy playing keys to the melody of this song. ill be soooo happy to hear this on the new album. although you cant get better than live

  • the absolutely newest video from recording studio shows playing the solo on electric guitar

  • @BillyCorgan81

    it is

  • my god, best ever, and ive been a fan for years i love this. i cant get enough. and its one of jimmys last performances with them ;_;

  • This is flat out sick thank you!

  • i was at this show 11/01/08 in cleveland......99 floors, owata, sunkissed, a song for a son,.........all acoustic 4 song opening set......... it was amazing

  • i wonder if he's now moving away from the aggressive rock of zeitgeist and considering a return to more MCIS era stuff. i miss ambitious tonite tonite level orchestrations from corgan

  • this is a rape song. billy needs to rape more. he rapes hard. (in this sentence, "rape" is a good thing!) ^_^

  • He raped, indeed.

  • yay for for billy corgan raping!

  • how did you get the audio? buy the box set?

  • The audio was on sale on the website after the show.

  • Now Billy's recycling his own lyrics???? "I am one of many more to come" is from Home.

    *shakes head*

    You can do better Billy.

  • When you've written as many songs as he has, it's a little difficult to remember what you have and haven't used as far as lyrics are concerned. Give the guy a little breathing room. He could be recycling guitar riffs. With some bands, it's hard to recognize one song from from another.

  • @UbiquitousGeek "I Am One" was their first big hit. You'd think he would remember it. Therefore, I'd say its intentional and indicative of a new beginning.

  • @burchified exactly. that's what i would think "I am one of many more to come" means. that his music will not die, but it continues on not just with him but with all of those he's inspired.

  • Lol, sorry, one little phrase was re-used, not as if it's a large chunk of lyrics, and the song itself is totally new...

People bitch on Billy for no reason these days :/

  • It was relevant to a song on a different topic. That's like saying that if he reused "...She gave it all away..." in a new song it would be copying Geek U.S.A.,

  • @CrystalChrome what's wrong with including the same line from one of his other songs? what if that line has a lot of meaning in his life? Billy from what I know of him tells a story that spans through out quite a few of his songs, so his albums are really one long song.

  • OMG!! this is AMAZING!

  • finally what the pumpkins should sound like!

  • 5:40

    i was like, holy shit.

  • What a song !

    Love it.

  • This is better than ALL of their other newer songs from the reunion until now.

  • It just Sounds like the Pumpkins period new... old it's more similar than most people think...

  • GREAT sounds like OLD PUMPKINS WOOOW

  • JUST KIDDIN! This song is awesome.

  • P.s. the first time i heard death from above i was disappointed, but i think it was mostly because i though it would be a harder song because of the name. i think i do that too much lol. but anyway, i saw them at the filmore and when he sang the song it was incredible i loved the song after seeing it live. a way better appreciation for it! being there helps a lot i think in these videos. they are so good live, LIVE.

  • was that necessary?
