There's no problem with Hollywood. The problem is with Wiccans. I love Wiccans and Neopaganism, but many, many, many, many Wiccans have this notion that they own the word witch. They don't. There's all kinds of witches and they are good, bad, or someplace in between. In fact, most people who claim to be witches freely admit they are not Wiccan. In fact, many people who claim to be Wiccan really aren't as well. LOL
Most of the little things mentioned in films like Harry Potter ,like the Mandrake root and other things are all part of British folklore. There are tons of info out there so keep an eye out. Children over here are told little stories in lower school that we then forget as we get older. But its all fun and great to know! Thanks again!x
Personally, I love the movie the Craft, and my favourite show is still Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They're entertaining.
What pisses me off is movies like Baby Momma where he seragate mother who was a Wiccan had a silent birthing and had the father eat the placenta. They've definately confused two different religions and made us look like nut jobs. Or in the Blair Witch 2, the Wiccan girl was SO over the top lol.
Anyways, I loved the video. And the firecrackers were kinda funny :)
You make a good point and i do agree with you, however if hollywood made a film or based a film on real wicca then it would be pretty boring wouldn't it, wicca is prayer and visualization and worship of the earth and god and goddess. Today im popular culture it wouldn't look right if there wasn't any special effects. so you know what i mean.
Really awesome point - I completely agree. I often draw on visual effects I've seen on tv when I need to visualise energy. It's weird actually, that when I visualise the spirit of one of the ponds near me, she resembles the Lady of the Lake in that Merlin miniseries they showed a while back!
Those fireworks must've been annoying - well done for ignoring it! :)
lol I love Charmed...anyways what you said about people watching harry potter and stuff and getting interested in it is true... When i was younger my bestie and i used to love 'pretending' to be witches and we would go out to her garden and get herbs and stuff mix it all up and drink it in water =P lol and all that but we were influenced to do this alot through harry potter and charmed and stuff...And now its about 9 years later and I now classify myself as a wiccan... but thats how it started..
heya... ok im sorry i will prob end up commenting every video, i should probably stop - haha.
I dont really know what to say.. i just like listening to you. oh.. i love buffy and charmed, and im a wiccan.. so i dont get how people can be mad at it all.. its just a bit of fun at the end of the day.
anyway.. im off to watch some more of your videos.. haha
Speaking on the Harry Potter thing. It must be a new thing with parents. I don't ever remember my parents forbiding be from reading a fantasy book or seeing a movie and such.
I remember a series of books (they even made a movie) Called The Worst Witch. No one ever tried to ban it that I know of. Now I know I didn't become Pagan because I read the books and saw the movie! I also collect images of the syerotypical image of the witch I love it. I'm sure folks don't thing we really look like that
Good vid, and I agree. I've always loved Buffy, The Craft, Charmed etc etc etc. Not because I live in some fantasy world where I think everything on TV is real. But it's entertainment, and everything that might give you inspiration and energy to go about making your own life better, is worth it. Like music, shows can set you into a certain type of mood and fill your spirit with passion for a subject, nothing wrong with these types of shows at all. As long as it's put into perspective.
I like The Craft and love Charmed, never really got into Buffy though? Anyways, I agree with you. I think having the special effects in those shows could potentionally help if one is having trouble with visualizations.
And you said: "still researching"
Ah, I think no one stops researching when on a spiritual path. Which is good! I love to do my own research, and not blindly accept what I've been told as "truth". Keep researching my friend. Knowledge is Power!! :0) Blessed Be!
there so much fun to watch for entertainment purposes, i could go all out on buffy and what i like lol but i wont haha
i figure if a show or movie or painting or whatever, if they have things that can help you visualize, but also entertain and educate, then they are good to watch
also at about 1:15, your expression was awesome and cute too lol
you have a good point. I mean, Hollywood does give the advantage of visualization. Personally, I love "The Craft", but I don't think it portrays Wicca in the right way, even though they had Faruzia Bulk, and Another Wiccan high priestess. I do think that it is a great movie in explaining the morals in Witchcraft though (the threefold law). Anyway, great video and keep doin what you do best. Blessed Be! )O(
i agree with you about visualization, i do have trouble imagining protection bubbles, ive never really watched buffy or charmed but i might have a look to see if i can find something like that to help me picture stuff for protection, very good video hun x x
I love that the expression on your face when the crackers off and that you manage to keep going!
