There is only one question you need to pass for the FBI or any agency and it is as follows: Do you have the cognitive skills of a goldfish and will you do anything in the name of the Fatherland? You must answer in the affirmative.
ALL THE MEASURES THAT YOU ARE RECOMMENDED DOES NOT GET THE TRUTH OF NOBODY, TRUTH AND LIES ARE SISTERS, NO ONE CAN EVER GET THE TRUTH OR LIES OF NO ONE, THERE IS NO TECHNOLOGY FOR IT. THE FBI WAS WORKING IN A SOFTWARE / HARDWARE CALLED "FACE" THEY CLAIM THAT WHEN YOU LIE SOME MICROSCOPIC FACE MOVEMENTS OCCUR BUT IS NOT SEEN NY THE HUMAN EYE SO THEY ARE OR ALREADY HAVE THIS.
Wow he killed u with kindness whoever the dumbass was who called him an idiot? For the person who called him an idiot " your a fucken dumbass that just couldn't tighten ur anal sphincter cuz u have gay butt sex on an everyday basis and ur asshole is too loose and that my friend is why ur butt hurt and ur taken ur pain on him. Go kill yourself. And show some respect u punk ass little bitch! Have a nice day :) bitch!
Even if a state of the art polygraph machine is 99.6% acccurate there is still like George says"a chance of a false positive"and to be told that a lie detector is fool proof by those who administer the test are liars themselves!
I was told to tape a thumbtack to my toe underneath and press down during the control questions, or simply lie about one or two control questions. Any truth to these strategies......don't lie to us.
@AntiPolygraph I will be taking a polygraph next week for my probation. I am nervous at the fact that my officer stresses that if i fail i will spend thirty days in jail. If this happens i will get kicked out of school and fired. I know polygraphes are not 100 percent. But i do know there are some of the questions that i would have to lie to pass like if i had a drink or left the county. Im not a bad person and i dont want to jail time for little mistakes how can i beat it?
To the people who say they have commited no crimes and that they told the truth the whole time........ why in the hell would you watch these videos in the first place if you have nothing to hide???
@ACKAWILY The idea is to de-engineer the non-scientific methodology behind the over-rated polygraph. A POLYGRAPH does not detect lies. It detects fear, anxiety, etc. Of course, in order to understand what "de-engineering" is, you'd have to have a clue what engineering (of a mechanism) is. Obviously, you can not grasp these simple concepts so I need not throw pearls before swine.
One question I have though.. What options does a person have when it comes to taking the polygraph for trying to get hired by a police dept? I dont want to fail based off of being nervous.. I have commited no crimes and realistically have nothing to worry about.
See The Lie Behind the Lie Detector for information on strategies for reducing the risk of a false positive outcome. You can download this e-book (it's free) at AntiPolygraph(dot)org.
If you knew how to beat a polygraph, than why did you fail the FBI's so misserably? I am in no means trying to be condesending or disrespectful but you (in my opinion) are not a good person to discuss beating it. I respect all the time you gave to the service but you can't discuss this...
Appreciate the reply.. Sorry if I seemed rather harsh.. I have always been agaisnt polygraphs. I'm kind of curious.. What kind of things happend after the FBI test? I know about the Security Clearance in the Army.. But how else has it affected you professionally or personally?
Thanks I will.. You know...My father retired as a Lt. Colonel and has been a violent crimes detective for many years.. He was presented the opportunity to be a polygraph examiner. He almost did it. Im glad he didnt. He (like myself) felt it was a failure of a method.
Its 100% about the Heisenberg theory, in that the fact that you observe something you change its outcome.
For example; if you are performing your job task at peak efficiency you will have NO problem. However if you have the POS bossman that looks over your shoulder you are more likely to screw-up cause of the nervousness factors.
Hey, I saw you on the Penn & Teller show when they were talking about lie detectors. Sorry about what happened. I think the whole lie detector thing is stupid and I believe it just measures nervousness, because I can lie to someone and be extremely calm. It's just a psychological feeling that makes you fail the test in my opinion.
so a buddy of mmine and i are being acused of a crime we did not do it and wud like to get a polygraph to prove our inocents....so wuts ur thoughts on this is it worth the money and takin the risk of having a false positive outcome or shud i save my money?
First, under no circumstances should you agree to a polygraph conducted by any law enforcement agency. In addition, I think hiring a polygraph operator is likely a waste of money, as polygraph results are generally NOT admissible as evidence in courts of law.
Instead, I think you'd be wise to retain a good criminal defense lawyer and refuse to speak with police without your lawyer present.
lie detectors do work.. i've takin one and been caught cause of them.. so shut tha fuck up you know nothing idiots.. if you dont know what your taking about dont speakk idc if your 12 or 120 dont speak if you dont know what your talking about
I've sat on the box a few (4) times, once for a job in law enforcement, and 3 times for DoD clearance purposes. The process is a pain, and they really try to goad you at times. Despite the fact that I had at least 1 deceptive "hit" on each poly (despite being truthful!) , I simply explained that I had no idea why I would hit on that particular question, volunteer to retest. each time..they declined retest and passed me.
it sucks to know that i could be denied my life long goal in law enforcement even though i have not done anything wrong. if there is even a small chance of a false positive...why do they even use it ?
They have never existed. When they are used it is either in the misguided belief they work, or as a convincing excuse to get away with accusing people without real evidence.
Not one double-blind study has ever shown they are effective.
No valid proof whatsoever has ever been produced to support the manufacturers claims.
There has never been any peer reviewed proof that lie detectors are any more effective than just guessing whether someone's lying.
In fact, if the person doing the guessing is trained to spot deceit, a lie detector is less accurate than guessing.
I'd advise you to look at the Eriksson and Lacerda study, but since they were silenced by the lie detector manufacturers, you may not be able to. (google it)
To clarify, the industry didn't refute or disagree with the research, they just threatened.
"lie detectors" (all of the various types) are not accurate or scientifically sound, you made one small mistake.
The Eriksson and Lacerda study criticized the Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) and Layered Voice Analysis (LVA). The creators of the LVA threatened to sue the journal and the journal removed the article. Both the CVSA and LVA are worthless and the article is available online.
These lie detectors have to go. I interviewed on 2 seperate occasions for a goverment job and they denied emplyment twice based on the polygraph results. Which I will swear I told the truth to the day I die. In 2 weeks I take another polygraph test for another goverment job..not looking forward to another rejection letter.
I also failed a lie detector test as part of an application process for a police force. I will go to my grave swearing I told the truth. The time has come for this flawed technology to be retired and stop ruining peoples lives. It has forever changed my view of shows like Jerry Springer and such where people are subjected to these things. I know the truth now and feel for these people when they swear they are telling the truth and the test says they are lying. This is truly a modern witch hunt.
I have watched the NEW game show that uses Polygraph tests and the players are often shocked because they are found to be caught Lieing to things that they admit to that are things noone would admit to if not for the monetary gain if they tell the truth.. So they admit to something horrible and the machine says no you did not do this or that

No. The information on polygraph countermeasures provided by AntiPolygraph-dot-org is based on research of the scientific literature on polygraphs, and not personal experience. For more on my background, see my statement, "Too Hot of a Potato: A Citizen-Soldier's Encounter With the Polygraph," which you'll find on AntiPolygraph-dot-org.
how would increasing your blood pressure fool the lie detector? I thought lie detectors picked up signs of increase in blood pressure and such to tell if someone's lying? Or maybe i'm not understanding it, right, but do you mean as suddenly increasing your blood pressure whenever you are telling an obvious truth to fool the lie detector? (sorry, if you think this is a dumb question.)
