  • native МК-17 =))) I personally stood on the wing for his first cord model on such a motor. was still such a motor so that МАРЗ 2.5 minutes per 20 plants pre-flight .=)))

and fuel for them: 25% mineral engine oil (best quality) 25% castor oil 25% diethyl ether, 25% kerosene. KEROSENE GRADE ONLY "КО-..."( not air !!!!)

  • Thanks :)

  • balls of steel, starting that thing with your finger

  • this engine is a pain in the ass to start

  • I can't start mine can some tell me how to?

  • Hello, i from russia, and this motor from my childhood)))) mk 17 is bad, mk 16 rulezz)))))

  • @olimpicwhite для многих этот мотор осколком детства стал:)

  • can you run this engine with a flywheel unstead of a propeller????

  • same fuel tank as whats in my 1:10 nitro buggy :P

  • In my country de eather is illegal :( but i have an mk-17

  • @vdani666

You may use ether from quick start mix for carb engines. Before disassemble the cylinder, you need let off gas from it in position "buttom up". You may buy it in most car parts stores.

  • Hi, I have the motor and everything... But I lack instructions... :D do I only need to aplly the fuel for it to work. Could you make a video intructed how to assemble it :) I think people would appreciate it. btw, great video :)

  • hi, can any body tell me where to get fuel???

  • Here I bought from local chemical material store

  • @nomi86cool efir - castor oil - kerosin(disel fluel0

  • what is the fuel ???

  • I was using kerosene(1/3), aether(1/3) and castor oil(1/3).

  • What is the big holeat the back with the red ring used for ? Thanks

  • Are you talking about the intake?

  • Well I don't know what is, after 0:38 I can see the hole for the transparent tube for the gas I think, and under that one there is a bigger hole with a red ring, I wonder what it is used for.

I had another question about this engine, if you tight too much the compression, could it break the piston ?

    Thanks !

  • That hole with a red ring is the intake used for vapourize the fule with air. As to the copression, if tight too much, it could tear or even break the connection rod of the piston.

  • Mini meat grinder..

  • looks like it only has a rear bearing

  • Did you build this little thing from a kit or?

  • Well I just find what is needed and join them together.

  • RC fans prefer to call it diesel engine comparing to glow engine. Actually it doesn't use real diesel as fuel.

  • 2 stroke engine?

  • correct

  • Petrol?(Gasoline?) MK-17 is the easiest one to start among my collections of compression ignition engines.

  • I have MK-17 also, its useless but i have tested it several times. Hard to start but runs good. Fuel mixture is: 25% castor oil, 25% ether and 50% petrol.

  • its not real diesel!!!!!!

  • How does this engine work? Do you adjust the compression on the top? :S

    Cool engine by the way!

  • It's compression ignition engine. The proper adjustment of the rod on the top is crucial for smooth starting and running.

  • Very easy to flood a diesel and bend a connecting rod, so be careful.

  • Put your finger in it now.

  • This is not a diesel engine. Though, it has no ignition system, but it just have carburetor and sucks methanol-air mixture in. actually it's a compression ignited two stroke Otto-engine.

  • Thanks. You are exactly right. I found on EBAY this type of model engine is simply categorized into diesel to distinguish from glow engine, so I just simpy followed it. I know a real diesel engine has a high pressure spray mechanism and it normally work in four stroke mode. Thank you again for your correction.

  • So, I think I must correct further what you say. It's not neccessary that the diesel engine works as a four-stroke only. There're two-stroke diesel engines, too. For example, the older diesel locomotives have got that kind of power source because they've got better weight-power ratio than their four-stroke equivalent. Why they aren't applied nowadays is that they need expensive superchargers and they've got very bad emissions. Regards

  • Thanks a lot for your professional information. Best regards.

  • my friend has a diesel two, but we can't start it, does it need pre heating?

  • Dozens of flips at the very beginning should be necessary. It's hard to start it in cold weather. Prime the engine(apply 1 to 2 drops of fuel directly into the cylinder) before start it, but not flud---it's important. Adjust the compression ratio till you hear the "Pop" while flipping, then loose the fuel needle till it run continuously, then adjust the compression ration again to run it smoothly and powerfully combining the adjustment of the fuel needle. Good luck!

  • did you use diesel or gasoline to start it? cause i have one exactly the same and i'd like to try an start it

  • I was using kerosene(1/3), aether(1/3) and castor oil(1/3). Good luck!
