you have got to be kidding me thats a safe hit. he didnt spear or lead with the head and isnt roughing the passer usually just hitting the qb after he throws it? he still had the ball in his hand so it wasnt that.
It's not that i want people to get hurt, but nobody put a shotgun to QBs faces saying "get in there and take it like a man". They are getting paid millions, and even more so is the fact that they can quit doing that anytime they wanted.
It's pussies like Tom Brady faking it for a flag. I'm referring to the Ray Lewis incident where it was most definitely not Roughing, yet Brady PLAYED it off that way.
He grabbed him, held him up for a second and then drove him into the ground, headfirst no less. You can't drive them into the ground whether he has the ball or not. Good call by today's rules.
im a bucs fan...and yeah i remember watching that just shaking my head. i wanted us to win fair but that was bs...sorry bengals...its not like the bucs are anything special now anyways. at least we didn't pull a detroit type season haha.
@xR3DN3CK better yet. play golf. people actually get injured in soccer and every sport besides golf. the worst thing that can happen is the golf ball getting damaged too much.

I blame the Shitsburg Steelers for the NFL now over calling ruffing the passer. If they stopped putting hits out on quarterbacks maybe things would be different. But they can't well change their play style I guess...can they?
Are you kidding me? Big Ben gets thrown down every play 5 seconds after he throws the ball. Plus we knocked the shit out of the Bungles twice this year, so suck it.
this ruined the game for the bengals cus it gave them a first down and they eventually drove downt he field for a score, the bengals probably would have won the game if this wasn't called
this is bad but not as bad as this time 2 years ago i think when urlacher pushed down the vikings quarterback brad johnson right after he passed and the ref literally said he extended his arms when he announced the penalty

I guess you didn't see Taylor's stats in the playoff game.
He didn't do shit.
We came a tackle on out LB from their OL on Gerrard's 34 yards 4th down run, from hanging on to the greatest 4th quarter comback in Post Season history.
We had no Willie, so were a bit one demitional and ben still put the numbers up on them.
wudda cudda all the same shit the fact is they didn't get the job done the only team that was really ripped of in the playoffs was the chargers imagine if along with parker, if Ben had a torn acl and the steelers didn't have their best receiver(hiens ward) and lets say larry foot was puking his guts out like shwan merriman and caysey hampton was coming off ankle sugary u guys wudda had no chance so don't tell me that one person makes a difference it's called a team sport for a reason
I'm not crying too much about it, I'm justsaying we wouldn't have punted as much if the Jags respected the play action pass with Parker in the game, therfore we would have had our D on the field as much to get tired and give up more points.
Once we started putting points on the borad by being more creative with the passing attack, our D held them everytime except on the last drive where it is clear the running lane Garrard took on 4th down was sue to the most flagrent hold possible, a tackle.
so basically ur saying the steelers lost because the refs didn't catch every single penalty in the game then maybe u shud think of a better reason cause that happens to every team i'm not being negative the the steelers i think it's one of the best organizations the nfl has our will ever see i think at this moment that jacksonville is a better team cause i know i saw some penalties that cudda been called against the steelers that wer nvr made so lets get the reft outta this one
im not saying ur being immature im saying u dont know fuck all about football so i dont know y im wasting my time arguing with u as a matter of fact i dont think i shud waste anymore time with this im done with u and if u make sum bullshit reply to this one it really shows that u dont have anything better to do than argue with someone over the internet so think about how big of a fucking loser u haft to be to reply to this comment b4 u post one. get a life
In a previous post you quoted yourself as saying "PHYSICAL DEFENCE". You quoted yourself incorrectly and your real quote was "physical team". You are also arguing over the internet. Just becuase you tried to end the arguement before I can reply becuase you are afraid of losing the arguemnt doesn't make you any better then you said I am. Good job trying to back out of an arguement you started and are now losing and go Steelers!
WOO!! and the Jets beat them too dont forget! lol!!! =P ima Jet fan and we beat u guys.. i juss laughed.. i couldnt believe it.. i actually felt bad for u steeler fans no affence ;-)
ya well its not like the jets are exactly a "good" team dipshit good luck with that qb suituation lol fuckers vernon gholston won't do shit for ur squad. i predict yet another losing season for jets... anobody wanna say otherwise.... didn't think so. get used to losing cause its gonna happen for a long time with that franchise and plus shit happens if the jets come even remotley close to beating the steelers thsi season than maybe ill laugh but it happens, teams lose to teams they can beat
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes it's roughing the passer. They jammed his head into the ground.
"Definition: Flagrantly running into or hitting the quarterback after the ball has been released. Can also be called when a defender hits the quarterback in the head."
this is just as painful now as it was then...Mike Carey made this call right? what an idiot. Refs should have to answer for crap like this...and why do we instill instant replay and challenging in the NFL if you can't use it on bogus calls like this by the refs??
That is precisely what makes this call contentious though it also did seem like the tackler turned the QB in a direction where he then slammed his head on the ground. That could have been really, really bad.
it's his own fucking fault if his head gets hit. it's time for these refs to stop being so fucking biased towards pretty boy Peyton Manning and fucking do their jobs.
Sure im biased because im a Bengals fan,but come on.That was one of the worst calls I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of football in 24 years, but that was just a horrible call.
Shouldn't the NFL be out with their "apology" pretty soon for this debacle?...hate to think the head of the officials is going to try and tell the world that this was the right call. He's in a tough spot, as Mike Carey is one of his best officials (kinda like being the tastiest rotten apple, I suppose..). Quite possibly one of the 10 worst calls in the history of the NFL..
Bulldogged his head???? The quarterback knew he was getting sacked and put his head down! It was a sack and fumble and Bengals should've taken the posession of the ball, Bengals would've won if it wasnt for that stupid call!! Sorry a little steamed here, lol!!
On NFL Total Access, Mike Pirerra discussed the play. He said that it wasn't roughing the passer, and that it's impossible to rough the passer when he wasn't in the act of passing. He said it should have been an Unneccisary Roughness call if anything, but that it should have been that either. He said the hit looks alot worse in real-time then in slow motion. So the call was made with "good judgement". He's always trying to cover their asses instead of admitting mistakes.
They called it roughing because he "bulldogged" The quarterback's head into the ground. However I do understand why people see it as a little marginal.
Unbelievable!!! A QB ducking to avoid a sack by a defenseman who tackles him clean...since when is this a DAMN penalty?! It's not the defenseman's fault that the QB's head went to the ground first.
One of the worst calls in NFL history

wudda cudda all the same shit the fact is they didn't get the job done the only team that was really ripped of in the playoffs was the chargers imagine if along with parker, if Ben had a torn acl and the steelers didn't have their best receiver(hiens ward) and lets say larry foot was puking his guts out like shwan merriman and caysey hampton was coming off ankle sugary u guys wudda had no chance so don't tell me that one person makes a difference it's called a team sport for a reason
Dmc138 3 years ago
I'm not crying too much about it, I'm justsaying we wouldn't have punted as much if the Jags respected the play action pass with Parker in the game, therfore we would have had our D on the field as much to get tired and give up more points.
Once we started putting points on the borad by being more creative with the passing attack, our D held them everytime except on the last drive where it is clear the running lane Garrard took on 4th down was sue to the most flagrent hold possible, a tackle.
HinesXL 3 years ago
so basically ur saying the steelers lost because the refs didn't catch every single penalty in the game then maybe u shud think of a better reason cause that happens to every team i'm not being negative the the steelers i think it's one of the best organizations the nfl has our will ever see i think at this moment that jacksonville is a better team cause i know i saw some penalties that cudda been called against the steelers that wer nvr made so lets get the reft outta this one
Dmc138 3 years ago
btw Hiens Xl thank u for not being a pice of shit and letting us having a mature argument unlike everone else on this website
Dmc138 3 years ago
No problem.
As far as the Jags go though, I wonder how far Gerrad can take them.
I think they need a more traditional QB.
HinesXL 3 years ago
like big ben good point
Dmc138 3 years ago
Just becuase you are showing signs of being the underdog in this arguement doesn't mean who can put me down and say I am not being mature.
tg101393 3 years ago
im not saying ur being immature im saying u dont know fuck all about football so i dont know y im wasting my time arguing with u as a matter of fact i dont think i shud waste anymore time with this im done with u and if u make sum bullshit reply to this one it really shows that u dont have anything better to do than argue with someone over the internet so think about how big of a fucking loser u haft to be to reply to this comment b4 u post one. get a life
Dmc138 3 years ago
In a previous post you quoted yourself as saying "PHYSICAL DEFENCE". You quoted yourself incorrectly and your real quote was "physical team". You are also arguing over the internet. Just becuase you tried to end the arguement before I can reply becuase you are afraid of losing the arguemnt doesn't make you any better then you said I am. Good job trying to back out of an arguement you started and are now losing and go Steelers!
tg101393 3 years ago
and keep in mind the jags weren't at 100% either if i can remember correctly i don't think they had marcus stroud
Dmc138 3 years ago
WOO!! and the Jets beat them too dont forget! lol!!! =P ima Jet fan and we beat u guys.. i juss laughed.. i couldnt believe it.. i actually felt bad for u steeler fans no affence ;-)
AceofSpadesX2 3 years ago
ya well its not like the jets are exactly a "good" team dipshit good luck with that qb suituation lol fuckers vernon gholston won't do shit for ur squad. i predict yet another losing season for jets... anobody wanna say otherwise.... didn't think so. get used to losing cause its gonna happen for a long time with that franchise and plus shit happens if the jets come even remotley close to beating the steelers thsi season than maybe ill laugh but it happens, teams lose to teams they can beat
Dmc138 3 years ago
how about they should have just scored more so that call didn't screw them like that?
pt09 3 years ago
That doesn't change the fact that it was a bad call.
MunchieMunchie 3 years ago 3
there is holding i think
FCBanton 4 years ago
it is a very borderline call. i guess as a linebacker or D-linesman, don't sack a QB until you make sure his head won't get drilled to the ground?!?
ricepaddy69 4 years ago
no!!!!! the nfl is starting to be gay with all of these terrible roughing the passer calls...ITS FOOTBALL NOT BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!
braves4life25 4 years ago 4
I wish they'd adopt the 1977 rules. I like me defense and hate passing.
MunchieMunchie 3 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Yes it's roughing the passer. They jammed his head into the ground.
"Definition: Flagrantly running into or hitting the quarterback after the ball has been released. Can also be called when a defender hits the quarterback in the head."

By the way---why only post 4 seconds of the video??

Why do you need to see more?
That was a horrible call. I guess you are suppose to make the QB a sandwich, like the King. Then you won't get flagged.
alexwilsonNC 4 years ago
Yep--Mike Carey made that call, then got a playoff assignment!!!
Lanceaferd 4 years ago
great call reff ahahaha NOT
taylershanebush 4 years ago
this is just as painful now as it was then...Mike Carey made this call right? what an idiot. Refs should have to answer for crap like this...and why do we instill instant replay and challenging in the NFL if you can't use it on bogus calls like this by the refs??

we were ripped

fuck the steelers they pay the fucking refs.
chadhawk1 4 years ago
yes that was a good call
UndyingSilentm 4 years ago
how's that?
risler34 4 years ago
you are not allowed to slam the QB's head into the ground
UndyingSilentm 4 years ago
the QB duck his head down.
GSer1981 4 years ago
That is precisely what makes this call contentious though it also did seem like the tackler turned the QB in a direction where he then slammed his head on the ground. That could have been really, really bad.
falconwings1982 4 years ago
dosent matter, thats still considerded roughing the quarter back
UndyingSilentm 4 years ago
That cost the Bengals the win in that game and now, looking at that game... the playoffs.
AlexBourbon 5 years ago
The play that cost the Bengals the playoffs came in OT on Dec 31 2006. Learn to tackle.

bengals arent going ot he uildcard were gonna beat you!!!

That call against Green Bay on Monday was even worse. Quarterbacks are f*cking five-year-olds, they should have to take hits like everyone else.

it's his own fucking fault if his head gets hit. it's time for these refs to stop being so fucking biased towards pretty boy Peyton Manning and fucking do their jobs.
RockHardBallJelly69 5 years ago
look dumbasses if the quarter back's head gets hit it's roughing the passer

Sure im biased because im a Bengals fan,but come on.That was one of the worst calls I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of football in 24 years, but that was just a horrible call.
missamanda1981 5 years ago
Shouldn't the NFL be out with their "apology" pretty soon for this debacle?...hate to think the head of the officials is going to try and tell the world that this was the right call. He's in a tough spot, as Mike Carey is one of his best officials (kinda like being the tastiest rotten apple, I suppose..). Quite possibly one of the 10 worst calls in the history of the NFL..
CincyJim6860 5 years ago
Bulldogged his head???? The quarterback knew he was getting sacked and put his head down! It was a sack and fumble and Bengals should've taken the posession of the ball, Bengals would've won if it wasnt for that stupid call!! Sorry a little steamed here, lol!!
Pinkspage 5 years ago
On NFL Total Access, Mike Pirerra discussed the play. He said that it wasn't roughing the passer, and that it's impossible to rough the passer when he wasn't in the act of passing. He said it should have been an Unneccisary Roughness call if anything, but that it should have been that either. He said the hit looks alot worse in real-time then in slow motion. So the call was made with "good judgement". He's always trying to cover their asses instead of admitting mistakes.
xShrineGuardianx 5 years ago
...as if there isn't a "bulldog" or two every other play in the NFL.
CincyJim6860 5 years ago
They called it roughing because he "bulldogged" The quarterback's head into the ground. However I do understand why people see it as a little marginal.

jimmyjimjimjoebob 5 years ago
Unbelievable!!! A QB ducking to avoid a sack by a defenseman who tackles him clean...since when is this a DAMN penalty?! It's not the defenseman's fault that the QB's head went to the ground first.
