Question: If SCOTUS rules the Chicago ban can stand because the constitution doesn't apply outside of D.C., can we stop paying income tax; since the 16th amendment should therefore also only apply to D.C.? LOL

States, independent of the federal Gov. can have a militia. Individuals, independent of the state and federal gov. can keep and bear arms.

Imagine a country where every decent citizen couldn't own a gun, and every violent member of a gang had guns. We'd need more police to control crime. Just the possibility that a citizen may be armed, is reason for a thug to think twice before whipping out that gun.

Without the 2nd amendment, we'd be a the mercy of thugs, and even worse, a repressive totalitarian government, run by inept self serving bureaucrats.

Can DC still ban semiautomatic guns like the Mayor and Police Chief say are still banned?

Most people are confused when that term is used. Most pistols that aren't revolvers are semi-automatic. If I remember correctly, DC law regulates magazine capacity.

And actually a revolver is a 1 pull 1 fire gun so I want to see what they will classify revolvers.
