I have 2 wild hermits, but in all respect they were being attacked my seagulls when I found them. They have an excellent home that is just like the beach 2 crabs to a 42 gallon tank :-P I live right across the street from the beach so they get fresh sand, all the palm bark they could ever want. But this, this makes me sad because we all know their shells will be painted and sent to the US for consumers :(

There are laws against picking up wild animals and keeping them as pets ( exept in Texas apperently) unfortunatly hermit crabs don't fall under the laws... they're free to take -_- But I love my hermit crabs... I try to take the best care of them because I don't live near their proper habbitate to release them and I won't release them in an innapropriate enviorment...

@clayanimator rare ? ya right!!! my sister and her brothers got each one of them (or two) from a beach in california and had them for the longeest while wild hermit crabs are all over the place in some places and they make great pets if you take them home they will probably live longer anyways...duh!
