  • Koreografi silatnya sih keren banget, tapi ceritanya agak simpel n ga masuk akal. Masa merantau ke Jakarta doang ga kenal siapa2. Nggak mungkin org Minang ga punya saudara di sit qiqiqiqi.. Bukan gitu caranya merantau... Cari kerja di RM Padang kek.. emang gitu caranya klo kepepet, pasti ada urang awak yg mau bantu :)

  • man the trailer reveals too much

  • This movie puts Ong Bak 2 and 3 to such shame.

  • @ZhuangziZhou agreed, noone cares about swords era,now is small knife, hand to hand and firearms era.

  • Sorry, they are a bit too slow and predictable with the fight scenes. You see them slowing down to wait for the next move.. Weak speed ruins the choreography. If they could pick up the pace it could be a decent watch.. Should have clocked the camera down a few frames to make up for the lack of speed. It would have been great.

  • This is an Indonesian film. martial art style is called "Silat".

  • Great acting .. great movie. Watch it! Full Movie World . com

  • This movie looks good. But how come everybody is talking about Tony Jaa and Jackia Chan. Why not Jet li to the conversation?

  • I saw this in a DVD store the last time I went there...And after i've watched the trailer, i think i'm gonna get a copy of my own to watch the whole^_^how i wish we could also have these kind of movies here in the Philippines, sadly all we have here are frustrated actors(not all of course but mostly...yes!)

  • uhhh wooow me like

  • wow :D i think jackie chan should start to be afraid of his job :D

  • Jackie Chan is an action comedian with a fully smile ok? not just fighting n fighting for the whole movie!! How boring is it? No compare man!! He's still the best, at least he can speak English,

  • @raiwa09 okay..... I can name several martial artist that would mess jackie chan up bad!!!

  • @EAGLES6192 no one martial art is the answer to defeating another. It depends on the individual more than anything else. For example I know boxers who have beaten MMA guys in streetfights.

  • @ghostlyredfox that means mma fighter weren't sparing and getting blows to head,if u dnt utilize all u can do with hands(elbows inc),feet(knees),head and even teeth for victory u deserve to lose. For instance m thai fighters are weak in parter, they are hard to get to the ground, but with skill bjj locks they go down.

  • muslim action hero

  • jeeez, why do they ALL look like Tony JAA :D

  • @Lunatic4ever Tony jaa was using some indonesian silat harimau techniques u idiots..

  • @IndoJaps

What the fuck is ur problem?

i said HE LOOKS like Jaa.

    Read it properly u moron.

    damn idiot

  • For those ignorant idiots who keep saying this guy copied Tony Jaa's style... let me tell ya son, TONY JAA DID BORROW SOME SILAT TECHNIQUES FOR HIS MOVIE. Open ONGBAK2 in wikipedia, and guess what?... TONY JAA WAS USING INDONESIAN SILAT HARIMAU...

    Long Live Silat!!!

  • It looks like a new kind of ¨Ai kido¨ or something like that :)

  • Masha'Allah...

  • HAHA 1:49

  • 1:42

Seni Cindai (This technique applies ordinary clothes like kain sarung)

  • the 2 parkour-fighting mixture szenes are hot !

  • i like the ending of the video man.shit.

  • Sakitnya bangsa bukan di luar. Tetapi terhunjam di dalam nyawa. Walau diubat walau ditawar. Semangat hancur apalah daya. Janjian Tuhan sudah tajalli. Mulialah umat yang teguh iman. Allah tak pernah mungkirkan janji. Tarikh riwayat jadi pedoman. Tidaklah Allah mengubah untung. Suatu kaum dalam dunia. Jika hanya duduk terkatung. Berpeluk lutut berputus asa - Buya Hamka. Salam kasih untuk saudara-saudaraku. Dirgahayu Darul Islam Nusantara! Allahuakhbar!! : )

  • ..Couldn't agree more with StompDeni42, this movie will bring new experiences in martial arts movie.

And for some people who still wondering why the main character is a muslim..well, because we Indonesian are the most populated muslim country in the world and we have very strong Islamic cultures and backgrounds...many Indonesian are muslim..including this actor. So, Silat and Islam is a perfect match! deal with it!

  • I'm glad to a Silat-movie is coming! We've seen karate, kung fu, kick-box, muai thay and many more, but this is new, I think.

It's true, it reminds me too of Ong Bak and Tony Jaa a little, but no problem, I am sure, this movie will be great and it will bring new experiences!

  • I couldn't help but bursting into a laughter when it said "This... Is... SILAT!" LOL!! but it's true though, we have our own martial arts and should be proud of it!

  • see in utube" merantau promo reel 5 minutes " u'll know it, this is silat

  • i watched it yesterday ,worth it,good movie

  • This looks great entertainment ,even though a bit raw ,but i kinda like that.We need new stars that can showcase the arts to there best, you just can't rely on Tony Jaa only .Even the the likes Jackie and Sammo,Donnie.because where will we get our action when they all retire. The more young ones showcasing their skills the better. We need the Jeeja's and Wu Jing's to keep the flame alive ,so top marks to this Guy too.

  • This is one of the truest things ever written on youtube. You are so right. The new breed need tostep up and do their best.

  • Thank-you,and i will be there to showcase and tell the world about these guys on my site.

  • why must you guys compare this guy and tony jaa? just enjoy la...

  • i also got the feeling, that he is supposed to be the next tony jaa, what won't be. i know, i shouldn't compare the two of them because of the differnce between silat and muay thai, but when u compare the whole movies, they look very similar; in the storyline aswell as in the photographic way...

and i want also point out, that this guys moves look really nasty, compared to tony's flowing style

  • i mean is the guy a muslim

  • maybe he just had to play the actor role like muslim

  • the actor is a real muslim... in fact, over 90% of Indonesian is a Muslim, especially those who uphold and training in Silat for generations. Silat and Islam's relation is like Kungfu and Confusianism.

  • what kind of martial atrs is this. And is a muslim

  • well about time silat got its own movie

  • i can't WAIT to see this movie.

  • i seen a page saying this guy is the next Tony jaa ...... well thats a load of shit lol Jaa would crush hi all this guy is, is a wanabe Jaa. but with silat .... i mean he is good but you can see he is aimed for Tony Jaa trying to out do him.. its just not going to happen jaa is the beat the world has to offer. better then Jet Then donnie then chan and better then this guy even if jaa had pirod cramps and crotch rot he could kill this guy

  • iko uwais ganteng bangetttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt :)

  • tony jaa would kick his ass

  • Fuck your Ass ...tony jaa just using too much effect.. but our Silat is true real.. free from movie effect !! bring here your fucking tony jaa... will crushed his ass hole wkwkwkwk

  • my comment for this movie, sure it's such a great indonesian movie...finally i can see some action and fighting movie made in indonesia doesn't matter the director is not indonesian...i give 8 out of 10 for "MERANTAU" in some scene it was a bit slow, but overall, i was entertained ...some part it's like ong bak (thailand movie)...yeah tony jaa...the act of the new actor (Iko Uwais) was good for such a new star very natural...well done to G.H Evans

  • where do i get to see this movie>>??????!!!!

  • Indonesia butuh lebih banyak film silat kayak gini, jangan kayak Indosiar

Ayo belajar sama orang-orang bule!!! :D

  • i saw this movie 3 days ago, the opening film when yuda practised silat use kerambit so cool, the movie blend action and drama. fighting coreography good but story flow rather slow.

  • Finally! A Silate movie!!

With Tony Jaa Jr. ??: O

  • He reminds me of Tony Jaa

  • salute silat.....aQ support

  • Saw the movie. Finally an improvement for indonesian movies. Good actors, good story. Kudos to the Production team. though my only complaint is the pacing of the movie. Some parts are just too slow. but none the less, amazing job.

  • to eddies, lu kebiasaan nonton silat yg di tv bikinan the punjabi sih. otak lu udah di cuci ama tuh film yg bikin mencret. Klu suara pas brantem di dubbing jd nggak natural, power yg dihasilkan dlm setiap gerakan jd ngak mantep kalo suaranya nggak sinkron. Khan udah ada effek pendukung!!

  • ini kyk asli napas na,mantaap ,klo FILM cina apaan tuh hah hah hah (cape) masa kykgitu suara na sama smua lge ~,~

  • yeee gw orang minang

  • 1 Kelemahannya..., harusnya PAS BERANTEM SUARANYA DI-DUBBING, jadi nga ngos2an banget. Film2 kungfu China juga kalo lagi berantem suara2 nafas/erangan orangnya di-dubbing semua koq.

  • GILA!!! KEREN MAMPUS!!!

Its a must seen movie! I mean it, u have to kill urself if u missed it!

  • wow!!!!.....this movie lookz sik.....cant wait....hez a muslim in the movie.....they are prayin at the start........

  • sadisss banget neh filmmm.. wajib nonton!!!!

  • Damn!! Keren mampus ni film...

Good Job for all of you guys...

    especially for Iko Uwais,

  • Do someone know something about the date on theaters in Europe ?

  • tu aimes silat aussi?im affraid that wont be in European theater, just in Indonesia,n some other south east asia country..

  • aaaaaaah shit! And to answer your question, yes I like silat :)

In fact, I like martial arts: I do a style of karate and and I do a system of self defense based on Silat... My teacher has study silat with Charles Joussot and Guru Turpijn :)

  • salam..great, im silat fighter too,n learn capoeira as well..just heard, it will be presented in Cannes film festival, so maybe it will be brought up to some european theater as well..but im sure someone will upload it here..

  • I don't know about Europe but I heard it would be present on Austin, Texas in this year's Fantastic Fest.

  • ^^ Interresting... the little problem is that I come frome Belgium, a small land next to France and Germany ^^

  • looks really good. cant wait for it!

maybe this guy does not have the body of tony jaa but he definitely CAN move!! i think ill like that movie.

  • Berthn-thn aku mnnggu flm action Indonsia yng kren,tp br skrg aku tmukn.

    Smph, kereeeeeeeeeeeeeeen abbeeeezzzzz.

aku prnh nntn pmbuatnny d tv,& smp skrg aku tngg-tngg pnayngnny.

Top Abez.

    Terima Kasih sudah bersedia upload.

    aku tunggu perkembangan selanjutnya.

  • sumpah.. dliat dri trailer keren bgt..

semoga gak cuma trailer doank kayak film kcb..

jarang kan ada film action d indonesia..

ayooo semangat.. i'll be waiting for watching it

  • of course yes..he is Iko Uwais ! he can defeat your Tony Jaa !

  • nah kali2 yg kayak gini kek..... masa juriggg....mulu!!!!!

  • WOW... kerennn... akhirnya keluar juga film action yg bikin gak sabar bwt di tonton :D

    keren2... wiiii...

    MAJU TERUS INDONESIAAA !!

  • akhirnya film indo yg fresh dan gokiiil.

  • i dont really find this guy intimidating

  • aneh aja liat komentar semua...

dibilang niru lah, dibilang ngga original lah,

  • keren sob...mirip tom yum goong

    biarpun dibilang niru....

    meniru itu susah lo ....

  • no it's way different from ong-bak.

  • this movie is totally different from ong bak

    you'll see.

  • @ tirucanot: this film is rubbish? ong bak copy bla bla bla .... ni siquiera ver la película aún!!!

se debe liberar en agosto de 2009!!!

  • I hope people would stop thinking that this is just another Tony Jaa rip-off. Tony Jaa, however awesome he is, did not invent the martial arts cinema. This film DOES look like Ong Bak - but just because Indonesian contemporary society is not unlike Thai society - similarities do occur because both countries share similar premise and living condition to some extent. As for the filming technique, well all I can say is don't judge a film based on its trailer, LOL

  • So what's new? Everything is building off the success of everything else. I tend to see it this way - wasn't there a time when Jet Li and Jackie Chan were touted as Bruce Lee's rip-off? Over the time these two martial artists develop their own styles and became originals in their own rights. The Indonesian martial arts cinema is barely on its conception stage - this film is a decent start and I think over time it will develop its own style. At least the martial arts is an Indonesian original.

  • just some other facts:

    - about indonesian acting movies production. comparred to thailand simmilar genre, thai is one step ahead (in technical aspects) .. this Merantau movie -as far as I recall- is the first indonesian acting movie after about 20 years .. there were indonesian traditional action movies back in 80's

So, yeah .. this first effort might not as cool as chinese kungfu movies, but still we the Indonesians have great expectation of this momentum, hopely as much as you all do

    enjoy!

    keep up the good work!

    some facts about this movie:

    - it's action/martial art based on silek/silat harimau of minangkabau - west sumatra, one of hundreds of pencak silat styles in indonesia

    - the unique knife featured in this trailer; Karambit, is a traditional daily life equipments for some people in sumatra (also thailand & philipine?) ... [continued]

  • .. Karambit is also used as silat weapon. 'quote from wiki' ~ it is said that the shape of the Karambit is related to animist beliefs about the power of Harimau (tigers), and thus the karambit is in the shape of a tiger claw

    - the movie also features the philosopy of Minangkabau culture's MERANTAU

    - (semi-SPOILER) although many moves in this movie is quite simmilar to those of kungfu or thai styles, we will see the original style of silat (here silat Harimau style) in grand fight of this movie:)

  • Looks pretty badass

  • looks like a tony jaa rip off, by the way its filmed etc. plus jaa is better

  • i was thinking the same thing. onk bak the thai warrior

  • kickass

  • Are you retarded or something?

    It's the same, idiot..

Kabau = Kerbau in Minang language..

Oh you can't understand english? My bad my bad.. I seldom using bahasa in youtube.. that's why.. Well you can use google translator.. If you know what google translator is..

  • kerbau or kabau dude??lol

  • please do some data research before you say about something...

and don't humiliate us in Seremban...

  • ini film indonesia bukan punya malaysia

    f**k malingsia moron

  • ati2 neh pelm jangan sampe di klaim sama negri maling

  • ohohoho ada anak maling yang IRI...

UDAH MENTAL MALING, MENTAL IRI LAGI

  • finally..

  • mayne, can you say new tony jaa?

  • Silat Harimau ( Tiger Silat )

The Most Deadliest Silat ( i think )

    CMIIW

  • this is all about pencak silat

  • he has style look like 50% Tony Jaa.

  • The elbow and the knee attack may be similar but the hand movement, the tackle, the throwing was Silat.

  • Whats this about?

  • looking good

  • cant wait till this film come out!

  • Badass movie looks badass.

  • swear gw merinding liat ni trailer, pa lagi kalo liat komplitnya

    maju terus Film Indonesia !!!

  • hidup perfilman INDONESIA!!

  • shit... nice.

    next Jackie Chan??

    5/5.

  • Got my "ASS KICKING FIX!" Love the end.

  • thats ALOT of SILAT lol muaha get it? this reminds me of om bakk warrior.

  • tony jaa from ong bak is stuntman and producer but he did learned bout silat Indonesia technics as well that's why looks familiar... :)

  • agree with you..in south east asia only has two famous martial arts..they are silat and muay thai..i think tony jaa also learned about silat technics..if he's not learned silat,it's just cause Indonesia and thailand has a little bit similarity in cultures so sometime muay thai and silat looks the same..

  • yes you're right cause i've watched Ong Bak 2 and some movements are really familiar for me as Indonesian and also the ancient outfits.. from the characters of Ong Bak 2 reminds me to Indonesian ancient outfits and culture as
