  • thanks!!

  • So do u have to put ur fingers in ur vagina?!

  • @FreeToBeMeEmma -- Yes. But hopefully, a person will wash their hands when they go to the bathroom, lol. In that case it doesn't really matter, because the hands will be clean. Also, your vagina is attached to you. Its INSIDE you. So there really is no way to avoid touching it, because technically, you are always touching it. The same blood that flows through the veins of your vagina, will be flowing through the veins of your face in a couple of minutes.

  • How do I know if the cup is full?

  • @NanaCR101 -- Basically, the same way you knew to change a pad or tampon the first time you ever used them-- same system goes for a menstrual cup. The first time you try it, you just go in the bathroom to take it out every few hours and check to see how full it is. Its most important to do this on your heaviest day. And from that day on-- you will always know how long it takes. And also, you learn your own little signs, like when you start to feel air going out a lot, its full.

  • Can I use a cup even if I'm 14 and virgin? Because pads irritates my skin

  • @anothertwilightmom -- Yes you can! The youngest people I know who use them are 11. The only requirement is that you've reached an age where you've started having periods. But someone you age might do better with the smaller ones, like small Meluna, small ladycup, small Lunette, small Si-Bell.

  • How long can you have it in for?

  • @amy072899 -- it really depends how heavy your flow is. If its heavy, you will need to change it more often. But if you have a very light flow, you are "allowed" to wear it for 10 to 12 hours. But never wear it longer than that, without emptying and cleaning it. After cleaning, you can put it back in.

  • wat if you put it in to far and it gets stuck

  • @nytasha1998 We are not that long inside. Most vaginas are like 3 to 5 inches long. They are closed off at the end, like a pocket, so there is nowhere for a cup to go. Then you have the 2 to 3 inches of total length of a cup and its stem, so with all this in mind, that is not very likely to happen. Not unless you have an extremely long vagina, and you get an extremely short cup. But even in that case, you can squat and push down with you PC muscles to bring the cup down more.

  • I want one..but dayuumm it's so big!

  • @Annncregz -- my camera tends to exaggerate the appearance of things. They really aren't that big. And different brands are very different in their size, there are smaller ones.

  • this is fantastic, thankyou!

  • @CraZyAzNdReaMeR U can use pads too

  • Wow that looks a lot bigger than a tampon... Is it uncomfortable to put in and take out?

  • @NataliaMurad1 -- That's what I thought when I first saw it. But oddly, I find it MORE comfortable than a tampon, as do most people. Its because tampons are absorbent so they dry you up, plus they are rigid. But cups don't dry you ups, and they are flexible. Some virgins have discomfort, but that goes away when they adjust, just like tampons. But most people, its fine.

  • can you exercise with this in??

  • @ri0yacu3a -- Yes you can :) I do.

  • wont it be painful if u insert it? do u have to stick ur finger inside too to put the cup in?

  • @angiecakie66 -- For most people, it does not hurt (assuming you have no vaginal medical conditions). Virgins or very sensitive people may feel some discomfort until they adjust.

  • are you allowed to sleep with it on...? [u prob arent right]

  • @iSweetChan -- yes you can sleep with them in.

  • Like @queenatit1, I, too, have never heard of this. Do menstrual cups come in various sizes? And if you don't mind answering, what brand of menstrual cups do you find the best in terms of overall quality and effectiveness?

Thank you for sharing this video! Honestly, I've only started using tampons, and I find them uncomfortable. Hopefully, menstrual cups will be a better and more comfortable alternative. =)

  • @CraZyAzNdReaMeR -- They certainly do come in different sizes. But how many depends what brand you choose. Femmecup only has one size. Meluna has 4. Naturcup has 3. But all the others have 2. As for which is the best... Honestly, anyone who tries to label one cup as the best, will have a thousand people disagree with them! "The best" is totally different for each person, because we are all very different inside. In a private message, I can help you narrow it down.

  • what planet have I been living on...I have NEVER even heard of a menstrual cup! Wow, I learn something new everyday...jeez.

  • Thank you for posting this! The sponge really helped clear things up for me. I am waiting for my Lunette to be delivered today and am surprised on how much I'm looking forward to trying it. I did want to ask if the the grip is suppose to stick out from the lips or if you can push it further in for more comfort sitting? Or if that's not advised and that's why people trim?

  • @acowboykid -- The grip, or stem, is mean to be just inside, in far enough so that it won't bother you, but you can still reach it. You can trim it to suit your needs. Wear the cup for at least an hour, before deciding how much needs to be trimmed, because sometimes they settle a bit as you walk around, sit, etc.

  • what if you you where it too long and it gets too full and when you take it out the blood comes gushing out?? how do you know when its full? how long do you wear it for?

  • @pnutbuttaluvva -- Good questions. Basically the first time you use it, you just try it when you are home in the evenings, and you can use a pad for backup. No risk there. You just take it out every few hours to see how full it is. Do this especially on your heaviest day. From then on, you will always know how long it takes to fill up. Any place you go to the bathroom, you can manage a cup. Some bottled water to rinse over the toilet if there is no sink.

  • i never knoew about this until now I am so going to get me some of these cups. I like to wear skirts and go out but be afraid to because I am on my mestaural and scared i might get blood into my clothing.

  • does it hurts?

  • @Scho0Lhater -- For most people, no. Virgins may experience some discomfort until they get used to it.

  • Hello. When it opens (after you let go) does it hurt? is it soft or hard?

  • @theDedDucky I've never had it hurt. And I have tried almost every brand. But I guess it really depends which brand you use, and how sensitive you are. Some brands are firmer than others. Some brands are really soft. Firmer ones open easier. Softer ones take more work to pop open, but they can be more comfortable for sensitive people.

  • Thank you for all the instructional videos on menstrual cups! I have purchased both the Instead and a mooncup. I am an extremely heavy bleeder. I have used the Ultra weight tampons and overnight pads for years, and my change time is less than three hours for either product. I hope to extend that time with these products, but even if I don't, I believe

the cost savings will be worth the change.

  • @MissNazia01 if someone is a virgin, there may be some discomfort until they get used to it. But most people actually find it more comfortable to wear than tampons.

  • Thanks for this video! I am buying one this week and was feeling a little insecure about the removal technique :) this is a fantastic product for women.

  • What if the thing goes way up "there" how will you get it out?? Or has it ever happen?

  • @NiceIce19 -- Women's vaginas are not that long, its only the length from the opening to the cervix, and the end is closed off like a pocket. So there's really nowhere for it to go. We do all have different lengths, but that's what the stem if for, if you are shorter inside you can trim it. If youre longer inside, leave it.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo Oh okay.

  • just purchased a Naturcup! Wanted to ask you... When you wash it with soap and water, do you have to dry it before inserting it back in the vagina, or can it be damp?? Also, when swimming, do you have to empty and wash it every time you get out of the water, like a tampon, or it doesnt let any water get in?? Can't wait to try it out! :D

  • @Ichthyologistic -- You don't have to dry it. Actually a bit of water can make it more comfortable to insert. You can empty it before you swim, but you should have to keep emptying it again and again, if you have the right size and its inserted right. Sometimes water can go in, but the strange thing is-- everyone who says that happened, they say it only went in, but nothing came out. Interesting.

  • Thanks one thing if I'm in a public bathroom how do I clean it I have on the go Playtex sport wipes that are flushable do I wipe it clean with that? Please msg me the answer

  • @GirlBeauty275 -- See my cleaning video on my channel just click my screen name and its int he list, some good ideas on that video

  • hi which one would you recommend for a 16 year old with quite a heavy flow and one that can be bought in the uk :)

  • @ellenradage -- You can try the UK Mooncup, or order a cup from femininewear . co . uk they are based in the UK and have lots of brands. Heavy flow, divacup is good, or Miacup

  • wow i want one of these. They seem so much easier than pads and tampons.

  • Actually no third time wasn't the charm. I feel like idk if I can do it. I'm gonna keep trying though. I sorta am getting it almost inside. I think I don't know where to put my fingers and how to get it all the way in there before letting go. And by the time I realize what I should try, I'm so sore down there that I want to take a break and recover before trying again.

  • Okay I am going to try for the third time now - it's my first day of my period, my first period since getting my small lunette in the mail. I'm a virgin and not super great at using tampons even, sometimes I need 2 tries to get those in... so it's not surprising that I'm having trouble with this one. I really hope I can get it in this time. Maybe the third time will be the charm. :P

  • Whwt about IUD, can I still use it if I have an IUD???

  • @gris126 -- Lots of people use an IUD with a cup, but some companies are better for this than others. Check the company websites, and make sure they say theirs is ok to use with an IUD

  • Thank you for demonstrating! I now have a better understanding on what this is and how to use it. I just read about it in Glamour magazine and cannot believe this has existed for so many decades without my knowledge. I've wasted too much money, time, worry, and toxic waste on tampons. This sounds much "greener," efficient, and makes more sense than stuffing paper inside of you.

  • Wow it seems great :)

  • I don't like the name of the "punch down" fold. Anything with the word "punch" in it relating to my vagina makes me very uncomfortable! I'd rather call that a "pinch fold", and the first one a "C fold" or something...! hehe.

  • I am 13 years old, and I have kind of a heavy flow at times. Could you recommend a cup for me?

  • @madisong98 -- at your age, maybe a small Lunette or a small Fleurcup, or small Yuuki. They are not too big, but they hold more than other smalls.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo Thank you! I talked to my mom about it, but she isn't sure and wants to talk to my doctor first.

  • I just don't see how this is practical if you are out in public.

  • @catskratch2 -- well in a pinch, the companies say its perfectly ok, to empty it in the toilet, wipe it with a paper towel, and re-insert it. Most people just use a dry paper towel, or they wet it down and ring it out before they go in the stall. Also some menstrual cup companies make special disinfecting wipes you can take around with you in your pocket. You don't have to wash it in the sink in a public restroom.

  • What brand is this one? I hope it works better then the Instead softcup

  • @tinagirl1992 -- In this particular video, I'm using a small Yuuki.

  • Thanks for the video, very informative and honest!

  • @lakoleful -- Its perfectly normal to need some practice at first. Some people get it quick, some people it takes a while of practice. Keep trying, try different folds, stay relaxed. Don't tense your muscles. Never clench your jaw, that tightens pelvic floor muscles. Release the muscles down there like you're going pee. Aim back toward the rectum, never straight up.

  • JUST BOUGHT MINE RIGHT THIS SECOND, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! I REALLY NEEDED IT =) XOXO

  • is it possible that it wont stay in the cup?

  • @chantelxxcha0s -- The only way it leaks is if you get the wrong one, or you don't put it in right. Or sometimes a physical abnormality up inside. But otherwise, it stays in.

  • whats the most long lasting menstrual cup

  • @abiapples1 -- Pretty much all reusable menstrual cups can last for 5 to 10 years, if you take very good care of them, by the instructions the company gives. They've all (reusables) got the same lasting potential.

  • Thanks so much for this video! I was testing and trying to figure out on my own and didn't know if what I was feeling was right or wrong. This was super helpful - especially the sponge demonstration!

  • it looks very useful but im worryed if it gets stuck or something.is it safe to sleep with? just a couple of thoughts that might be useful to consider

  • @99lifeismusic It is safe to sleep with, and they have a longer stem to reach, kind of like tampons do, you you can grab them. You just pinch the bottom and rock them back and fourth and that breaks the light suction so you can take it out. I've been using cups for 4 years, never had it get stuck.

  • it looks very useful but im worryed if it gets stuck or something.is it safe to sleep with? just a couple of thoughts that might be useful to consider

  • @99lifeismusic -- Its safer than the traditional stuff, because it can be sterilized. Break the suction it won't get stuck. You can wear it at night, its ok if the blood contacts your inner vaginal skin. Period blood is thick, so the same deposits remain in side you all day long, even when you use a pad. Meaning it doesn't just flow out of you nice and clean like water through a funnel. Some of it is always lingering in there, sometimes for days. Our bodies are used to that.

  • How do you know if it's full?... And I've heard you can use certain ones during sex... But won't it like, get pushed too far in you?.. :P

  • @ImTheRingLeader -- The first time you ever use one, its best to try it on a night when you will be at home. take it out and check every few hours. From then on, you will know how long it takes you to fill it. You can use the 'Instead' brand during sex. But your partner just brushed by the soft 'bag' part of it, so it doesn't' get pushed up.

  • That looks painful, you know, just POPPING UP inside you

  • @jewelryismyfriend -- Its kinda different when its inside, like the way your insides collapse against it, it's more like slowly "expanding" open, usually.

  • Are these expensive?

  • @IHeartRingette - They normally cost $25 USD to $39 USD. But they pay for themselves after a few periods, in savings on disposables and they last up to 10 years.

  • HOW DO I CONVINCE MY GIRLFRIEND TO USE THIS? I WOULD RATHER HER USE THIS INSTEAD OF POLLUTING TAMPONS ESPECIALLY SINCE I EAT HER TAMPONS

  • @velin02 -- You can present the idea to her, but ultimately it is only her choice. A person has to be comfortable with the products they use for their period, so let her research it, and if she likes it maybe she will try it.

  • I have a pretty heavy flow recently (go through a super absorbancy tampon within 2 hours) and to me when i push the tampon out of the applicator, it doesnt go in all the way. Like it hits a wall. (yes i angled it right and yes i pushed the applicator in to where its supposed to). Is that just the back of the vagina? It doesnt feel too deep... im wondering if the cup will be too long for me or not hold alot of fluid cuz id have to get a shorter one? Will it leak?

  • @HouseFan13akaTara -- Could it just be dryness? Or it may be just your unique angle. For most of us, we slant straight back like we're trying to push it through the vaginal wall into our rectum-- that's what works best. But some people will slant up a little more. You could try wetting the applicator. I know that before I learned my correct angle, I simply could not get a tampon to go all the way in. It felt like it stayed RIGHT at the opening, and it would hurt if I sat or bent.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo Yea, thats how mine feels. But i guess i will get it right. Ill have to because i havnt seen any menstrual cups here.. lol

  • What cup are you using here?

  • @shinyhappyhairhead -- That's a small Yuuki cup

  • Great, really informative. Thanks :)

  • Hello, thanks for the nice video, I just have one question. Are you supposed to see the stem sticking out of your vagina? As in physically seeing it touch your panties, etc.? Or do you stick the stem up there too? I really want to buy a menstrual cup, they seem great but I'm a little scared i might shove everything up too far, lol!

  • @Whillowe -- The stem is supposed to be just inside, you should not be able to see or feel it. But if your cervix is really low, the cup will sit down very low. If its high, the cup will sit up high. The stem can be trimmed if your are short inside, or left alone if you are long inside-- so that its just inside and comfortable. But exactly what length that will be for you depends on where your cup naturally likes to sit. I would say wear the cup for a few hours, see if the stem needs trimming

  • So, do you stand up with your panties around your ankles and waddle to the sink to rinse this thing off?

  • @Jaylectricity - You can, or you can do what most people do-- just wear some toilet paper like a temporary pad, while you wash it.

  • I want to try it but I'm scared wearing it might stretch me out.

  • @arikitten -- If you still have a hymen, it can break that, but it doesn't stretch out the vagina. The vagina is a very strong and stretchy / flexible muscle. It can stretch to the size of a baby's head, and then shrink back down again to a size enjoyable for intimacy. Also, even people who have never had a baby, but are sexually active, they still shrink back pretty small when they haven't been active. Some even report feeling tighter with a cup, because they are constantly keggeling it.

  • @jjellybbeannxxo -- Our cervix at the end of the vagina keeps everything closed off up there. It has a tiny hole that's so small and tight-fitting, our uterus has to cramp hard in order to push blood out. So Any blodd in the cup might touch the skin at the top, but it cannot flow back inside you. And blood touching the skin is ok, because menstrual blood is thick. Even with pads or tampons, traces of the same blood deposits remain in there all day, or at least for hours on end.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo How would you know if the cup is full. also how many hours would you recommend the cup being allowed in for before you have to remove it?. Good Video, Btw is it safe for 13 year olds to use?

  • @storiemakerqueen1997 -- The first day you use one (but also on your heaviest day), you just remove it every couple of hours to see how full it is, and from then on, you will always know about how long it takes. If you want, you can practice with it only in the evenings, while you are at home, until you are confident. Most companies say to never leave it in longer than 10 to 12 hours without emptying it and washing it. But it also depends how heavy your flow is, you may need to empty more.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo So It is alright for school and stuff. cool. because I Can never usually do Gym while I'm on my period because of my pads and also I've never tried them but I Bet Tampons hurt. Man Us women have to put up with a-lot. . . .and I Mean A-LOT! -__-

Thanks for the info Btw. Love your video's, they're very useful

  • @storiemakerqueen1997 -- The youngest girl I ever spoke to who used one was 11, by the way. I guess it just depends how you feel about it culturally, religiously, or personally, because it can break the hymen.

  • Can you still use the bathroom with this type of cup without having to take it out?

  • @Renton8605 Yes you can

  • OMG i hate my period i cunt use this tho!! good vidiio tho

  • Those cup things freak me out for some reason :\ I mean I would love to help the earth more by using a cup thingy but yeh... I recon they should make biodegradable tampons/pads.. In fact I think they may have already

  • @TardisCraze939 -- True, but the earth isn't the only reason people use cups. They also use them for better health, and for a cleaner feeling, a more natural flow process, less changing, it doesn't dry you out as much, and it doesn't put strange chemicals in your body, or cause TSS. And no more having to buy that stuff in front of everyone at the store. But we all like something different, just depends on your lifestyle I guess, that is the one thing we should all have freedom of choice over.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo Yeh fair call :) thanks for posting the video by the way I didn't know exatly how they worked before cheers :D

  • Justin Bieber as a tag really really and it looks like it doesnt hold that much blood I gots a heavy flow

  • @zoeemail25 LOL! + Miley Cyrus & li'l wayne

  • 1) How do you keep from making a mess (free flowing, so to speak) while washing the cup after each use?

    2) Have you ever dropped it in the toilet?

  • @michelleb611 -- You empty it in the toilet before you wash it. As you're washing it, the little bits that might still be there just flow right down the drain, so there's no mess. I've never dropped it in the toilet (knock on wood, lol). But if you do, you can just wash it with soap and water to kill the germs, and / or boil it to sterilize it. Germs don't soak into this material, so anything that gets on it can just wash right off the smooth surface.

  • Did you get partnered? I noticed an ad at the beginning of your video. :)

  • @waterlily716 -- Yep, I sure did! Google Adsense and the youtube partner program too. Kinda cool, with Adsense, its only very popular videos that get it. But once you are a YouTube partner, you have the choice to do it with all your videos.

  • I love that I'm helping the earth. And its cheaper than pads...

  • I love the diva cup. N the beggining it irritated me so I cut the stem and turned inside out. That worked for me its smooth feeling now.

  • im 11 do you recommend i shud use this?

    i just mine

  • @muskaan0101 -- I do know 11 year olds who use menstrual cups. But its something that you and your legal guardians should discuss. It will break the hymen. Of course, virginity is not defined by the condition of the hymen, since it is very easily torn and even sports, falling down, and dancing/stretching can tear it. Also, many are born without a hymen. Virginity is really defined by a person's behavior. But some families/cultures/religions have unique opinions. Best to discuss it first.

  • i agree i love!!!!! the sponge video, it's the best demonstration as close to the anatomy as possible. Thank you so much for your expertise and time you put into these videos.

  • How do you keep from getting blood all over yourself when taking it out?

  • @andrichj420 -- That's the thing, its soft enough to be comfortable, but still firm enough to hold its round shape during removal. You just make sure you empty it on time, which for most people, its anywhere from 5 to 12 hours, depending on how heavy your flow is. During the first couple of days you try it, you just remove it every few hours to check, and you will learn how long that is for you. From then on, you will always know. Just like with pads or tampons.

  • Is it comfortamble to do gym, swim, splits?

  • @TheMrSkaterboy14 -- They are pretty comfortable for sports, dancing, swimming and other physical activities, yes. Just get the right size and a good brand.

  • Is the small Yuuki as stiff as the small Ladycup? I want to try this cup but I found the small Ladycup's rim too stiff (that is what I tried), and don't want to experience the same isssue with another cup. I also tried the small Lunette and love it, it is my goldilocks cup. Is the small Yuuki as soft/stiff as the small Lunette?

  • So does the tail end stick out, or does that get inserted all the way too?

  • @uberwekkness -- The tail / stem should not be sticking out, but some people are shorter inside than others, like if they have a low cervix or something. In that case, the stem can be trimmed so that it does not stick out. But leave enough to where you can still grab / reach it. You should wear your cup for a minimum of a few hours, before deciding how much of the stem to trim.

  • But where's the saucer?

  • @unclealand -- I guess that would be the pantyliner, if someone chose to wear it.

  • @TheHealthyperson96 -- Its ok, they make smaller sizes for younger people, or virgins. But of course size varies greatly from one brand to another. Also it depends what a person's religious or cultural views are.

  • I don't think this would be convenient for use inside a public bathroom stall.

  • @ilovefeelincheap -- Actually, I have used it loads of times in a public stall. You have several options, you can keep some Lunette Menstrual Cup disinfecting wipes with you to wipe it after you empty it, or just wet down a hand-drying paper towel and ring it out before you go in. Some people also keep bottled water in their purse.

  • This is something I'd really like to try, but I'm only 12 and I don't know if it would be safe. Is this safe for all ages?

  • @gdoan5 -- It is, I know people as young as 11 who use them. But if you are really young, then you should consider 2 things: 1, size. 2, how heavy your flow is. A lot of people automatically go for the smallest cup (at this time, its a small Meluna), and discover that it doesn't hold enough liquid, and they have to empty it constantly. If your flow is more medium or heavier, then small Lunette, small Yuuki, or small Fleurcup would be better.

  • doesn't it spill everywhere when you take it out???

  • @wizgali1234 -- Its soft and flexible to be comfortable, but still firm enough to hold its shape. You just ease it into an upright position as you take it out, and it won't spill. I can get one in and out with no more mess than a tampon.

  • should the stem be outside of the vagina like a tampon string is?

  • @heidishoshana -- No, it should be just inside, to where you can reach it, but its comfortable. It can be trimmed to suit you.

  • how do i tell my mom that i want this ??

  • @twix1616 -- under the video, click on the link there, you will see lots of other links. Show your mom my WordPress blog, there is a TON of information there, for curious parents.

  • Wow!! This video is VERY INFORMATIVE.THANKYOU SO MUCH!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ABOUT TO SAY THIS BUT I AM EXCITED ABOUT HAVING MY MENSTRUAL NOW AS I AM ON IT AS WE SPEAK(TMI)BUT 4 MY NEXT CYCLE I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO EITHER BUYING THE INSTEAD SOFTCUP OR THE DIVACUP.IT'S WORTH GIVING A TRY.I AM GLAD THAT WOMEN DO HAVE OTHER OPTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO MENSTRUATION N THEIR TYPICAL PADS N TAMPONS NUISANCE.NOW THERE'S A BETTER SOLUTION. THAMKYOU,AGAIN 4 THIS VIDEO..

  • i really want one of these but my mom wont let me order one because she thinks ill get an infection and various other reasons. how can i convince her?

  • @actinggirl333 -- Tell her the truth-- that tampons and pads cause more infections than cups ever will, because Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is caused by things that "absorb", which cups do not-- but tampons do. And pads cause infections because they block off airflow to the area, and keep it far too moist-- a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria. Then you can let her read my information blog on WordPress, the link is in the video description below the video, just click there.

  • @actinggirl333 -- Hope that helps :)

  • it's hurts trying to get it in .. !!

can you get infection from cleaning it with regular water because of the chemicals or do they sell ccertain water solution that you can clean it with ?

  • @lunarez10 -- Assuming you have no medical conditions, just try to relax your body, that's very important. Also try using different folds, I have a folding method video on my channel. Always aim back toward the rectum or lower tail bone, never aim straight up. You can also try wetting it with water, or water-based lube, since those are safe. Do not use anything oil-based. Regular water is just fine to clean it with. Each company has their own cleaning methods to suggest.

  • getting it in is the easy part. Getting it out seems ridiculously hard. My vagina seems to fight me when I try to get it out. D: Is that normal?

  • @chesterchewbacca -- It depends what brand you have, some brands suction is less intense. It also depends on removal techniques. A lot of people find it easier to pinch the bottom and rock it from side to side, but some people prefer to dent in the side of the cup with their finger and allow air to go in.

  • I have never seen any of these cups in canada,Ontario does any one know if they have them here??

  • @kirm209 -- Divacup is manufactured in Canada. Usually these are sold in health food stores.

  • @kirm209 I'm from Ontario and I used to find "Instead" or "Softcups" at Shoppers.

  • @kirm209

Look in a healthfood store (:

I found mine when I was looking for herbal tea lol

  • @sallyrocks12 -- shockingly some people think they hurt less than tampons, because tampons soak up all your moisture and the more dry you are, the harder it is to get things in. Once we get past that first 1/2 inch of muscles, the inside is surprisingly big. There are smaller cups for virgins. If you have a hymen, it may take time to work around it. But girls as young as 12 use these.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo

I'd have to agree, they hurt way less than tampons, I can't even feel mine and removal isn't a problem, either.

    I love it.

My sister is almost 12 (she will be at the end of the month) and she's been using one for a few months and loves it.

  • Owww wouldn't that hurt?!?!

  • @alicenaja101 -- klf070196 also asked that. Some virgins may experince some discomfort, btu they also do with tampons. However, it goes away with practice. But since its folded into a smaller size when its inserted, most sexually active women won't have a problem with it.

  • @MenstrualCupInfo are you a sexually active women?

  • @Iamcalebalonzo -- I'm married, so yes. However, even the sizes meant for non-sexually active women still work for me. But that's not the case for some people. Everyone is different, I suppose.

  • this looks like it hurts....

  • Thousands of women and young girls as young as 12 use these. So it does fit. There are different sizes, really small ones for young women, and larger ones for moms, etc.

  • One ? .. Can you go in the water while wearing this??

  • @orrante18 -- Yes, many people swim with these, shower, bathe, etc.

  • @Gkg3692 -- Actually that's one of the great things about these-- you don't get ANY of that icky period smell like you do with pads and tampons.

  • Thank you for this video! I have been wanting to try one of these for a while but I'm worried about it causing discomfort. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable with a regular tampon in, so I don't know how one of these would make me feel. I really want to try one though :(

  • (another comment) since the vagina is slanted, it doesnt give the cup a chance to fill to its full capacity without leaking through the holes at the top.

  • @XxChristiii -- If you have the right size and brand for your needs, leaking is pretty rare. If it happens, its usually when you leave it in too long on a heavy day. But if you watch your flow levels the first time you use it, you will know when it needs to be emptied, its a good idea to empty it before it gets full. The blood doesn't usually leak through the holes that I know of, because its fairly thick, and the holes are small. At first, just use it at home, until you're confident.

  • And is it okay to use cups while your sleeping? I really dont want to leak.

(lots of questions) how do they hold up with an active daily life? (sports etc.)

  • You have no idea how helpful this was. Iv been wanting to use a cup but was a bit nervous on how to insert it and all. Your videos are very helpful on how the cups work.

But how would you know when it was full?

  • @XxChristiii -- The first time you use it, you just check it ever couple of hours. From then on, you will know how long it takes.

  • When you are sleeping, can the blood leak through the suction release holes? It seems like it could happen easily...

  • @polkadorable -- The blood is fairly thick, so no, not really. But you shoudl always make sure you have the right size for your flow level. if its really heavy, you might want a brand with mroe capacity, or even a large. The biggest mistake I see people with heavy flows make is getting a small just because it might be more comfortable. Flow shoudl always be considered, since we don't want to have to empty our cups twice as often :)
