There is the sense that the narrator has come to terms with the tragedy that has befallen him; that the death of his sweet heart shall be ineluctably linked with his whole being until his death, causing him to sacrifice his life "to be good so [he] can see [his] baby when [he] leaves this world", for their love transcends time.

Not many bands can put out new music like Pearl Jam has for nearly twenty years, and have it all still receiving the level of critical acclaim that it does. Any band that can stay together that long with that many of its original members deserves all the praise they get.

And for Vedder's voice, what the hell are you talking about? Its how he has always sung, and it has done him well. So what if it is unclean, so is Bob Dylan's and Neil Young's, and how Cobain and Layne's were as well.
