Dance music has always struggled commercially in the US because the radio system there insists on songs slotting into pre-defined genres e.g rock, R & B, 'black' and 'white' stations etc. You hardly ever find a station which plays both back-to-back like Radio One does in the UK. Dance suffered from a lack of airplay even back in the 80s with Detroit techno and Chicago house. Europe's always been more ready to accept dance music.

Ahh, I see. Thanks! Covers are such a weird thing; people with vastly disparate musical tastes can experience a certain song in their own relative terms, not knowing of where it may have originally come from. In any case, it has a great vocal melody which carries it through different interpretations.
