  • I loved this song when PJ covered it. I remember that my girlfriend left the CD single wedged underneath my windshield wiper for me to find when I got out of work. A great time for music.

  • With the diffrent words this song could be very happy, and this makes it even more sad :(

  • @ShadowLord3220 Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I think it's the fact it's the confidence and acceptance in the vocals that makes the lyrics so brutal. There is the sense that the narrator has come to terms with the tragedy that has befallen him; that the death of his sweet heart shall be ineluctably linked with his whole being until his death, causing him to sacrifice his life "to be good so [he] can see [his] baby when [he] leaves this world", for their love transcends time.

  • This is a great song, lyrics are incredible. I used to love Pearl Jam when they came out with their Ten and Vs. albums and then my interest waned. This song has rekindled my interest in them.

  • its not their song btw.

  • remind me of my first love.. :)

  • @physic3 Shut the fuck up with "fuck 2000's" Listen to more than your iTunes library. There still are bands who kick ass. Pearl Jam made some ridiculous good albums. So did U2. The Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Wolfmother, Kings of Leon. Discover music.

  • @tjittosz most of those you just said are 90's bands? Get your facts straight brotha

  • @physic3 Doesn't matter, they still bring out great albums in the 00's. Even the Foo Fighters did in the 10's.

  • Dude this song is a very amazing song...but...this video showing Pearl Jam live in concert...watching it just seemed like they rushed through it? They played good but they rushed the song.

  • it's a generally tendancy to rush songs live....

  • This was the first song that I heard from Pearl Jam as a kid and is still my favorite song to this day.

  • This song is about an accident that happened in my hometown of Barnesville, GA.

  • Eles são demais !!! Simplesmente demais !!!

  • "Hold me darling just a little while."

Eddie im in Love wit u!! Ta kishim pi i birre. =P

  • sad : (

  • im going to see them when they come back to my town

  • legend killer song!!

    awesome!

  • he has a perfect voice!!!

  • I prefer Staley myself...

  • Neil Young started grunge when grunge was not even in the picture, he was ahead of his time.

  • Neil Young was the first grunge singer Kurt Cobain I suppose you can say perfected grunge but Eddie Vedder has the best voice in grunge close second is Scott Weiland

  • hmm... you ever hear of a guy named chris cornell?

the term grunge is pretty mushy and really means nothing, but if you want to look back at the seattle sound of the early 90's, cornell was the best singer by a long shot. second was andrew wood. ...and if you have to ask who andrew wood was, you fail, and fail badly.

(and WTF is up with including neil young in the 'grunge' discussion? dude was like 50 when that shit started!)

  • I LOVE CORNELL haha

  • im with you. cornell had the best voice.

BUT DONT GET ME WRONG EVERYONE AND TRY SHOOT ME DOWN FOR SHARING AN OPINION FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!

I love Staley, Cobain and especially Veddar (who i got to see live 4 nights ago here in new zealand). and wow, im blown away that somebody knows who andrew wood is! u must be a real grunge fan HIGH FIVE!!!!

  • Thank God!!!! People actually are mentioning Andrew Wood!!!

its kinda sad though how so much of grunge is dedicated to him or just in general because of him yet no one knows who he is anymore.

    RIP Andrew Wood.

left us way to young and way to early.

  • Dickravis, what are you trying to achieve with this? If you think PJ sucks so much, then why do you keep responding here? Are you just bored? Or is youre life that bitter and taking down good bands ( And people ) just makes you feel better.

If you hate it that much, then just shut the fuck up and go see other vids.

Why the hell should we care about what you think.

  • this is the 'comment' section, not the 'comments you agree with' section.

this band is tired, over-rated, way passed it's expiration date and i have no problem reminding you tards what the fuck is up.

  • Man, nobody hates Pearl Jam more than a musician. Who didn't "Make It." And yeah, Vetter's voice is odd, falsely vibrato, etc. Still, it sounds damn good. And it's not close to as annoying as Beyonce or Brittany Spears, for instance. To each his own. I wish I could be Eddie Vetter, too. No need to hate. Dude's got it going on.

  • SSSShhhhh............Dude......stop thinking, and just try to feel the music.......please. Just shut up. Thanks.

  • Not many bands can put out new music like Pearl Jam has for nearly twenty years, and have it all still receiving the level of critical acclaim that it does. Any band that can stay together that long with that many of its original members deserves all the praise they get.

And for Vedder's voice, what the hell are you talking about? Its how he has always sung, and it has done him well. So what if it is unclean, so is Bob Dylan's and Neil Young's, and how Cobain and Layne's were as well.

  • when you compare eddie vedder to neil young and bob dylan you really remove all doubt: you're an idiot.

  • Dumb shit, they all have unclean voices that are standout. While Vedder is no Dylan by a long shot, they do have similar styles, and unique voices. With Dylan and Vedder, music changed after they entered the scene as countless others tried and continue to try and imitate them.

  • you might want to actually listen to a copy of 'harvest' before using the term 'unclean' to describe neil young's voice.

...and name some of the 'countless others' that tried to imitate bob dylan or pearl jam.

i bet you'll actually find the counting to be a pretty easy task.

    maybe you meant 'several'.

que the trumpets of failure, jackass.

  • Its a hell of a lot better than that generic voice that keeps getting thrown onto the radio now.

  • E tem como nao gostar?Simplismente Pearl Jam e maravilhosa essa banda!!!

  • apparently dickravis like the jonas brothers

  • dickravis is gay

  • all of you shut up!!

  • So I took my first job gill netting in Alaska when I was 17 that song played every nightI had no idea what I got myself into I just remeber that song was the only relaxing I go the whole trip.memories

  • did that song really happened to someone in the band?

  • no it did not

  • Comment removed

  • who?

  • Comment removed

  • tard.

that song is around 50 years old.

there is a world beyond pearl jam.

  • you think korn kicks ass too, huh?

thanks to kids like this guy, rock and roll is on it's last legs, never to be heard from again.
