@BigStickCombat Well, double stick is an idea most people would have during training! It's obviously an advantage that people find out while perfectioning their skills! Egyptians, Mayas, Aztecs and Babylonians all built pyramids without knowing from each other! But they all had the same idea!

In this video I see similarities to Paulus Hector Mair that you normally don't see too often in Western Martial Arts, like "crossed" positions such as when the Maestro steps back at 1:27 and parries to the left. Wonderful.

the double baton technique is not very common in jogo do pau, it was developed mostly by master Nuno Russo.

I've also never heard of a jogo do pau double stick technique. It's fairly common in the Filipino arts.
