There are many innocents and scapegoats in prisons. I think you'll like to watch a documentary movie. If I remember right, it's called 'West Memphis Three'. Three innocent teens were charged for murder, because they were unpopular and poor. It's one of good examples. I read an article long ago that prisons help hosts of towns to survive. Maybe google it up and you'll find it. I'm not expert on it. I'm just friendly and thought to share what I happen to know a bit about Prison Industry Complex.

@OccupyNAD Hi there! I don't have a kid exactly, my best friend has a daughter that I have seen her grown up to present. I have appreciated myself for rich experiences with understanding kids better through her life. With her friends, I have chances to analyze how they interact as well as I read books about child development. Interesting stuff to learn about. I do wonder about American prisons and their statistics! these numbers are really higher! Hmm, I would need to research on them. :-)

@OccupyNAD For instance with drinking, I let her know that I do drink once in a while with friends for dinner or socializing, and I show her facts about drinking that come with consequences when it comes to my responsibility as a good social drinker or a drunkard. I give her piece of information over time that she is aware of choices that I do make when I drink and show her that I take full responsibility for my actions. I tell her that I don't avoid or run away from it.

@OccupyNAD con'td, I also explain to her that drinking is a factor of many things to contribute for the need of using it - socioeconomic, society's approval, stress, etc. I don't say it's a good or bad thing - it's how I use drinking for. Hope that helps. And for American prison thing, I want to research on Canadian prison as well in near future. :-)

@OccupyNAD Same here, as I believe taxpayers keep paying out of their pockets to provide the basic needs for all prisoners. Even in Canada, it's the same thing. Salticid68, information on Prison Industry Complex would be nice to know about, let me know about that. Thanks
