D,: OHMYGOSH! I am LITERALLY crying! YOU are STUNNING; the BEST ACTRESS I have ever seen, bringing characters to life! I'm sharing this video & many others of yours. This is seriously beyond belief. O: My jaw dropped. So touching, so inspiring. You really helped with my character, even though I'm not playing Irena but Raja. It is an understatement as I say, Brava! <3
Amy Walker, you are amazing. I just stumbled upon your channel tonight and I have to say: I haven't been so delighted in a very long time. Thank you for your performances. Each one that I have wached has just been so very beautiful. Bravo.
I'm not sure I've started breathing again yet. This was absolutely phenomenal. I'm not familiar with the character or the play, but it doesn't matter. Everything was absolutely amazing. I don't think I can even describe the magnitude of this performance!
Also the "h" sound is something that russians don't have, (Ukrainians do though). Instead there's this dull ch sound, like h but without using the "throat".
Also the i, is cleaner in russian, and sounds more like eee.
As in "was killed" would sound more like "waz keeld"
You are an amazing artist Amy, keep up the good work.
Very touching piece Amy. I was never fond of acts like these, but you managed to bring so many emotions in this that I might have to reconsider my tastes.
Being Ukrainian/Russian myslelf, I find your accent is more ukrainian. Just a tip, if you want to improve on your russian accent:
There's no "a" sound as in English, it is an open, dull, "u" sound in russian instead.
And when russians try to pronounce the english a, they make this sound as an e in "echo".
Her doughter was thrown off a train cart by an angered gaured and irena was going 2 throw herlself after her but she was dragged back on the train my middle school did this play and it was beter than any of the videos put up on youtube
hello! i was wondering if you have an email? i am auditioning for irena and i thought your performance was AMAZING! i was just wondering if you had any tips or sugestions for me.
Hey, I just wanted to say thank you so much. My school is doing the play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly", and I really wanted to go above and beyond for the auditions by using the accent. With your help, I nailed it, and got the part of Irena. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Beautiful. One tip though: Czech has accent always on the first syllable, you sometimes put it on the last syllable as in Russian (especially when saying "David", but also elsewhere). A Czech speaking English would not do that, it is not natural.
Anyway, I would be happy if my English accent was as close to native as your Czech, so don't take this the wrong way please. There are some words that you pronounce exactly like a native Czech speaker would! All your videos are simply great.
On second hearing, the strange accent is just in the names "David" and "Anicka". When you say "Anna" it sounds fine and "Irena" sounds absolutely perfect.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I love your work. A year ago I was Raja in 'The Terezin Promise', the sequal to 'I Never Saw Another Butterfly'- my good friend played Irena. I honestly didn't think anyone could pull it off better than she did... but your preformance sent shivers down my spine.
You are a renaissance genius. I get a lot of inspiration out of your videos. I sing, compose, paint and dance. All half-arsed since I have always thought that I should find a one thing to concentrate on. I'm not sure about that anymore.
I want to thank you. I play the part Irena Synkova in my schools OWN production of i never saw another butterfly. I could never get into character when i told Raja about my daughter...but now...i can!
i just need to say u need a little bit more work on ur accent, the way u say ur t's are very soft, i just kept noticing that throughout and it kinda distracted me, but you were great otherwise:)
My God, this was amazing. The writing was absolutely beautiful as was your delivery and the end gave me chills. The accent was wonderfully done as well, and just... you are fantastic and such an inspiration to me as an aspiring actress. Well done.
Hi Amy, I heard 21 accents this morning, and recalled I heard it a while back. I'm glad I heard it again, so I could see what else you have posted. I had no idea how much attention this has brought you, thats great. Can't wait to see you in screen. Keep up the good work.♥
Saw you on the Today Show and went to Youtube to view all your videos - wow, fantastic - I'd love to see you do some improv - you'd be great at it, and then post the video on youtube - I think people would love it....also, I'd love to see you do an Indian accent (used car dealer, cab driver, or something) Thanks!
Amy, as someone who played the role of Irena Synková 15 years ago, when I was 13 years old, I must say this is absolutely gorgeous. She is such a haunting character. Even now, 15 years later, I still remember that monologue, the one where she talks about losing her daughter. I think I cried real tears everytime I performed it. Wow. Thanks for bringing her story to further life! You are such a shining star. We're all cheering for you!
I'm thrilled! :-D All the best to you. -and I'm all for the Quaker ideals. Been intrigued since reading about Harriet Tubman in 5th grade and finally got to learn a bit more while I lived in Philly. Wonderful! :-)
Abundant thanks! I could never choose one or the other. They're both in me, as is singing. :-) Your words are incredibly gratifying; thank you, and all the best!
And You just made my day. Honestly, it's incredibly validating to know you're communicating as an artist. Thank you. And I prefer Pie, too. ;-) In fact, I think a pie offensive is the solution to any war.
Wow...I don't usually watch videos like this on youtube, but curiosity overcame me. This is absolutely beautiful...your presentation and emotion...wow
I wish I could encapsulate in words how much it means to me to hear this from someone I've never met. Thank you with all my heart. It was one of those pieces that just "came out" one candle-lit, snowy afternoon. I'm glad it resonates with you.
Oh wow that was wonderful! We're doing this play. o.o I think this video helped me get into the mind state for what my character faced before getting to Terizin. (because I have the role of Irena.) Thank you, wonderful video.
I'm thrilled to have some part in inspiring your Irena. Thank you so much for your comment. It is a beautiful affirmation. I truly wish you all the best in your production.
