There is one thing that many Time Travel* stories do cause problems. For your Prime Character to survive, a "Future Him"** has to shoot him in the leg. Where did the FH** come from? Since he was planning to kill himself, there had to be a First TIme for him to exist where there was 'no future him existing yet' & since he was going to kill himself his FH** would not exist with the bum leg.

In this version of time travel, there are multiple coexisting alternate histories, so that when the traveler goes back in time, he ends up in a new timeline where historical events can differ from the timeline she came from, but his original timeline does not cease to exist. @rangeclerk Time travel may actually create a new timeline that diverges from the original timeline at the moment the time traveler appears in the past, or the traveler may arrive in an already existing parallel universe (though unless the parallel universe's history was identical to the time traveler's history up until the point where the time traveler appeared, it is questionable whether the latter version qualifies as 'time travel').

If as u say there are alternate times and if one of those of someone who was not going to hang himself which allowed him to live into the future he would have no reason (Drive) to develop time travel----

There are other possibilities such as the first time he was shot by someone else (the original attacker), then when he traveled back the real attacker saw him and ran away and then he shot himself. It's a bit of a stretch and was certainty not my original plan when I wrote the script but could justify the plot. Do you know of any other paradoxical time travel films involving infinite loops?

For John Conner to be born his "dad" had to come from the future who is beinging sent by John Conner---There had to be FIRST TIME for Sara where she is not pregant and in fact given what we know from the second TERM. film that is what caused SKYNET to be developed because of Dyson reseaching the Arm and Chip of the First Term that had been sent to kill Sara.
@TheConstipatedcamel In Back 2 the Future 3 there is a part that cannot figure why they did not use it. Marty is stuck in '55 & with Doc of '55 help recover the DeLoran used by Doc of the Future to go back to the 1880's.
Doc helps Marty fix that DeLoran so Marty can go back to the 1880's and save Doc. When Marty gets to the 1880's there are 2 DeLoran's now but no ref. made to the one Dr had buried. Line could have been: DOC: "Marty we have to leave this 1 alone for u to save me"--but not used
@TheConstipatedcamel I like your idea of their being "another attacker" and ran away when that attacker saw his future victim show up & when "2" of him were on the ground the unknown attacker thought "him, looks like he is getting ready to hang himself and will save me the trouble and will also get rid of his "2 future selves"---maybe there could be second film finding out who the attacker really was? Also why was the victim going to hang himself?
@rangeclerk Yea wow great idea, I'll let you know if I make a sequel. No reason related to the film, just depressed. As part of the school project we needed to include a coat hanger, everyone was going for obvious inclusions like hanging up a coat so was trying to be original.
@TheConstipatedcamel Don't be depressed u are smart and enjoy your time in (I am assuming) High School as suddenly it is over with and gone and u find yourself missing most of the time there with friends and instructors---savor the moments as they only come once---You have Talent-----
