Keys are fantastic. I like the "trippy" selection of sounds. That's what works if you hear the solo in the original. Also the guitarist switching to over drive on the band run that ends each phrase. The pocket between the drummer and bass needs to be more syncopated I think and less straight like a rock groove. Like the addition of the trumpet. Overall cool.Tough song.
umm not too awesome not the key's solo. but thats his style ^^ i've seen a much much way better on the java jazz festival lately. n it was super awesome. its pity that i didnt recorded it. TT
The Keyboard solo was awesome! I liked it, as for AquaDonkey's childish comments only a complete twat who cant play for shit would make such comments! If Aquadickhead is an allstar player lets see your stuff!!! Grow up and make your pathetic negative comments elsewhere.
you talking about the whole band or just some members?...we got together an hour before this gig. half the band members have never heard of the tune...or herbie hancock for that matter.
think you can do better son? show me! these people i played with have never played or heard this tune before and they did a fine job considering there was only one rehearsal a hour before they played this. its pretty sad when people like you throw comments around with nothing to back it up with. grow up!
Firstly, I was not talking about the group, just the trumpet, who didnt even play the right notes. Face it, the trumpet player was outshined big time by the other members
thank you for clarifying that and making it clear what you didnt like about it. my bad. i didnt see that you were responding to xamax8888 and Tribesmackavich's comments. yes her level wasnt up to par but it was the first time ever she was required to play that tune let alone a solo. she was reluctant but the band kind of pushed her to go there. got to start somewhere.
i can. The song bassist had no feel or sense of the pocket. The drummer was sad. The Keyboardist KILLED the song by trying to sound like Vadim from Dragonforce. The everything else is not even worth mentioning.
yet another comment from someone thats clearly pretty clueless in regards to genre, improv, sound design and overall musicality. my keyboard playing has absolutely no connection to vadim in this instance. if you had any idea of 70's and 80's funk, you would appreciate that i was copying A. a rhodes sound and B. an analog lead synth sound (minmoog/arp or similar). i didnt even play any harmonic minor stuff here like vadim usually does....
....so your comment on me trying to sound like vadim and killing the song is UNFOUNDED and COMPLETELY WITHOUT MERIT. if i have to play a dragonforce song, i would play in that style and play a 100 notes a second. vadim is
an accomplished player but i CLEARLY dont play any of his style here....
....its sad that you're clutching at straws here..just saying things you clearly cant back up one bit. i take it you're prob a failed/insecure musician or not at all...in any case i suggest you stick to your day job and if you got nothing constructive to say to us...be quiet.
..and what is 'the everything else'...speak english. my 4 year old can phrase better than that! too funny.
lol, you are funny. 1st, Dragonforce uses Pentatonics almost all the time. Your solo does not fit 70's funk/fusion one bit. Just listen to Herbie's original. I play drums and bass way better then the kids in your band do, and probably synth better than you.
aquadonkey, why did you for one second think i was trying to cop any of herbie hancock's playing?...i was talking about my sound. yeah youre probably right you play drums, bass better than these people and synth better than me....that why there's a whole ton of vids of YOU playing your a** off on your youtube site isnt there?! i didnt realize this was a competition but according to you it is. thats sad. if you are really 40 years old, you certainly dont act that way..more like 12..
...and these so called 'kids' in the band probably have more guts that you will ever have to go on stage and play a tune they have never heard before. stop putting fav vids on your site and put some of YOU playing bass, drums and synth. im sure a LOT of people incl myself and the band would love to see them..
ok i will. I am only 14, i have performed in many all-star groups, orchestras, bands, combos and much more. Lol, guts to tune? I have more guts than any of you guys. I have the guts to pick up Tuba and play Birdland in 2 weeks.
...well well.. now i was close. i did think you were light years younger than your youtube age says. is that so you can view mature vids and not get blocked off when they confirm your birthday then? well im going to end this now. i neither have the time nor the interest/patience in putting my point across with a smart alec 14 year old who's been there done that and apparently got the t-shirt...
....ive seen younger people than yourself act a hundred times more mature. youve certainly got a long way to go in regards to putting your comments across. you may be some kind of wonder kid that can play anything but until you can learn to respect everyone elses vids and offer constructive comments, youre certainly not welcome here and im pretty sure everyone elses site for that matter. stick to your dragonforce.
Who cares if ur 14 so am i and by ur comments i see u don't have much respect for jazz nd by the way i have 1 week 2 play this song on guitar in front of a whole community
why were they playing 'a tune they have never heard before'? If they were, that is an insult to music in every aspect! I don't think it's too bad, but if your attitude to music is like that, then you'll get nowhere, every single person needs to be able to sing that whole track in their sleep...

That's the straightest playing of a jazz fusion song I've ever heard.
Stick to classical. Trust me. You couldn't find the pocket if someone held it in front of your face.
