Guys, shouldn't we be praying for each other to accept the truth for the Love of Jesus? Nobody really said anything vulgar, but there's a really ugly air about this exchange. "Do not judge, for however you mete out it shall be meted unto you." Mat 7:2.
I get mad too, I know, I disagree with this video and it did make me mad too, but please try to show more understanding, rather than be understood, EVEN as you try to share the truth...in LOVE
"And it came to pass as HE (JESUS) spake these things a certain woman of the company LIFTED up her voice & said unto him (JESUS) "Blessed" is the WOMB that BARE THEE & the PAPS which thou hast sucked. BUT HE (JESUS) SAID Yea Rather, Blessed are THEY that HEAR the WORD OF GOD & KEEP IT!!!
God appears in differenct ways.Yeshua is also God and an appearance of God to us.Apartitions do not happen among unbelievers because they disbelieve.Only believers get saved and thats why G-d communicates with them. The miracle of Fatima is certainly real as well as other apartitions because the evil cannot transform itself into the Holy Mother of our Saviour.
The thing is that we do not worship Virgin Mother Mary as a God but we ask her to pray for us simply because we are heavy sinners and need her prayers. As it says that prayers of a righteous man are more worthy than those of unrighteous, the question arises are we righteous? Answer is no because we are heavy sinners.Righteous people do not sin steadily, thats really, really rare.
Mary was the most righteous woman god had created that did give birth to Jesus as a virgin. However ... Only god is worthy of worship, and I think this is exactly what Jesus taught.
I don't think that it is clear that the apparitions of May are associated with "signs and wonders" rather than with hysteria. Some of the speakers are making presumptions that they have not substantiated.
@ChrisDaron yea we are we retarded right... go do 4 hail marys go confess your sins 10 times and go pray to your rosary 2 times and your saved.....oh yea we dont believe this because its not real plain and simple...by the way God does not have a mother she was the mother of christ in the FLESH not in the DIVINE....
@HeidyfromNorway She carried GOD in her womb. She's a SANCTUARY. She held JESUS. What's there not to be divine about the HOLY, CHOSEN woman who said "yes" to God?
God... Protestants are simply unholy, stubborn, and not Christian at all.
@ChrisDaron so what your saying is that she is higher then God because she gave brith to the divine... and unholy whose the one who believes in these man made things about crying statues Immaculate Conception
all this is BLASPHEMY what you catholics do is BLASPHEMY praying to mary thinking she could save you have shrines of her all of that is satanic and we protestants are unholy your very funny o and dont forget what your priest do to little kids
@HeidyfromNorway No, you are very wrong, Protestant. God is God. Period. I invite you to abandon your ignorant state by studying Catholicism, then you can feel free to continue being a Protestant if you decide to follow Luther... again.
"When a person of common sense wishes to obtain information about anything, whether political, religious, or scientific, (or any other subject) he goes to the source for authentic and unbiased information - never to those who seek to destroy, or who are the enemies of that which he wishes to study. Not one Protestant in thousands ever seeks information concerning the Catholic Church from Catholic sources.
Church history from the Apostles to the sixteenth century is not taught in any Protestant seminary, nor anywhere else amongst Protestants, as far as I know.
Nor is it possessed by Protestants.. I studied theology, passed my examinations for the Methodist Church, and knew absolutely nothing of the history of Christianity, or whether there was any, during this period.
When I awoke to the fact of my dense ignorance, I felt resentment; and I confess I do to this day. Where was the True Church for fifteen hundred years?"
Nor is Dr. Hemmeon alone in his opinion. Says Dr. Washington Gladden, a
Congregationalist of Columbus, Ohio:
"Among non-Catholics, even men and women of education are woefully ignorant of the Catholic Church."
THE BIBLE CAME FROM THE CATHOLIC CHURCH (believe or not)
Protestant Theologians like Anti Catholic Dr. Scott Hahn, Tim Staples etc.who started reading "The Faith of the Early Fathers" by William A. Jurgens converted to Rome Watch their Biblical and Historical reasons for becoming Catholic.
WATCH EWTN dot come or Cable
"Journey Home" Live & Call-In Show Every Monday to hear their conversions
REMEMBER THERE WERE NO BIBLES AT THE TIME OF THE APOSTLES UNTIL 399 YEARS after Jesus resurrection
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SOLELY SELECTED 27 letters n OVER 300 LETTERS & COMPILED THEM IN 1 BOOK call the BIBLE ADDED Chapters and Verses and put them in one section The New Testament included the Old Testament that already been compiled finished (not to be tampered w)
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS d SOLE AUTHORITY INTERPRETING THESE LETTERS (Scriptures) CORRECTLY & came out w reference book called
BTW I have the video posted here it's titled "The Truth Exposed" watch 4 Former Protestant Bible Scholars studies of Christianity that lead them back to Rome. STOP HATING THE CATHOLIC CHURCH INSTEAD PRAY FOR GUIDANCE PRACTICE: 1 love 2 understanding 3 humility 4 patience 5 forgiveness and lastly 6 perseverance bing true Christian by being well educated and NOT HATRED and IGNORANCE - God Have Mercy on our souls TRUST IN JESUS ALONE! but also ask his loving mother to intercede for us all.
BEFORE--- A man can be save from falling to the water before drowning (by grabbing him). Like Jesus saved Mary from her conception
AFTER:-- A man who is already in the water not yet drown (like us in sin) or drowned not yet dead but has been given CPR resuscitated (equivalent to our Confessions, Good Works,)
God saw Mary on top of the Empire State Building about to jump instead God grab Mary's entire body from falling and Mary said "my spirit rejoices in God my savior."
@junmeskie - Show us where Mary is sinless in scripture! If you're unable to show us in scripture where Mary is presented as sinless, you have believed something not of God, something added to God's word!
I will show you in the Bible Mary was a sinner: Romans 3:23 - All have sinned and fallen short. (All includes the Biblical Mary).
Now show us in Scripture where your claim of a sinless Mary is of God!
In order to understand the meaning of "co-mediatrix" or "co-redemptrix",
you MUST understand the meaning of the prefix "co".
It does NOT mean equal. It simply means "part- of".When Protestants complain about these terms, they generally mistakenly assume that they mean "equal to".
@junmeskie - Agian, you make a cliam that is opposed to God's Holy Word -
1 Tim 2:5 - For there is ONE God and ONE Mediator between God and men, the Man CHRIST JESUS. (Mary is not listed anywhere as a mediator, this is a different gosple and mediator).
Who will you believe the Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit, or the RCC?
"...and upon her head a crown of twelve stars” ~ Rev 12:1-6 "who wears a crown?
maid? or Queen?
JESUS & MARY ARE BOTH JEWISH RIGHT?
Jewish Tradition the Mother of the King is the Queen never the wife for kings can have hundreds of wives but only one mother. (read Solomon & Bathsheva).
Even Judge Judy has Bailiff - you cannot go to her directly lol
Tradition: you don't go directly to the king, the Queen always act as the intercessor in people's behalf
7). Mary Co-Redemptrex - "...And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and [to] his throne." Revelation 12:16
Mother & Son works together for our salvation This is the reason Jesus called his mother "woman" referring to Genesis 3:15 and Revelation 12
@junmeskie - Amazing how blind a person can become when in a CULT! The Women depicted in Revelation 12 is Israel not the RCC's Mary. The only reason you believe this is "Mary" - because your cult leaders make this claim.
The doctrine of the catholic church teaches that for one to be a saint one has to be dead and proven to be one. The real Christian church teaches that there are saintly men and women alive in this world. Because the real Christian church produces saintly or holy men and women. They are made holy through their dedication to Christ's teachings and living their lives fully according to God's will and tasks.
The dead know nothing, they are asleep till the return of THE ONLY ONE who was ressurected. He Yahshua is with the Father, no one else is till all are ressurected. Read the Bible, no don't just read it, study it and pray for understanding. For many come in the name of the L-RD instead of the Name of YAHWEH who teach lies mixed with truth. They lean on their own understanding and will pay the price for those lies they teach. Don't be caught up in their Sin.
@withwingsaseagleeyes We are even found to be misrepresenting God, that he raised Christ whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. READ 1 Corinthians 15 to 29
Saints Are Aware of Earthly Affairs… READ… Matthew 22:30/Luke 15:10 1 Corinthians 4:9 / Hebrews 12:1
"...For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep." 1 Thes 4:14
Does the Lord not speak to us through messengers? Yes, He does. Scripture is full of examples. Why then should He not send His own blessed mother as His messenger? Do we not pray for others, and ask others to pray for us? Why then should we not ask the blessed mother of the Lord to pray for us too? I have asked Hooters girls to pray for me. Why not?
@PopeRonPaul2, why send His mother? Even the coming of Jesus Christ was prophesied so many time by the scriptures. How come there in no prophesy for Mary? Unless it is not really Mary coming but Satan in Mary's form.
@PopeRonPaul2, Good day, but why ask the dead to pray for you? Mary is dead and so are the apostles, disciples, and saints. They cannot do anything because they are dead. And mind you, they are not in heaven.
@271828183141592654 Gee I wish you read my postings about this common misconceptions of the Prots. REPOSTING EM AGAIN:
We are even found to be misrepresenting God, that he raised Christ whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. READ 1 Cor 15 to 29
Saints Are Aware of Earthly Affair READ Mat. 22:30/Luke 15:10 1 Cor. 4:9 / Heb. 12:1
"...For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep." 1 Thes 4:14
Ex.25 & 26 were of the old testament as a representative of God's mercy via Jesus. Similarly, Numbers signify the death of Christ (as 'serpent' is synonymous with curse and death). Similarly, the cherubims' carving represented the excellency and mercy of God and man. In all these, God commanded it for a reason. Catholics ain't worship statues? That's what you are telling me. In practice there're thousands of Marian shrines with devotees kneeling and worshiping in front of them. Roman Catholics..
Christ said this..."I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father except by me."
The apparition says this...."Only I can help you. My immaculate heart will be your refuge and the Way that will lead you to God." It's quite clear that someone is lying here. Christ doesn't lie to us. The apparition is the liar. The apparition is a satanic deception. "And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."
@Isaiah122 Ok, here is the deal - the Big Picture. Jesus left us a Church - Jesus appointed certain men to lead that Church (Episcopate = Bishop). Also, Jesus gave these men the power to 'bind and loose' - to forgive people's sins - and to administer the Sacraments. And, Jesus left us the "paradosis" (Sacred Tradition) + Sacred Scripture. Now, it took the Church and the Bishops 240 -300 years to hammer out the Canon of the New Testament and the Old Testament. (Part 1)
(Part 2). From the conception of the Church clear up until today, the Church has been fighting off misconceptions and heresies..... the first 300 years are no exception. Read the Early Church Fathers and see how they interpreted Scritpure.... looks very familiar to what the Roman Catholic Church teaches today. So, for 1400 years, the Mainstream of Christendom followed Rome (the Papacy). The Eastern Orthodox split in 1054 over the filioque clause as well as iconoclasm......... (Part 2)
(Part 3) But on the whole, the Eastern Orthodox Church was in Union with Rome when it comes to Scripture (with a few exceptions). Ok, now according to you, Sola Scriptura is the rule and the Apostles followed this theology. Then after St. John died in 100 A.D., the Church slowly went into some kind of "Babylonian Captivity of the Church." So, for 1500 years, the Church was an Apostacy.... unitl low-and-behold, St. Martin comes along and frees the Church from 1400 years of bondage. GET REAl!!
Ps Do you see how ludicrous that thinking is, my friend? Christ said that he would send the Holy Spirit to be with the Church - Always and Forever. So what Church was the Holy Spirit inspiring for 1400 years? Because much of what you believe in Scripture is NOT seen in the 1400 years prior to Luther. The Mass - Sacraments - infant baptism - the Trinity - "no polygamy" - these are the norm. (BTW, Luther wanted Polygamy to be the norm - he INTERPRETED the NT to support his belief in Polygamy.)
Long and Complex subject. Also, some of your Mary quotes are NOT Vatican approved apparitions - this is misleading. In Vatican Approved Apparitions, Mary "points the way to her Son, Jesus Christ - she tells us to 'obey' him." (hmmmm... sounds alot like the Wedding Feast at Cana - "Do whatever he tells you.") As for 1 Tim 2:5, yes, Jesus is the ONE mediator - true enough; but lets not forget about 2 Cor 5:20. All of us 'below' Christ are "Ambassadors" - "Christ has no body now, but yours."
Part 2 - As for the "CO" in Mediatrix or Redemptrix, this does NOT mean "Equal" to, but it means "Shares a part in." Mary could have told Gabriel "NO" at the Annunciation, therefore Jesus would NOT have taken on the flesh through Mary; but since she said "yes", she gives Jesus her DNA (through Free-will) and Jesus can now redeem the world through His Body and Blood. Also, check out James 15:16 - Is that scripture quote NOT a mediation to God? It sure is.... they are "praying for each other."
Part 3 - 1 Tim 2:5-6 tells us that Jesus is the One Mediator between God & Man. Jesus is the High Priest, but we 'believers' gain merit by secondary priesthood in its varied forms - that secondary priesthood returns to the one Priestly Source. Therefor, we share in Christ's Mediation. 2 Peter 1:4 - "you may become partakers of the Divine nature." Also, in 1 John 3:1 - "we shall be called 'Children of God.'" Therefor, we a partakers of His Divine Nature. "Christ has no body now, but yours."
Part 4 - (the last part). Some of you out there must keep in mind that ALL Christians belong to a FAMILY. The FAMILY of God is the key to understanding a lot of Catholic Theology. God is our Father; Jesus is our Brother and the KING; Mary is the Queen Mother of the King; all the Saints (dead & alive) are our 'brothers and sisters' through Heavenly Royalty . There are 3 levels of the active family: Church Triumphant (heaven); Church Militant (earth); Church Penitent (Purgatory). We are one
Yes the Marian Visions are deceptions to lead gullible RCs away from the Real Saviour "The Lord Jesus Christ"
I hear that Mary appeared on a piece of toast, a stump of a tree, a garage door, a hospital window maybe next she will appear on the Popes head ~ ON HIS BALD PATCH
How do RCs know its Mary, because she said so?
If the demon impersonating Mary told them black was white the RC would believe that to
These visions seem to be getting in the way of the preaching of the True Gospel, ITS DEMONIC
This literal interpretation of the Bible is so naive. God calls Mary: FULL of grace. The spirit in Mary speaks: All GENERATIONS shall call me blessed. Jesus tells John: BEHOLD YOUR MOTHER. You fundamentalists with your packaged saving formulas, do you ask yourselves where did you place Mary in your faith? NOWHERE. Mary has been understood and venerated by the Church that GAVE YOU THE BIBLE AS YOU KNOW IT. If you do not understand Mary, you will not understand Jesus period.
OK but how can you discern a divine light from a demonic light. I hope you are not going to tell me that whatever apparition not suitable to your theology OR your interpretation of the Bible is demonic.
1.The RCC didn't give Christians the Bible, we received it from the Holy Spirit. It was the RCC that tried to STOP people from having the Bible.
2. The RCC is the greatest murderer of Christians throughout the centuries. The Romans crucified the Lord Jesus Christ but failed to kill him. The Roman Catholic Church has only continued their fathers work, killing millions of Christians but they have also failed.
Come out of the evil RCC cult and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ.
You should come out of your bubble of ignorance and study history, The Bible is the fruit of the Church tradition and not the other way around and the texts were many before the church discerned what is canonical and what is not. The Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE CHURCH built by Jesus Christ. It is the Catholic Church that survived all kind of heretic movements and it will also survive the silly fudamentalists groups that turned faith into a joke.
It's funny you say we Bible believers of Jesus Christ are heretics. It's the RCC that elevates RCC Tradition to equality with the Bible; Jesus condemned this in (Mark 7.7-8). The Apostle Paul clearly rejects the traditions of man (Colossians 2.8). Paul also, expresses who the heretics really are (Galatians 1:8) But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
@Isaiah122 Sacred Tradition or Apostolic Traditions (which the Catholic Church closely follow) should not be confused with mere traditions of men, which are more commonly called customs or disciplines.
Jesus sometimes condemned customs or disciplines, but only if they were contrary to Gods commands (Mark 7:8).
He never condemned sacred Tradition, and he didnt even condemn all human tradition.
Early Christians followed apostolic tradition - Acts 2:42, 2 Timothy 2:2
Jesus CONDEMNED traditions (ordinances & commandments of men) that contradicted His Word (Mat 15:9; Mar.7:7; Col.2: 20-23). He told off the Pharisees, scribes & Sadducees involved in these practises. These were high religious leaders that held 'sacred traditions' that were highly valued by the people. In fact it was due to the refusal of these evil religious leaders to drop these traditions & hold on to Him that made these evil leaders plan for His death. So don't tell me otherwise.
You are wrong, it is the Protestants who excluded books that were already there and specifically because it didnt suit their theology, \the point is, \men were evaluating scriptures and deciding what should be sacred not the other way around. (continued)
The problem with you fundamentalists is that everything is CLEAR but u cut and paste from scriptures what suits you without looking at the whole. NO interpreting scriptures is not obvious and it requires serious study. Throwing a verse here and there is not sincere and often mislead, the fact that thousands of sects disagree and yet claim to be following the same Bible is a proof of what I am saying.
Why did the RCC add 15 books to their Bible in 1546 (Some 1200 years AFTER the Bible was canonized)?
The Bible teaches a man is Justified once and for all by FAITH not works(Romans 8.30, Eph 2.8-9).
(Ephesians 2:8-9) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
The RCC teaches man is justified repeatedly by the sacraments and works.
See you are proving my point (The Bible teaches a man is Justified once and for all by FAITH not works(Romans 8.30, Eph 2.8-9). ) How would you reconcile that with James: Faith without work is dead!
Don't forget Matthew 35:31-46 :-) That parable talks about "Confessed Christians" who are thrust into hell because they sat on their thumbs & did NOT do "Good Works" in their life. Catholic Theology is"right on the numbers" and it is so beautiful. The Reformation was a very sad and evil event. brought about by ignorance, pride, and divorce. Yes, some of the Bishops were corrupt because of money, but Luther went waaaaaay too far in reforming the Church - he should have stayed away from Theology.
You seem to be naive when quoting Scripture (There is no Matthew 35!). I believe you intended Matt 25.31-46.
First, Works of righteousness are noble but do they add merit to your redemption? The totality of Scripture says, no!
(Eph 2.8-10) Salvation is by Grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. God has prepared the good works for us to accomplish! (You claiming these works as merit to your account is like stealing a book and claiming you wrote it).
Thanks for the "typo" correction.... yes, Matthew 25. Now, as for Sola Fida (Faith Alone), this is not Scripturally Correct. Yes, we are justified by our faith (Romans 3:28), but that is NOT enough to sustain that justification. Again, Matthew 25 is the BEST example of "Confessed Christians" (justified Christians) going to HELL because they lacked the will to do "Good Works." Also, Rev 20:13, 22:12; 2 Cor 5:10; Roman 2:6,7,13; Matt 7:21; - and etc. "Faith Alone" is NOT in Scripture.
Your examples are very poor choices and extremely naive -
Rev 20.13 is those not of the Church who are being Judged (The Church is with Jesus in Rev 19.7-9).
Rev 22.12 - What is the work of God that Jesus is speaking of? Read John 6.29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the WORK of GOD, that you [BELIEVE] in Him (Jesus) whom He(God) sent."
2 Cor 5-10 - This is made clear in 1 Cor 3.11-15 This is the judgment of righteous deeds, not for salvation...Read it and see.
Look, this is getting monotonous..... just go to James 2:24.... enough said. In that quote, that is the only time "Faith Alone" is used in Scripture - and it is quoted to prove that "Faith Alone" isn't enough, but it takes 'good works' as well.... they go hand in hand .... you can't have one without the other. Again, YES, we are 'justified by our faith'.... but NOT alone. It takes 'hope, love' and good works.' John 6:29 does nothing for "Faith Alone". And you Rev. quotes are misinterpreted
Eph 2:8-10 does NOT say "Faith Alone." Look at Ephesians 2:10 - it says, "For we are his handiwork, created in Jesus Christ for the GOOD WORKS that God has prepared in advance , that we should live in them." Take that quote with Romans 2:13 "For it is not merly those who hear the law who are rightous in God's sight. No, it is those who follow the law, who will be justified." Again, it is "Faith" that justifies us, but Charity Must Follow - if charity doesn't follow, then the Faith is Dead.
I was paraphrasing the meaning of the totality of the doctrine as presented in the NT.
Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
You quoted what I said previously -God saved us through FAITH to do good works. The works don't save you. SEE.
You're missing the point. You can be "Born Again" - then Baptized - then cry & weep for the Lord Jesus & say, "I love you, Jesus, so very much - you're my everything" - and you mean it. Then for the next year or so, you do all sorts of charity work. But then during the 2nd year of faith, U quit doing chairitable things - U decide to make lots of money for yourself - U horde the money & you start to treat people cruely. Then all of a sudden, you die. Are you saved by "Faith Alone", my friend?
[Part 2] A true story. A friend of mine was "Born Again" about 15 years ago - truly loved Jesus. A few years after he was born again, I had a conversation with him about Religion & Faith - during this talk, he was saying the same stuff you tell me now. Well, about 5 years ago, my friend started a 2 year adulterous affair with a woman - he eventually divorced his wife and married another woman. He quit going to his Church - and he became a biker. Ok, is he still justified by "Faith Alone."???
Many profess to be Christian but their fruit (actions) demonstrate that they arent (Note: The fruit only reflects their true nature but doesn't save them). The bible tells us that many false teachers and converts would come (2 Peter 2.1-2).
John answers your question best, 1John 2.19 - They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
Dude, all you've proved to me is that anyone can twist the Scripture to conform to what they want it to believe. 2000 years of Catholic History - thousands and thousands of PHD's / High IQ types combing over Scripture. Don't you think that if your "formuala" for interpreting Scripture was correct, that these extremely intellegent people would see it the way you see it? No, my friend, there are at least 1000 different interpretations of Scripture twisted in different ways.
Weak answer. Your type of theology is flawed. Example: If we were to follow you formula, then there is no need for Jesus to say, "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." What's the point? Look, "temptation" and "evil" can lead us to sin.... and some sin is "Deadly." You can lose your "Grace of Justification" - but a repentant sinner can have it restored. My friend was led into the "Temptation" of LUST and this led to Adultery. He got discourage with the faith and he fell away.
James is speaking of having an active faith as opposed to a dead, false faith. He isn't clearly presenting a works salvation. Read verse 2.10 and he clearly demonstrates this.
The fruit of a tree doesn't make a tree good or bad, it only shows if the tree is good or bad.
Works will only demonstrate the true nature that resides within you - a redeemed and saved person or a lost and dead person.
Whoever said they believed in "Works Salvation?" NOT the Catholic Church- she never has - never will. That was a title given by Protestants to Demonize Catholics. Ok, one more time: "Catholics believe in Justification by Faith" - but NOT by FAITH ALONE. The second chapter of James puts that ALL to rest. Remember, there is a reason why Martin Luther wanted to throw out the Book of James - that second chapter really messed with his world - it threw a wrench in his Theology of 'Sola Fida'.
James if read in context is speaking of having an active faith and is not speaking about salvation. With that said I acknowledge that this is a difficult verse to reconcile with the [numerous] verses that clearly teach salvation is by Faith and not works. I would choose to seek clarity from other verses, allowing the Bible to interpret the bible.
The RCC - Catechism 1446 teaches a man is justified repeatedly by sacraments and works because he loses the grace of justification.
You're going down a whole other road here. We believe that we can lose our "Soul" to Mortal Sin. We believe that we can lose our 'Grace of Justification' through "Mortal Sin." 1 John 5:16-17 talks about "Mortal Sin" (Deadly Sin) and a lesser Sin. The Deadly Sin referred to by John can "kill your soul." To have these sins removed from our Soul (as long as the person is truly 'sorry' for their sins), then see John 20:21-23; Matt 16:19; & 2 Cor 5:18 "...given us the ministry of reconciliation."
How did you extrapolate this belief from 1 John 5.16-17?
First, notice the verses you cite speak of [A] SIN (Singular) THAT LEADS TO DEATH. The verses also say if someone commits a sin that doesnt lead to death Ask God to forgive him (Not a Pope or a priest).
Second, the same writer states in, 1 John 1.9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from [ALL] unrighteousness.
You need to know Catholic Theology in-order to debate with me. I don't want to sit here all day explaining every theology of the Catholic Church to you. No offense, but you don't even have a remote grasp of my faith. As for reconcilliation, I've already quoted the necessary scripture passages - the greatest example is John 20:21-23. The Apostles (bishops of the first century) had the power to forgive sins or retain sins. This was passed on from year to year - century to century. "paradosis"
As for 1 John 5:16-17, this describes "Mortal" and "Venial" sins. Motal Sin kills the soul, while Venial sin wounds the soul. Also, since the pastors of our faith were given the power to forgive "mortal" sins, we go to them for confession. Our Pastors forgive sins by saying the following...... [see next comment]
"God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son, has reconciled us to the world to Himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." So you see, it is the Trinity who absolves our sins, but the Priest has been given the power to administer this Sacrament (John 20:21-23).
@Isaiah122 it doesn't matter what u think....here is what Catholics believe..As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:58), but Im also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:910, 1 Cor. 3:1215). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:1113).
If the text states that God will forgive [ALL] our sins, what does it mean there is [A] sin that leads to death. Im glad you asked ;-) John tells us in, John 16.8-9 - And when He (The Holy Spirit) has come, He (The Holy Spirit) will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [of sin, because they do not believe in Me]. This singular act of sin which leads to eternal death is [TO NOT BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST].
Also, notice in, 1 John 2.1-2 (Paraphrased) Jesus is our Advocate and our propitiation (Not Mary as the RCC teaches). Being truly sorry will not save you. Jesus is our PROPITIATION. A person is justified by Jesus alone (Acts 4.12 - And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.
As I said, we are justified by Jesus not with the sincerity of our regret. Many regret their actions but that doesn't bring forgiveness.
Colossians 2:13-14 - And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you [ALL] trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Then what is the purpose of John 20:21-23? Big picture, dude, big picture. Look, in Col 2:13-14, it is talking about ALL past "transgressions" (sins) being forgiven; it doesn't say, "the rest of your 'sins' are already forgiven... just forget about them, Jesus has forgiven you already. So if you kill or rape or commit adultery, you're good." Wrong. We can still be "delivered into Temptation" through weakness. Again, that's why the petition to the Father in the prayer, "Our Father".
Please no need to interpret. The last thing I want is to be preached by a born again. I know your interpretations and your views and I find them naive and flawed no time here to debate those ideas. I have sent you a link explaining the difference between the Bibles but i do not see it here. I will resend but it proves is that your question is wrongly formulated. The RCC did not add books, it is protestants who excluded ones, This is another lie spread by fundamentalists.
Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
@Isaiah122 c u only believed in the Bible Alone not the true History to find the truth, it was ex Fr. Martin Luther O.S.A. (Augustinian Monk) Excommunicated By Pope Leo took 7 books out, in fact he wanted to take more books out like the books of James and The Revelation
what is the point of my personal relationship with Jesus and what set of ppl canonized the bible?
THE BIBLE IS A CATHOLIC BOOK DISTORTED BY PROTESTant OVER 33,000 DENOMINATIONS
The bible (i.e. containing the Word of God) should be the standard in testing all spirits. The spirit of the RCC (Roman Catholic Church) Mary had been found 'wanting' to a greater degree, says things contrary to the Holy Bible, & its religious ministry, the RCC & its doctrinal practises are heavily sinful & contrary to the Bible. One needs the gift of discernment (and also via studying the bible) to decipher the authenticity of the RCC's 'Mary'. I ain't 7th Day Adventist in any way.
@7olusegun CON'T Moreover, there is an ancient Eastern discipline of choosing bishops from the ranks of the celibate monks, so their bishops are all unmarried.
The tradition in the Western or Latin-Rite Church has been for priests as well as bishops to take vows of celibacy, a rule that has been firmly in place since the early Middle Ages. Even today, though, exceptions are made. For example, there are married Latin-Rite priests who are converts from Lutheranism and Episcopalianism.
If the bible (as you claim) is a catholic book, then why did the RCC practice things contrary to it? Why do they have graven images; forbidden to marry (their priests); putting Mary as co-equal to Christ; doctrine of purgatory; infantile baptism (& also by sprinkling); altering the 1st & last commandments of God; commercial salvation (for God's indulgences); Peter & Paul's feast doctrine; killed hundreds of millions of biblical Christians (even today via their doctrines) etc, etc?.
@7olusegun First you have to understand that his church is full of sinners if not then Jesus don't need to shed his blood for our sins since the Catholics are all HOLY please peruse my answers here I am sure you will find my answers to be non combative nor bashing your faith.
If you are really serious in finding the truth and the answers to all your misconceptions about the RCC please go to Catholic dot come they all have d answers you to understand what & why Catholics believe.
It is one thing for one (or an organization for that matter) to realize to be sinner(s), REPENT & follow Christ. It is another to be DELIBERATELY so & also teaching others to be so vigorously. The RCC is unrepentant of the latter category with its unbiblical doctrinal rules being embedded in its 'Canons & Decrees of The Council Of Trent' book today, used as munitions into carry out heinous crimes in the past & present without any signs of change for the better into following Christ.
@7olusegun isn't that a Protestant faith "using the bible as justification"?
Are you now confused?
Catholics don't go by the Bible Alone (man made tradition) we also follow the Apostolic Traditions handed to them by Jesus himself.
The Bible Alone (Sola Scriptura) and Faith Alone (Sola Fide) are coin and added by an former Catholic monk ex Fr. Martin Luther O.S.A. the word "Sola" is not in any Greek Bible.
Protestant MUST STUDY the Bible and History = 100% Truth
That's a lie, the bible is not a catholic book. The RCC phantomed its own (incorporating Egyptian and Babylonian beliefs into the bible, therefore committing spiritual harlotry in the process). Faith alone in Jesus is what justifies an individual before God (Rom 3:28; Rom 5:1, Gal 3:11) and not by works. The bible said, withput faith, it is impossible to please god. So don't tell me 'faith alone' and 'bible alone' are incorporated by some monking job.
I am telling you the truth over and over again that the RCC is spiritually sinful. They have adulterated the Word of God's scriptures with worldly traditions (like the Pharisees & Scribes etc in Jesus' time). For His Word to be Holy, it has to be undiluted and pure as God gave it to man via Jesus. It is then that the Word as it is is capable of saving sinners. You are the gullible one with lots of misconceptions. I am talking about ROMAN CATHOLIC in particular (not mere 'catholic').
@7olusegun Celibacy and the Priesthood - The first and most basic confusion is thinking of priestly celibacy as a dogma or doctrine—a central and irreformable part of the faith, believed by Catholics to come from Jesus and the apostles.
Thus some Fundamentalists make a great deal of a biblical reference to Peters mother-in-law (Mark 1:30), apparently supposing that, if Catholics only knew that Peter had been married, they would be unable to regard him as the first pope.
1 Ti 3:2; 1Ti 3:12 God via Paul said Holy men of God (Bishops etc) should be the husband of one wife (and not mandatory celibacy). God instituted marriage (not man). Therefore marriage is a holy thing before God. God knows that anyone forced to be undergo celibacy has a very high chance of engaging in sexual perversions (as his/her flesh urges becomes too great to bear as in the RCC), which is even more serious when engaging in the work of God. God NEVER forbade marriage in any way.
I am not saying the Roman catholic Church (RCC) is a house of God. It is rather a house of satan with pigs in its living room! Find out what is actually going on in its secret enclaves. You might be very shocked.
By his grace Jesus makes the Church holy, just as he is holy.
This doesnt mean that each member is always holy.
Jesus said there would be both good and bad members in the Church (John 6:70), and not all the members would go to heaven (Matt. 7:2123).
But the Church itself is holy because it is the source of holiness and is the guardian of the special means of grace Jesus established, the sacraments (cf. Eph. 5:26)
@7olusegun CON'T These Fundamentalists are often surprised to learn that even today celibacy is not the rule for all Catholic priests. In fact, for Eastern Rite Catholics, married priests are the norm, just as they are for Orthodox and Oriental Christians.
Even in the Eastern churches, though, there have always been some restrictions on marriage and ordination. Although married men may become priests, unmarried priests may not marry, and married priests, if widowed, may not remarry.
@7olusegun CON'T As these variations and exceptions indicate, priestly celibacy is not an unchangeable dogma but a disciplinary rule.
The fact that Peter was married is no more contrary to the Catholic faith than the fact that the pastor of the nearest Maronite Catholic church is married.
Although most people are at some point in their lives called to the married state, the vocation of celibacy is explicitly advocated—as well as practiced—by both Jesus and Paul.
@7olusegun CELIBACY con't So far from "commanding" marriage in 1 Corinthians 7, in that very chapter Paul actually endorses celibacy for those capable of it: "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is well for them to remain single as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame with passion" (7:8-9).
@junmeskie - lol! The Bible was written by God the Holy Spirit through the apostles. The Roman Catholic Church never wrote the Bible but received it as did ALL Christians (See the First Vatican Council 554 which states this). Also, see John 15:26-27 But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
@junmeskie - Didn't Jesus tell John to WRITE what you see and hear? Didn't Peter say Paul's "Writings" were Scripture? Didn't Peter (Whom you believe to be the first Pope) write two letters? You seem to be very biblically illiterate or purposefully being deceitful (You look foolish or dishonest).
@junmeskie - The RCC added 4000 verses to the Canonized Bible in 1546AD Why? The Bible states not to add to or take from scripture!
Dt 4:2 - You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Rev 22:18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book
@Isaiah122 Timothy was referring to the OT otherwise he is contradicting himself since he is still writing em lol
Fr. Martin Luther O.S.A. (monk) Excommunicated By Pope Leo took 7 books out, in fact he wanted to take more books out like the books of James and The Revelation
"We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of God, that we received it from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of it at all." ~ Martin Luther THE FATHER OF PROTESTanism
@junmeskie - Why did the RCC kill Christians for simply owning a Bible?
Why did the Roman Catholics hunt down and kill True Christians for translating the Scriptures into their native tongues? Was this following Jesus' commandments? So by you own standard, the RCC is outside of Jesus' commandments!
Do you read a Latin bible? If not you were once considered a heretic by the RCC and would have been killed! You should thank the non-Catholics for saving your life.
Jesus said there would be both good and bad members in the Church (John 6:70), and not all the members would go to heaven (Matt. 7:21–23).
But the Church itself is holy because it is the source of holiness and is the guardian of the special means of grace Jesus established, the sacraments (cf. Eph. 5:26).
@junmeskie - We agree again, the Roman Catholic Church is Judas and True Christians follow Jesus Christ! Great, there is hope for you yet.
How do we know who has a false gospel? Can we look at the apostles teachings (Scripture) or the RCC tradition which contradicts the apostles writings?
RCC - Idols, Relics, Eucharist is an idol of false teaching and salvation (Catechism 1367) , Mary worship, Indulgences, Papal infallibility, Apostolic Succession, Justification by baptism. Hum!
@Isaiah122 you love to dance the "doctrinal dance don't you?" Why don't you just be honest to Jesus not to yourself and do your own research cus what you keep babbling is very old misconceptions that I have already answered to other ignorant so called Christians like you.
Why don't you just Google all your misconceptions about the truth of Catholicism?
@junmeskie - So you agree the Roman Catholic Church leadership (Popes) had Christians and non-Christians killed by the millions. Of course you wouldn't follow in this type of evil?lol. Great! It still makes clear that the RCC cult was and is responsible for killing millions of people, many of them Christians.
@junmeskie - I repeat - Why did the RCC kill Christians for simply owning a Bible?
Why did the Roman Catholics hunt down and kill True Christians for translating the Scriptures into their native tongues? Was this following Jesus' commandments? So by you own standard, the RCC is outside of Jesus' commandments!
Do you read a Latin bible? If not you were once considered a heretic by the RCC and would have been killed! You should thank the non-Catholics for saving your life.
@Isaiah122 Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13).
Jesus said it is not enough to have faith in him; we also must obey his commandments. "Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do not do the things I command?" (Luke 6:46, Matt. 7:21–23, 19:16–21).
We do not "earn" our salvation through good works (Eph. 2:8–9, Rom. 9:16), but our faith in Christ puts us in a special grace-filled relationship with God
so that our obedience and love, combined with our faith, will be rewarded with eternal life (Rom. 2:7, Gal. 6:8–9).
Paul said, "God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work" (Phil. 2:13). John explained that "the way we may be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments.
Whoever says, ‘I know him,’ but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him" (1 John 2:3–4, 3:19–24, 5:3–4).
Since no gift can be forced on the recipient—gifts always can be rejected—even after we become justified, we can throw away the gift of salvation.
We throw it away through grave (mortal) sin (John 15:5–6, Rom. 11:22–23, 1 Cor. 15:1–2; CCC 1854–1863). Paul tells us, "The wages of sin is death" (Rom. 6:23).
Read his letters and see how often Paul warned Christians against sin! He would not have felt compelled to do so if their sins could not exclude them from heaven (see, for example, 1 Cor. 6:9–10, Gal. 5:19–21).
Paul reminded the Christians in Rome that God "will repay everyone according to his works: eternal life for those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works,
but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness" (Rom. 2:6–8).
Sins are nothing but evil works (CCC 1849–1850). We can avoid sins by habitually performing good works. Every saint has known that the best way to keep free from sins is to embrace regular prayer, the sacraments (the Eucharist first of all), and charitable acts.
READ "The Lives of Saints" - they are the role models of all Christians (Catholics being the ORIGINAL CHRISTIANS)
"Paradosis", dude, "Paradosis" - this means "Apostolic Traditions (Sacred Traditions) passed on from one generation to the next. The Greatest example of this "Paradosis" is THE CANON of Scripture for the New Testament. When St. John died (circa 90 AD), the Canon did NOT exist..... the 1st Century Apostles did NOT leave us an "Official" Canon of the N.T. The Catholic Bishops (with Sacred Tradition given by the Holy Spirit to the Church) formulated the Canon in the late 4th Century. [part 1]
As for the "Deuterocanonicals", your belief is a "myth". At the Council of Rome (382) the Church decided upon the canon of 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. (BTW, Pope Damasus presided over that Council in Rome). The decision to accept 46 books in the O.T. was ratified by the Councils of Hippo (393), Carthage (397, 419), II NIcea (787), Flourence (1442), and Trent (1546). So, you are wrong in your Premise. You really need to read up on your History.
@Isaiah122 "Ignorant of history is ignorant of truth" ~ Jun Mescallado
"Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ " ~ St. Jerome
THE BIBLE + CHURCH HISTORY = 100% TRUTH …. U WILL SEE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH…DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SEARCH FOR TRUTH – READ THE FAITH OF THE EARLY CHURCH FATHERS (POLYCARP, AGUSTINE, ETC.)
Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater as we rightly have problems with some of the teachings of modern Rome (i.e. papal infallibility dogma, etc.). When God enables some to have the power to heal, it is always done because of God and to Christ's Glory. God has gifted members of His Body to intercede and do Miracles. Apparition of The GodBirthGiver theotokos brough Muslims to follow Christ in Egypt. God is a Miracle Working God even if our minds cannot comprehend the incomprehensible.
While in the wilderness, Moses put a brazen serpent (a symbol of evil) on a pole which would heal anyone bitten by a snake who looked at it (Numbers 21:8).Since snakes were used by the devil, does that make God YHWH's Word to be contradictory: NO! God is True. And Jesus in John 3, called the brazen serpent as the Holy Object pointing to The Cross. Scripture shows us God can use physical Icons to point to the Cross, just as He used handkerchiefs touched by Paul to heal and Elijah's dead bones ...
Thanks for increasing my faith by sharing of the apparitions of The Mother of our God before whom those of us filled with The Holy Spirit are unworthy as John the forerunner's Mom to stand (Luke 1). Tim 2:5, must be quoted along with verse 1 through 5, which obviously calls us to intercede for one another even as we know only Christ is our Salvation Mediator by His entrance into Hades and trampling down death by death. & Rev. 11-12, reveal The Great Queen as The Mother of Jesus.
@Scythianne Jesus has been sending his loving mother Mary to warn us of pending chastisement Mary's only role is to bring us closer to her son watch (my video) "Mary's Apparitions in Zeitun, Egypt from 1968 -1970"
All miracles via Mary's intercession to her son came from Jesus alone
Marys prayers are especially effective on our behalf because of her relationship with her Son (John 2:111).
Marys womb is Gods TABERNACLE MADE IMMACULATE & SINLESS
I can assure you that the RC 'Mary' is a demon (hiding under Mary's name). Mary directly instructed Jesus' disciples to go DIRECTLY to Him (saying 'whatsoever He says to you to do, do it'). She is just as human as anyone else. Note that in Eden's garden (after Adam & Eve had SINNED against God), God still told the serpent (satan) that the woman's SEED shall bruise his head (despite the woman's already sinning). So Mary could not have been eternally sinless when God came via her.
@7olusegun HMMM you mean to say God will entrust his only son Jesus to a sinner?
Is God sinless?
Is Jesus sinless?
If he is why would God allow his only son be place at a womb of a sinner?
Stop distorting what the bible says
Who should I go for the right bible interpretations
The Catholic church who compiled it? they are the only one who selected what scrolls to be put in the NEw Testament added the Chapters, Verses and Canonized em.
or over 38,000 (& counting) Confuse Protesting Denom?
If God should judge all men due to sin, no one will survive. It is by the mercy of God that He came via a sinner Mary. This was in direct relation to the fact that God told satan in Eden "the woman's seed will bruise your head". Note that the woman, Eve, was already a sinner at this time God was talking. Yet He said her seed (Jesus) will come via her. Lo, in Luk.2:22, Mary underwent PURIFICATION (showing she was not all sinless) & in Luk. 1:47, she said God was her SAVIOR.
She would not had undergone purification nor said God was her savior if she was eternally sinless. Lo, the bible said, why we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. I am not distorting anything about the bible, it's you who is. The bible was not written by the RCC. The RCC, wrote its own & incorporated Babylonian and Egyptian beliefs in its own (you may watch 'battle of the bibles', by Walter Veith). Like the bible said, grievous wolves adulterated the bible & not sparing the flock.
The same Church that was entrusted with giving us the Holy Bible is the same Church ( founded by Christ on Pentecost) that approves or disapproves Marian apparitions. Please, read what the Church Fathers said about the Eucharist, the Bishop of Rome, about the Mass. Jesus Christ is present at every Mass all over the world. He said "Consume my body and consume my blood". Mary leads her children to her son.
L.1. 41And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, th

MrILoveYeshua 10 months ago
The thing is that we do not worship Virgin Mother Mary as a God but we ask her to pray for us simply because we are heavy sinners and need her prayers. As it says that prayers of a righteous man are more worthy than those of unrighteous, the question arises are we righteous? Answer is no because we are heavy sinners.Righteous people do not sin steadily, thats really, really rare.
MrILoveYeshua 10 months ago
Mary was the most righteous woman god had created that did give birth to Jesus as a virgin. However ... Only god is worthy of worship, and I think this is exactly what Jesus taught.

"When a person of common sense wishes to obtain information about anything, whether political, religious, or scientific, (or any other subject) he goes to the source for authentic and unbiased information - never to those who seek to destroy, or who are the enemies of that which he wishes to study. Church history from the Apostles to the sixteenth century is not taught in any Protestant seminary, nor anywhere else amongst Protestants, as far as I know.

2 TYPES OF SALVATION

Enoch whose body and soul was lifted into heaven

In order to understand the meaning of "co-mediatrix" or "co-redemptrix",
you MUST understand the meaning of the prefix "co".
It does NOT mean equal. It simply means "part- of".When Protestants complain about these terms, they generally mistakenly assume that they mean "equal to".
This is simply not the case.
junmeskie 1 year ago
The term "co-redemptrix",
then, would simply mean that Mary played a role in our salvation...which she clearly did.
It was her "yes" that allowed Jesus to be born among us.
This is the role she played.

@junmeskie - Agian, you make a cliam that is opposed to God's Holy Word -

Who will you believe the Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit, or the RCC?

1). God is perfect - Mary is pre-planned not an accident she is the woman mentioned in Genesis 3:15
MARY IS THE NEW EVE
2). Mary was conceived without sin - her son Jesus who is God (with supernatural power) save her from all sin from conception until death.
GOD IS GOD HE CREATED SOME PPL SINLESS read your bible again and again

3) God created Adam & Eve without sin
Who is greater?
Eve who brought sin into this world or Mary who brought salvation (Jesus) into this world?
4). Mary was assumed into heaven body & soul - Genesis 3:15 God separate "woman" Mary and the "devil". What is the wages of sin? Death.
Mary The Mother of God LUKE 1:43

5). Mary Queen of Heaven

6) Mary as a Queen of Heaven - intercedes for us.

CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP STATUES, STATUES & ICONS ARE ONLY REMINDERS LIKE PICTURES OF LOVED ONES IN PHOTOGRAPHS
We bow to Mary & the saints TO SHOW RESPECT and HONOR like the Japanese people bowing to ppl
Peasants kneel in front of Kings, Queens, Prince, Princess – to show RESPECT
when we kisses the hand of the Pope, Bishops or Priests ...THIS IS A SIGN OF RESPECT...like the Filipinos who kisses the hand of their elders
WE MUST GIVE HONOR & RESPECT TO WHAT GOD HAS BLESS!

"And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@Isaiah122 Ok, here is the deal - the Big Picture. Jesus left us a Church - Jesus appointed certain men to lead that Church (Episcopate = Bishop). Also, Jesus gave these men the power to 'bind and loose' - to forgive people's sins - and to administer the Sacraments. And, Jesus left us the "paradosis" (Sacred Tradition) + Sacred Scripture. Now, it took the Church and the Bishops 240 -300 years to hammer out the Canon of the New Testament and the Old Testament. (Part 1)
rehtus777 2 years ago
(Part 2)
rehtus777 2 years ago
(Part 3) But on the whole, the Eastern Orthodox Church was in Union with Rome when it comes to Scripture (with a few exceptions). Ok, now according to you, Sola Scriptura is the rule and the Apostles followed this theology. Then after St. John died in 100 A.D., the Church slowly went into some kind of "Babylonian Captivity of the Church." So, for 1500 years, the Church was an Apostacy.... unitl low-and-behold, St. Martin comes along and frees the Church from 1400 years of bondage. GET REAl!!
rehtus777 2 years ago
Ps Do you see how ludicrous that thinking is, my friend? Christ said that he would send the Holy Spirit to be with the Church - Always and Forever. So what Church was the Holy Spirit inspiring for 1400 years? Because much of what you believe in Scripture is NOT seen in the 1400 years prior to Luther. The Mass - Sacraments - infant baptism - the Trinity - "no polygamy" - these are the norm. (BTW, Luther wanted Polygamy to be the norm - he INTERPRETED the NT to support his belief in Polygamy.)
rehtus777 2 years ago
Long and Complex subject. Also, some of your Mary quotes are NOT Vatican approved apparitions - this is misleading. In Vatican Approved Apparitions, Mary "points the way to her Son, Jesus Christ - she tells us to 'obey' him." (hmmmm... sounds alot like the Wedding Feast at Cana - "Do whatever he tells you.") As for 1 Tim 2:5, yes, Jesus is the ONE mediator - true enough; but lets not forget about 2 Cor 5:20. All of us 'below' Christ are "Ambassadors" - "Christ has no body now, but yours."
rehtus777 2 years ago
Part 2 - As for the "CO" in Mediatrix or Redemptrix, this does NOT mean "Equal" to, but it means "Shares a part in." Mary could have told Gabriel "NO" at the Annunciation, therefore Jesus would NOT have taken on the flesh through Mary; but since she said "yes", she gives Jesus her DNA (through Free-will) and Jesus can now redeem the world through His Body and Blood. Also, check out James 15:16 - Is that scripture quote NOT a mediation to God? It sure is.... they are "praying for each other."
rehtus777 2 years ago
Part 3 - 1 Tim 2:5-6 tells us that Jesus is the One Mediator between God & Man. Jesus is the High Priest, but we 'believers' gain merit by secondary priesthood in its varied forms - that secondary priesthood returns to the one Priestly Source. Therefor, we share in Christ's Mediation. 2 Peter 1:4 - "you may become partakers of the Divine nature." Also, in 1 John 3:1 - "we shall be called 'Children of God.'" Therefor, we a partakers of His Divine Nature. "Christ has no body now, but yours."
rehtus777 2 years ago

Isaiah122 2 years ago
You should come out of your bubble of ignorance and study history, The Bible is the fruit of the Church tradition and not the other way around and the texts were many before the church discerned what is canonical and what is not. The Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE CHURCH built by Jesus Christ. It is the Catholic Church that survived all kind of heretic movements and it will also survive the silly fudamentalists groups that turned faith into a joke.
Enigmatik691 2 years ago
@Enigmatik691

Isaiah122 2 years ago

You speak of the canonized BibleWhy did the RCC add 15 books to their Bible in 1546 (Some 1200 years AFTER the Bible was canonized)?
Who has changed their bible after it was canonized?
Who embraces unbiblical doctrines?
Who teaches heretical traditions as being equal to God's Word?
Who has killed more Christians than any other organization in History?
If you guessed the Roman catholic Church you would be correct.
Last question, who is the heretic?
Isaiah122 2 years ago
You are wrong, it is the Protestants who excluded books that were already there and specifically because it didnt suit their theology, \the point is, \men were evaluating scriptures and deciding what should be sacred not the other way around. (continued)
Enigmatik691 2 years ago
The problem with you fundamentalists is that everything is CLEAR but u cut and paste from scriptures what suits you without looking at the whole. NO interpreting scriptures is not obvious and it requires serious study. Throwing a verse here and there is not sincere and often mislead, the fact that thousands of sects disagree and yet claim to be following the same Bible is a proof of what I am saying.

@Enigmatik691
You didn't answer my questions, why?
Why did the RCC add 15 books to their Bible in 1546 (Some 1200 years AFTER the Bible was canonized)?
The Bible teaches a man is Justified once and for all by FAITH not works(Romans 8.30, Eph 2.8-9).
(Ephesians 2:8-9) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
The RCC teaches man is justified repeatedly by the sacraments and works.
Isaiah122 2 years ago
See you are proving my point (The Bible teaches a man is Justified once and for all by FAITH not works(Romans 8.30, Eph 2.8-9). ) How would you reconcile that with James: Faith without work is dead!
Enigmatik691 2 years ago
Don't forget Matthew 35:31-46 :-) That parable talks about "Confessed Christians" who are thrust into hell because they sat on their thumbs & did NOT do "Good Works" in their life. Catholic Theology is"right on the numbers" and it is so beautiful. The Reformation was a very sad and evil event. brought about by ignorance, pride, and divorce. Yes, some of the Bishops were corrupt because of money, but Luther went waaaaaay too far in reforming the Church - he should have stayed away from Theology.
rehtus777 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago

ETC
Isaiah122 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago
Look, this is getting monotonous..... just go to James 2:24.... enough said. In that quote, that is the only time "Faith Alone" is used in Scripture - and it is quoted to prove that "Faith Alone" isn't enough, but it takes 'good works' as well.... they go hand in hand .... you can't have one without the other. Again, YES, we are 'justified by our faith'.... but NOT alone. It takes 'hope, love' and good works.' John 6:29 does nothing for "Faith Alone". And you Rev. quotes are misinterpreted
rehtus777 2 years ago
Eph 2:8-10 does NOT say "Faith Alone." Look at Ephesians 2:10 - it says, "For we are his handiwork, created in Jesus Christ for the GOOD WORKS that God has prepared in advance , that we should live in them." Take that quote with Romans 2:13 "For it is not merly those who hear the law who are rightous in God's sight. No, it is those who follow the law, who will be justified." Again, it is "Faith" that justifies us, but Charity Must Follow - if charity doesn't follow, then the Faith is Dead.
rehtus777 2 years ago
@rehtus777
SEE.
Isaiah122 2 years ago
You're missing the point. You can be "Born Again" - then Baptized - then cry & weep for the Lord Jesus & say, "I love you, Jesus, so very much - you're my everything" - and you mean it. Then for the next year or so, you do all sorts of charity work. But then during the 2nd year of faith, U quit doing chairitable things - U decide to make lots of money for yourself - U horde the money & you start to treat people cruely. Then all of a sudden, you die. Are you saved by "Faith Alone", my friend?
rehtus777 2 years ago
[Part 2] A true story. A friend of mine was "Born Again" about 15 years ago - truly loved Jesus. A few years after he was born again, I had a conversation with him about Religion & Faith - during this talk, he was saying the same stuff you tell me now. Well, about 5 years ago, my friend started a 2 year adulterous affair with a woman - he eventually divorced his wife and married another woman. He quit going to his Church - and he became a biker. Ok, is he still justified by "Faith Alone."???
rehtus777 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago
Dude, all you've proved to me is that anyone can twist the Scripture to conform to what they want it to believe. 2000 years of Catholic History - thousands and thousands of PHD's / High IQ types combing over Scripture. Don't you think that if your "formuala" for interpreting Scripture was correct, that these extremely intellegent people would see it the way you see it? No, my friend, there are at least 1000 different interpretations of Scripture twisted in different ways.
rehtus777 2 years ago
Weak answer. Your type of theology is flawed. Example: If we were to follow you formula, then there is no need for Jesus to say, "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." What's the point? Look, "temptation" and "evil" can lead us to sin.... and some sin is "Deadly." You can lose your "Grace of Justification" - but a repentant sinner can have it restored. My friend was led into the "Temptation" of LUST and this led to Adultery. He got discourage with the faith and he fell away.
rehtus777 2 years ago
@Enigmatik691
James is speaking of having an active faith as opposed to a dead, false faith. He isn't clearly presenting a works salvation. Read verse 2.10 and he clearly demonstrates this.
The fruit of a tree doesn't make a tree good or bad, it only shows if the tree is good or bad.
Works will only demonstrate the true nature that resides within you - a redeemed and saved person or a lost and dead person.
continued -
Isaiah122 2 years ago
Whoever said they believed in "Works Salvation?" NOT the Catholic Church- she never has - never will. That was a title given by Protestants to Demonize Catholics. Ok, one more time: "Catholics believe in Justification by Faith" - but NOT by FAITH ALONE. The second chapter of James puts that ALL to rest. Remember, there is a reason why Martin Luther wanted to throw out the Book of James - that second chapter really messed with his world - it threw a wrench in his Theology of 'Sola Fida'.
rehtus777 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago
You're going down a whole other road here. We believe that we can lose our "Soul" to Mortal Sin. We believe that we can lose our 'Grace of Justification' through "Mortal Sin." 1 John 5:16-17 talks about "Mortal Sin" (Deadly Sin) and a lesser Sin. The Deadly Sin referred to by John can "kill your soul." To have these sins removed from our Soul (as long as the person is truly 'sorry' for their sins), then see John 20:21-23; Matt 16:19; & 2 Cor 5:18 "...given us the ministry of reconciliation."
rehtus777 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Second, the same writer states in, 1 John 1.9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from [ALL] unrighteousness.
continued -
Isaiah122 2 years ago
You need to know Catholic Theology in-order to debate with me. I don't want to sit here all day explaining every theology of the Catholic Church to you. No offense, but you don't even have a remote grasp of my faith. As for reconcilliation, I've already quoted the necessary scripture passages - the greatest example is John 20:21-23. The Apostles (bishops of the first century) had the power to forgive sins or retain sins. This was passed on from year to year - century to century. "paradosis"
rehtus777 2 years ago
As for 1 John 5:16-17, this describes "Mortal" and "Venial" sins. Motal Sin kills the soul, while Venial sin wounds the soul. Also, since the pastors of our faith were given the power to forgive "mortal" sins, we go to them for confession. Our Pastors forgive sins by saying the following...... [see next comment]
rehtus777 2 years ago
"God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son, has reconciled us to the world to Himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." So you see, it is the Trinity who absolves our sins, but the Priest has been given the power to administer this Sacrament (John 20:21-23).
rehtus777 2 years ago
@Isaiah122 it doesn't matter what u think....here is what Catholics believe..As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:58), but Im also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:910, 1 Cor. 3:1215). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:1113).
junmeskie 1 year ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Continued -
Isaiah122 2 years ago
@rehtus777
Isaiah122 2 years ago
Then what is the purpose of John 20:21-23? Big picture, dude, big picture. Look, in Col 2:13-14, it is talking about ALL past "transgressions" (sins) being forgiven; it doesn't say, "the rest of your 'sins' are already forgiven... just forget about them, Jesus has forgiven you already. I have sent you a link explaining the difference between the Bibles but i do not see it here. I will resend but it proves is that your question is wrongly formulated. The RCC did not add books, it is protestants who excluded ones, This is another lie spread by fundamentalists.

7olusegun 1 year ago
@7olusegun CON'T Moreover, there is an ancient Eastern discipline of choosing bishops from the ranks of the celibate monks, so their bishops are all unmarried.
The tradition in the Western or Latin-Rite Church has been for priests as well as bishops to take vows of celibacy, a rule that has been firmly in place since the early Middle Ages. Even today, though, exceptions are made. For example, there are married Latin-Rite priests who are converts from Lutheranism and Episcopalianism.
junmeskie 1 year ago
@junmeskie

THE BIBLE IS A CATHOLIC BOOK!
junmeskie 1 year ago
@junmeskie @junmeskie
7olusegun 1 year ago
@junmeskie
7olusegun 1 year ago
@7olusegun Celibacy and the Priesthood - The first and most basic confusion is thinking of priestly celibacy as a dogma or doctrine—a central and irreformable part of the faith, believed by Catholics to come from Jesus and the apostles.
Thus some Fundamentalists make a great deal of a biblical reference to Peters mother-in-law (Mark 1:30), apparently supposing that, if Catholics only knew that Peter had been married, they would be unable to regard him as the first pope.
junmeskie 1 year ago
@junmeskie

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS HOLY
(Eph. 5:2527, Rev. 19:78)
Eph. 5:26)
junmeskie 1 year ago
@7olusegun CON'T These Fundamentalists are often surprised to learn that even today celibacy is not the rule for all Catholic priests. In fact, for Eastern Rite Catholics, married priests are the norm, just as they are for Orthodox and Oriental Christians.
Even in the Eastern churches, though, there have always been some restrictions on marriage and ordination. Although married men may become priests, unmarried priests may not marry, and married priests, if widowed, may not remarry.
junmeskie 1 year ago
@7olusegun CON'T As these variations and exceptions indicate, priestly celibacy is not an unchangeable dogma but a disciplinary rule.
The fact that Peter was married is no more contrary to the Catholic faith than the fact that the pastor of the nearest Maronite Catholic church is married.
Although most people are at some point in their lives called to the married state, the vocation of celibacy is explicitly advocated—as well as practiced—by both Jesus and Paul.
junmeskie 1 year ago

7:21–23, 19:16–21).
junmeskie 1 year ago
We do not "earn" our salvation through good works (Eph. 2:8–9, Rom. 9:16), but our faith in Christ puts us in a special grace-filled relationship with God
so that our obedience and love, combined with our faith, will be rewarded with eternal life (Rom. 2:7, Gal. 6:8–9).
Paul said, "God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work" (Phil. 2:13). John explained that "the way we may be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments.
junmeskie 1 year ago
Whoever says, ‘I know him,’ but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him" (1 John 2:3–4, 3:19–24, 5:3–4).
Since no gift can be forced on the recipient—gifts always can be rejected—even after we become justified, we can throw away the gift of salvation.
We throw it away through grave (mortal) sin (John 15:5–6, Rom. 11:22–23, 1 Cor. 15:1–2; CCC 1854–1863). Paul tells us, "The wages of sin is death" (Rom. 6:23).
junmeskie 1 year ago
Read his letters and see how often Paul warned Christians against sin! He would not have felt compelled to do so if their sins could not exclude them from heaven (see, for example, 1 Cor. 6:9–10, Gal. 5:19–21).
Paul reminded the Christians in Rome that God "will repay everyone according to his works: eternal life for those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works,
but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness" (Rom. 2:6–8).
junmeskie 1 year ago
Sins are nothing but evil works (CCC 1849–1850). We can avoid sins by habitually performing good works. Every saint has known that the best way to keep free from sins is to embrace regular prayer, the sacraments (the Eucharist first of all), and charitable acts.

[part 1]
rehtus777 2 years ago
As for the "Deuterocanonicals", your belief is a "myth". At the Council of Rome (382) the Church decided upon the canon of 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. (BTW, Pope Damasus presided over that Council in Rome). The decision to accept 46 books in the O.T. was ratified by the Councils of Hippo (393), Carthage (397, 419), II NIcea (787), Flourence (1442), and Trent (1546). So, you are wrong in your Premise. You really need to read up on your History.

1integrity 2 years ago

@junmeskie

@junmeskie
7olusegun 1 year ago
@junmeskie
