This is why I have a problem with Cornell West calling out Obama for not "doing enough" to help the Black Community.

I don't see Dr. West organizing any movements to help the Black Community. Obama is the POTUS and not a Community Leader anymore. The difference in today and the 60's, there were Organized Marches back then. Now..? Tavis Smiley reiterated Toni Morrison's comment, "Bill Clinton was our First Black POTUS", while Clinton put more Black Men in Prison than any of his predecessors!

@whiteliberal1 During the 60's the marches were organized primarily by religious and social leaders, not academics. West is a professor whose job in the grand scheme of things is to inform the Black masses. It's the same for every other race and all other societies for the most part.

@whiteliberal1 I am not saying that he cannot lead a movement as a matter of fact he is leading a movement, just in a different arena. Dr. King took it to the streets as did Malcolm and Garvey. But Dr. West is an academic, he goes on speaking tours and that's his audience. I don't know how effective it would be if Dr. West did more, there are only so many people that he can reach out to beyond academia and we both know there are few of us in college to begin with. Maybe thats part of the problem

I just love Farrahkan's body guards. Man, they are huge and disciplined and are really robots. Don't take this the wrong way, I love Farrahkan to death but i wish I could see someone put his body guards to the test and try lunging at him. Just maybe an angry protester or something. I'd love to see how fast his body guards react or what kind of force they would use against such person. But he said something that caught my attention though.
