  • One of the worst calls in NFL history

  • you have got to be kidding me thats a safe hit. he didnt spear or lead with the head and isnt roughing the passer usually just hitting the qb after he throws it? he still had the ball in his hand so it wasnt that.

  • @plasmash0t I'd love for you to call Didier Drogba a pussy to his face. You won't be able to run fast enough.

  • hell yeah

  • he drove his head into the ground. legit call.

  • @plasmash0t I never knew Tom Brady played soccer

  • Not real football anymore.

  • This cost the Bengals a trip to the playoffs in 2006....

  • @plasmash0t

    Its to draw the foul

Basketball is just as bad, if not worse.

  • Player safety, yes. Roughing? NO WAY!!!

  • wtf????? that was not roughing the passer that was a sack and the passer fumbled

  • He drove him into the ground. That's why it was called. I agree it was a pussy ass call, but by rule it was correct. I guess

  • HA! you think thats bad try watching some CFL.

  • Yeah, I agree.

It's not that i want people to get hurt, but nobody put a shotgun to QBs faces saying "get in there and take it like a man". They are getting paid millions, and even more so is the fact that they can quit doing that anytime they wanted.

It's pussies like Tom Brady faking it for a flag. I'm referring to the Ray Lewis incident where it was most definitely not Roughing, yet Brady PLAYED it off that way.

    Brady you poser.

Someone call Bledsoe to take those hits for tom

  • Mortizism is right, IronMaidenDoD is dead wrong

  • He grabbed him, held him up for a second and then drove him into the ground, headfirst no less. You can't drive them into the ground whether he has the ball or not. Good call by today's rules.

  • The Patriots are done.

  • look you say that untill your franchise qb gets hurt than it sinks in ask a pat fan what thats like

and he grabbed the facemask which is a no no on anyone not just a qb

  • The NFL really is protecting offensive players way to much. defenseless receivers and roughing the passer are just insane now.

  • im a bucs fan...and yeah i remember watching that just shaking my head. i wanted us to win fair but that was bs...sorry bengals...its not like the bucs are anything special now anyways. at least we didn't pull a detroit type season haha.

  • just like the defenseless recievers!!! pretty soon we just gonna be playing FLAG football...

  • Its no wonder defensive players always seem to get pissed off all the time. They have the fight the Zebras as well.

  • He grabbed the face mask.

  • Roughing the passer is bullshit. ITS FOOTBALL. if they dont wanna get hit play soccer

  • @xR3DN3CK You get hit alot in soccer...

  • @xR3DN3CK Play basketball, not soccer. Soccer is actually pretty physical...

  • @FadedArbiter naaa, play golf

  • @dude2die4 Play nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @xR3DN3CK

You get hit in soccer moron...

Ive seen people get tackled just as bad in soccer than in football.

  • @xR3DN3CK better yet. play golf. people actually get injured in soccer and every sport besides golf. the worst thing that can happen is the golf ball getting damaged too much.

  • @SynysterBaller1341 two words, TIGER WOODS. dude just recently tweaked his knee in a tournament. so golf is out LOL

  • @xR3DN3CK

ok u go out there throw a pass and then two seconds later have a 300 pound slineman hit u at full speed. Tell me how u like it

  • @diabloman53 I would gladly take a little hit like that from anyone for a few million dollars.

  • no....it's called a sack

  • without this play bengals would have won, and gone 9-7 and made the playoffs in 06 f that ref

  • lmao

  • In pee wee football, they teach 3 big fundamentals with tackling. 1: keep your feet moving and head up. 2: wrap up the ball carrier with both arms. 3: bring the ball carrier to the ground. They should start teaching kids now to make sure you cradle and gently place the ball carrier like you would your own child.

  • wow you have to hit helment to helment #1 #2 he didnt let go of the ball #3 this video is bull fucking shit

  • Why is that roughing? It wasn't like he was pounding into the ground.

  • he drove him to the ground, that is roughing the passer.

  • lol

  • Get used to it, with the new rules in place for next season looking at the passer is going to be 15 yards.

  • now you can't even hit the Quarterback with out getting roughing the passer

  • No way, no slap to the head, no ball release... He maintained position, and the rusher Wrapped up, cleanly. Not roughing the passer.

  • I remember that dumb ass call! I STILL ask that ? They called that on my pee-wee team I coach for and I WANTED TO RIP THAT REF'S head off cuz it was 4th Down!!!!!!!!

  • wtf that is a sack

  • he didn't even let go of the ball

  • this is fucking football the NFL that was NOT roughing the passer!

  • i like the description to the video no kidding u cant even sack the QB anymore i mean seriously stop protecting the QB so effing much its rediculous

  • IM A BENGALS FAN I WAS PISSED

  • Any more the league is a game of touch football, you cant sack the QB while he's in the pocket, thats a load of BS, i like it the way it was in the past. You could hit someone as hard as you wanted and not get called for it.

  • the home team will always get the advantage.

  • yes plus s.a.c.k.

  • Don't you have to be a "passer" to be "roughed"? He just gets sacked...over. Oh yeah,right...The NFL is a carcass of it's old self...sad clown show...In denial? check out what's happened to the Pac 10 officials! A bunch of clown tards!

  • No

    Fun

    League.

  • wtf is that...

not even rough, the tackler even hit the ground first...

  • S

    A

    C

    K

    !

  • umm "smith brings garcia to the ground" pretty sure that is called a SACK perfectly leagal and the nfl needs to do something else with their time.

  • i agree that the nfl is really being run badly but i can actually kinda see y the ref calls this...yes it is a bad call but as justin smith brings garcia to the ground, u can see smith bring garcias head into the turf..not that much, but some refs might think too much

  • The NFL is a horrible, horrible, horrible league. Roger Goodell and his buddies are a fucking joke. Yet people don't realize what a terribly run league the NFL is because we all love football enough to keep watching it regardless of what a joke it is.

  • Roger Goodell needs to be fired from his position and they really need to consider reverting the rules back to the early 90's.

  • psh this was back in 06

the officiating is waay worse now

  • fuck the bengals steelers best team ever

  • They never called a penalty on thta play

They cant cuz its just a regular sack

  • get it right ramfan... they did call a roughing the passer penalty on Justin Smith. That call literally lost the Bengals that game, and at the end of the year they were one win shy of the playoffs. One of the worst calls i have ever witnessed.

  • Hey Da2kmancomin the Steelers can beat the Bengals anyday and Big Ben is way better than carson palmer.

  • The steelers have one of the best defense and its football so all those QB's who bitch suck it up.

  • Dude your so full of shit.

  • ur full of shit zwolf

  • nope u 10000000% right. Dirty ass muther fuckers took out Palmer cuz dey couldn beat him in 05

  • I agree, Steelers wouldn't have beat the Bengals in 05 so of course they had to cheat, lol. At least Big Jen is getting beat up this season.

  • what are you talking about...the bungles are fucking whack homie

  • bungles?

  • they weren't whack that year chief, they were 11-5

  • are all Bengals fans as stupid as you ?

  • Are you kidding me? Big Ben gets thrown down every play 5 seconds after he throws the ball. Plus we knocked the shit out of the Bungles twice this year, so suck it.

  • that was bullshit.

  • this ruined the game for the bengals cus it gave them a first down and they eventually drove downt he field for a score, the bengals probably would have won the game if this wasn't called

  • He drove his head to the ground. Flagrant or not, they'll call it everytime...

  • how is this roughing the passer?we need to strap your helmet on a lil tighter

  • Why are you giving him shit bigbadben7, you spelled 'because' be casue maybe it's you who needs to be reminded.

  • this is bad but not as bad as this time 2 years ago i think when urlacher pushed down the vikings quarterback brad johnson right after he passed and the ref literally said he extended his arms when he announced the penalty

  • Dude I'm an Eagles fan (Go Birds) but seriously the Steelers not physical?! C'mon! Ever heard of the Steel Curtain in the 70's?

  • wow news flash McNabbFan92 it's 2008 just incase u wanted to know

  • Okay. James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley and James Farrior.

  • ooooooooh three guys so the ravens r a more pysical team these days... terrel suggs, Ray Lewis, Ed reed, Chris mcallister, Bart Scott

  • Ray Lewis of course he will play physical he killed a man! Bartt Scott will say death threats to Hines Ward but Ward jacked him up. He have other hard hitting physical guys too. Hines Ward (don't believe me ask Bartt Scott!), Dan Sepulveda, Heath Miller, Rashard Mendenhall, Bryant McFadden, Anthony Smith etc.... I was not planning on naming any player capable of hard hits and physcial play but thats what you did.

  • 1st Reshard Menedenhall dosent count im talking nfl not ncaa 2nd Dan Sepulvida IS THE FUCKING PUNTER 3rd Heat Miller is the tight end he must be psyicall and todd heap is 3 times as physicall then him 4th the only thing anothy smith is good at is saying shit he cant back up...tom brady (even tho i hate the guy) he made smith look like a pice of shit and bryant mcfadden WHAT? hes not pysicall at all. I get the felling u have no clue what ur talking about so just STFU

  • 1. okay don't count hard hitting rookies

    2. Type in "Dan Sepulveda" and see how he is willing to be physcial and can make hard hits.

    3. Atleast you admitted Heath is physical, even if you tried to butter it up.

    4. I said "physical" not "ability to not make youself look retarded on national tv". Anthony has made multiple hard hits as an NFL player. Just search his name.

    5. 6'0" and 190 lbs as a corner. He is big for a corner and uses his size to his advatge.(that means being physical)

  • omg i was right u dont know fuck all about football if u can tell the differnece between offence and defence i said "PHYSICAL DEFENCE" 1. heat miller is the tight end(offence)

    2. dan sepulvida punter (special teams)

    3. just cause anthony smith is big dosent mean hes physical. maybe when u learn the slightest thing about football i listen to u but for now just stfu

  • You never specified that we were just talking about defence.....

I numbered them for you and you still screw it up. I was talking about Bryant McFadden as the big corner who uses his size to play physical with the recievers. I even specified that he was a "corner". Anthony Smith is a safety anyway. If you don't know much about the Steelers its hard to put them down.

  • Okay which prevouis post has you quoted as saying "physical defense"?

  • You both need to learn how to spell Defense.

It is not Defence with a C it is Defense with an S.

Do you spell Offense like this.. Offence?

Just be casue fans hold up a big D with a little fence next to it doesn't mean it's spelled the same way.

  • Good. You must attack me for my typo instead of my points. That makes my life easier.

  • You both typed it that way and it was yor response to his inital spelling.

  • My bad, mistaked you for that Ravens fan. I have been spelling it wrong so it wasn't just a typo. I don't know why becuase I do know how to spell it!

  • No biggie, I was just being a pain.

My brother is 40 and he stil says Field Gold.

  • is it that big of a fucking deal?

  • I know right? -_-

  • ruffing the passer is after the qb throws the ball he gets hit

  • he cudda broke his neck or sumtin like that

  • Terrbile call.

  • damn it - i had successfully forgotten about this Tampa Bay game from 2006.....

  • worst call ever! this one still pisses me off

  • He drove his shoulder in to the ground, that's illegal.

  • Please tell me you're joking. LOL

  • No, I'm not joking, he lifts himoff of the ground and leads him with the shoulder to the turf, that's called "Driving" him into the ground and it is illegal, read the rule book.

  • It was a clean tackle. No grabbing the facemask or head and the QB had the ball.

  • You are not allowed to "Drive" the ball carrier into the ground. Period.

He is lifted off and then his shoulder is driven into the turf.

  • Maybe in the prissy football that the Steelers play.

  • You're right, we play prissy football.

That's why our reputation is that of one of the most physical year in and year out, and the most physical aspects of football is DSefense and rushing and we are always near the top in both categories.

Oh, I forgot, Ben and Hines aren't very phyical either.

    Get Real.

  • oh shut the fuck up hiens xl u steeler prisses got ur ass handed to u on a silver platter TWICE by the jaguars. fred taylor made ur defense look like shit it might as well have been the bengals... well sry not that bad but still fred taylor ripped u apart and most physical defenses r the ones that can stop the run wich Pittsburgh did not do against the jags so shut the fuck up u want a physical defense look at the ravens

  • I guess you didn't see Taylor's stats in the playoff game.

    He didn't do shit.

We came a tackle on out LB from their OL on Gerrard's 34 yards 4th down run, from hanging on to the greatest 4th quarter comback in Post Season history.

We had no Willie, so were a bit one demitional and ben still put the numbers up on them.

Had Parker played we would have won.

  • wudda cudda all the same shit the fact is they didn't get the job done the only team that was really ripped of in the playoffs was the chargers imagine if along with parker, if Ben had a torn acl and the steelers didn't have their best receiver(hiens ward) and lets say larry foot was puking his guts out like shwan merriman and caysey hampton was coming off ankle sugary u guys wudda had no chance so don't tell me that one person makes a difference it's called a team sport for a reason

  • I'm not crying too much about it, I'm justsaying we wouldn't have punted as much if the Jags respected the play action pass with Parker in the game, therfore we would have had our D on the field as much to get tired and give up more points.

Once we started putting points on the borad by being more creative with the passing attack, our D held them everytime except on the last drive where it is clear the running lane Garrard took on 4th down was sue to the most flagrent hold possible, a tackle.

  • so basically ur saying the steelers lost because the refs didn't catch every single penalty in the game then maybe u shud think of a better reason cause that happens to every team i'm not being negative the the steelers i think it's one of the best organizations the nfl has our will ever see i think at this moment that jacksonville is a better team cause i know i saw some penalties that cudda been called against the steelers that wer nvr made so lets get the reft outta this one

  • btw Hiens Xl thank u for not being a pice of shit and letting us having a mature argument unlike everone else on this website

  • No problem.

As far as the Jags go though, I wonder how far Gerrad can take them.

I think they need a more traditional QB.

  • like big ben good point

  • Just becuase you are showing signs of being the underdog in this arguement doesn't mean who can put me down and say I am not being mature.

  • im not saying ur being immature im saying u dont know fuck all about football so i dont know y im wasting my time arguing with u as a matter of fact i dont think i shud waste anymore time with this im done with u and if u make sum bullshit reply to this one it really shows that u dont have anything better to do than argue with someone over the internet so think about how big of a fucking loser u haft to be to reply to this comment b4 u post one. get a life

  • In a previous post you quoted yourself as saying "PHYSICAL DEFENCE". You quoted yourself incorrectly and your real quote was "physical team". You are also arguing over the internet. Just becuase you tried to end the arguement before I can reply becuase you are afraid of losing the arguemnt doesn't make you any better then you said I am. Good job trying to back out of an arguement you started and are now losing and go Steelers!

  • and keep in mind the jags weren't at 100% either if i can remember correctly i don't think they had marcus stroud

  • WOO!! and the Jets beat them too dont forget! lol!!! =P ima Jet fan and we beat u guys.. i juss laughed.. i couldnt believe it.. i actually felt bad for u steeler fans no affence ;-)

  • ya well its not like the jets are exactly a "good" team dipshit good luck with that qb suituation lol fuckers vernon gholston won't do shit for ur squad. i predict yet another losing season for jets... anobody wanna say otherwise.... didn't think so. get used to losing cause its gonna happen for a long time with that franchise and plus shit happens if the jets come even remotley close to beating the steelers thsi season than maybe ill laugh but it happens, teams lose to teams they can beat

  • how about they should have just scored more so that call didn't screw them like that?

  • That doesn't change the fact that it was a bad call.

  • there is holding i think

  • it is a very borderline call. i guess as a linebacker or D-linesman, don't sack a QB until you make sure his head won't get drilled to the ground?!?

  • no!!!!! the nfl is starting to be gay with all of these terrible roughing the passer calls...ITS FOOTBALL NOT BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!

  • I wish they'd adopt the 1977 rules. I like me defense and hate passing.

  • why even show that all it does is piss me off soooo fuck whoever posted this and thanks for that lovely memory

  • wtf?

  • pussy ass call!

  • By the way---why only post 4 seconds of the video??

  • Why do you need to see more?

That was a horrible call. I guess you are suppose to make the QB a sandwich, like the King. Then you won't get flagged.

  • Yep--Mike Carey made that call, then got a playoff assignment!!!

  • great call reff ahahaha NOT

  • this is just as painful now as it was then...Mike Carey made this call right? what an idiot. Refs should have to answer for crap like this...and why do we instill instant replay and challenging in the NFL if you can't use it on bogus calls like this by the refs??

  • we were ripped

  • fuck the steelers they pay the fucking refs.

  • yes that was a good call

  • how's that?

  • you are not allowed to slam the QB's head into the ground

  • the QB duck his head down.

  • That is precisely what makes this call contentious though it also did seem like the tackler turned the QB in a direction where he then slammed his head on the ground. That could have been really, really bad.

  • dosent matter, thats still considerded roughing the quarter back

  • That cost the Bengals the win in that game and now, looking at that game... the playoffs.

  • The play that cost the Bengals the playoffs came in OT on Dec 31 2006. Learn to tackle.

  • bengals arent going ot he uildcard were gonna beat you!!!

  • That call against Green Bay on Monday was even worse. Quarterbacks are f*cking five-year-olds, they should have to take hits like everyone else.

  • hahahahaha you deserved it!!!

  • Kimo von Rolledonhim

  • hahahahahaha bengals diserved it!!!!

  • Enjoy the steelerless postseason.hahahahhah!

  • it's his own fucking fault if his head gets hit. it's time for these refs to stop being so fucking biased towards pretty boy Peyton Manning and fucking do their jobs.

  • look dumbasses if the quarter back's head gets hit it's roughing the passer

  • My bad, good win Bungals.

  • loss #3 coming this week end bungals

  • Haha. I missed that loss.

  • Oh really?

  • Sure im biased because im a Bengals fan,but come on.That was one of the worst calls I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of football in 24 years, but that was just a horrible call.

  • Shouldn't the NFL be out with their "apology" pretty soon for this debacle?...hate to think the head of the officials is going to try and tell the world that this was the right call. He's in a tough spot, as Mike Carey is one of his best officials (kinda like being the tastiest rotten apple, I suppose..). Quite possibly one of the 10 worst calls in the history of the NFL..

  • Bulldogged his head???? The quarterback knew he was getting sacked and put his head down! It was a sack and fumble and Bengals should've taken the posession of the ball, Bengals would've won if it wasnt for that stupid call!! Sorry a little steamed here, lol!!

  • On NFL Total Access, Mike Pirerra discussed the play. He said that it wasn't roughing the passer, and that it's impossible to rough the passer when he wasn't in the act of passing. He said it should have been an Unneccisary Roughness call if anything, but that it should have been that either. He said the hit looks alot worse in real-time then in slow motion. So the call was made with "good judgement". He's always trying to cover their asses instead of admitting mistakes.

  • ...as if there isn't a "bulldog" or two every other play in the NFL.

  • They called it roughing because he "bulldogged" The quarterback's head into the ground. However I do understand why people see it as a little marginal.

  • Looks like a regular sack to me.

  • THAT PLAY LOST ME 500 DOLLARS

  • rugby sucks

  • Unbelievable!!! A QB ducking to avoid a sack by a defenseman who tackles him clean...since when is this a DAMN penalty?! It's not the defenseman's fault that the QB's head went to the ground first.

  • um... no

  • and this is why rugby is so much better than football

  • cough*bullshit*cough

  • FUCKING TERRIBLE

  • Worst call since last year's Superbowl phantom "cut-block".

  • JC5100, that means that the Baltimore Ravens shouldn't have won Super Bowl XXXV. Talk about illogical!
