  • That 2 note solo is punk. Thanks for the upload.

  • @zilvafish it's a 3 note solo actually!

  • @LukeDrum44 Yeah. That 3rd note ruined it for me so I just ignore it.

  • excellent quality. excellent band. excellent song. thx for uploading this!

  • A rare clip indeed. I've still got my original 45...bought it when it first came out early 1977. I'd already seen The Damned and The Adverts AND The Jam....What a great time for us brand new punks that was!

  • Incrível!

  • wow brilliant post thank you!

  • saw them in 1978 and they never sounded as good as this top vid!

  • They were amazing when I saw them live. I got a bloody nose in the pit during this song.

  • Man I wish there was more footage from this show!!!

  • is nt boredom

  • タイムストレッチしてるんだよね?

  • I saw this tour. They played with The Gang of Four in DC. This is brilliant!

  • This is FUCKING KILLER!!!!

  • @tableface77 no kidding

  • Just how fucking brilliant is this footage ?

  • Know the feeling!

  • Genius at first sight.

  • purrrfect

  • I'm pretty sure Howard Devoto sang on Spiral Scratch but their voices are pretty similar.

  • @Scotlanz Yeah, Howard sang on "Spiral Scratch" but left before the Buzzcocks' first album "Another Music in a Different Kitchen", for whatever reason. (I think he wanted to "do something else".) After Buzzcocks took off, Howard Devoto formed the band Magazine.

  • @Scotlanz ...i reckon devoto left 'cos his style was different to pete shelly. to illustrate this point; they obviously had a riff composed before they split, they both used it; shelly in 'lipstick' (in the related videos-->) & devoto in 'shot by both sides'. listen to those 2 and you'll clearly see the artistic differences. although shelly is great, devoto is vasly superior IMO.

  • @scobiedog1 I love them both. Shelly and Devoto.

  • It's not early Buzzcocks, they'd bin around for 4 years by this point & recorded "boredom" jus under 4 years previous!

  • Check out a cover I made of Buzzcocks' 'Love Battery' via my YouTube channel

  • there is a way to download this cover? i prefer this than spiral scratch cover.

  • @nachowill95 this is not a cover... its a buzzcocks original

  • @crassadict211 ups, xD yes i know.. but i'm from spain and here, cover and version are the same word

  • YES ...

  • I have loads of Buzzcocks I filmed on my channel

  • Brilliant brilliant video thank for posting. Saw them at Newcastle City Hall 79 / 80 ?? Joy Division supporting. Best ever gig :-)

  • @dbbusybee

You bastard. I could have gone to that tour in Dundee on a Tuesday night but I went to my night class instead like a good boy. Regretted that ever since. Cheers for reminding me. Almost the last time Ian Curtis played.

  • somebody knows what are the chorus notes for guitar?? and the bass?

  • Comment removed

  • buh-dum buh-dum.

  • THIS is TRUE punk! Thanks a million for posting! ::)

  • Wow,really a fast and furious version!

  • Green Day = Boredom

  • Właśnie o to w tym wszystkim chodzi!

  • Green Day should have given up immediately after seeing this for the first time.

  • Wow, Pete rocks on this song! I like the vocal twist he gave it, it's a bit more melodic. Great as always!

  • Reminds me my mate once phoned John Maher for drum lessons in late 1981. He was living with Stevie Diggle in Oldham and the band was breaking up. Shelley did some nice solo pieces, Diggle and Maher had Buzzcock Flag of Convenience (for which I failed my audition to become bassist - though greatly enjoyed the afternoon!), and the real bassist had his own band. Last time I saw the buzzcocks live was in Bolton shortly before that split. Happy days and how I wish I was 16 again!!!!!

  • Wow - it's on fire!!!

  • this is by far the best guitar solo ever, brilliant band.

  • I often find myself walking around singing this

  • Su-fucking-perb stuff! Never seen this before. A very well shot bit of footage, a sharp bit of editing & top sound quality too.....Apart from Maher's dodgy titfer: What's not to like? Cheers for posting.

  • Buzzcocks ftw.

  • puuuuuuuuuta sin palabras!!!!

  • Ok pop pickers name me any current band that can sound as good as this live oh and to mr cowell and all his legion of pre fab bands please.............YOU DONT STAND A FUCKING CHANCE - just an EPIC performance from as real a band as you are ever going to get !

  • Absoulutely FAB. Only saw Buzzcocks once in Newcastle UK - but they were supported by Joy Division with Ian Curtis.

    BEST ever gig.

  • Ad fun when the Buzzcocks came 2 Crewe last year!

  • Brilliant, this is a truly punk!!!

    Thanks for the post!!!

  • Badum Badum. :D

They have to be tied for my favorite band.

Too bad I'm only 16 and missed this awesome era. xD

  • fuckin'grrrrrreat, mate!

    cheers

  • Can not believe that there is footage of this show because I went to this show. I remember it was the first time I saw people pogo dancing. Don't remember it being that packed. Also saw the Furs at Bradford same year on their first tour of the US. Anyone know the exact date of this of either.

  • Good Boston footage and, sound quality.

  • I can't believe this, the spiral scratch EP has been my fav for christ knows how long - power to you for posting this, gobsmacked

  • como dijo tony wilson, estarian inspirados por los pistols para hacer grandes hazañas... wow

  • Top Five bands of all time

  • there are some bore-heads inside a henry-rollins-forum (rollins on rave & drugs) who rate rollins as "punk", to some of them i sent some buzzcocks-live-stuff.......ex-ce-llent!!! thanx a real lot for posting. if there´s more of that good quality(and not uploaded yet) - send it to my channel.......

  • Five stars!

  • this is punk!!!

  • HOLY SHIT!!!

  • way cool.

  • i love the buzzcocks!!!

  • this is cool

  • the best of the best!

  • Brilliant live preformance. Many people argue that onlky Devoto could deliver this song, however I think on this occasion they manage without him.

  • Maravilloso video... Tremenda banda los Buzzcocks... Aguante el rokanrroll!!!!

  • Green Day can SUCK it!!! They AIN"T got NOTHING on The Buzzcocks!!!! ( one of their "influences"...)

  • This video's first VIRGIN comment!!! What can I say?? I fucking LOVE,LOVE,LOVE The Buzzcocks and SPECIALLY this song right here!!! Sometimes You Tube REALLY fucking DELIVERS THE GOODS!!!
