  • @Justinian43

    Greeks being racists?

Get about 2 real reasons about it.

If you are american, don't even answer, talking of racists.

Also,Romans were the main reason for Europe falling into chaos during midevil times...

  • who was the child actor?

  • @LordCalhoun

He is Thomas Brodie - Sangster and is Hugh Grant's cousin. He has established a film production company with his mother, to promote new young talent.

  • Great upload MissV and dont worry about all these other fools they just lost touch with thier imagination its not thier fault they take life fact by fact thats why hollywood dont want shit to with them if we wanted facts we would watch the history channel mofo

  • Historical inaccuracies? Give it a rest, it's an action/adventure film and makes no claim to be anything else.

Yes, it is based in 5th century Europe but it's also partly based on Arthurian myth and legend. I personally would not be looking for a documentary more a bit of fun.

Thankyou MissV for the time and effort, great upload.

  • so many great actors, and such a klisje movie. What a shame.

  • i love history too but what also and incredibly pissed me off is how untrue and unfair this is to the novel.

  • @goldencenturion i know right? I hate it when people do that they should at least remember that stuff in middle school plus when ever i watch movies like these i have to give history lessions to my sister.

  • who told you there were no african people in romantimes, just so you know, african people were considered the same amongst the people of the empire, there was a black emperor (one of the best) and an arab emperor, in other words the romans were imperialists, dreamers, etc. but never racist! haha hollywood installed that view of only white romans, there were also black romans =)

  • @Justinian43 Yeah, this is true. Race only became a problem when modern structure democracy formed (my opinion) since the fear of revolt and revolution could be common, a seperation of people was needed. No one wants a repeat of the collapse of rome where the minorities would swell and become the MAJORITY. You cut the minority (this case, the poor and middle class) by creating racism. I mean shit, back thenm in the usa, irish and italians were called "inside out niggers", and not anymore.

  • @Justinian43 If you are talking about Philip the Arab he was not an Arab he was a Roman from Provences in Eastern front, as Trajan and Hadrian were from Western Provences in Spain, so they were not Spanish! Also Julia Domna the wife of Septimus Severus and mother of Caracalla she was not an Arab she was from an well known Aramaic and Assyrian family, this is arab spring thing that they want to change history for their own benefit, same happened for Avecena who was a Persian not Arab!

  • @siliyemoodislam i know they called himthe arab because of his skin tone, and what are you trying to prove? either way romans weren't racist haha even in byzantine times, remember john comnenus? =)

  • @Justinian43 Weren't racist? O-O

  • @Rennikus nope! haha yeah they massacred conquered cities, were brutal or insane (like nero amongst others) but they weren't i know, you might expect greece to be non-racist but they were the racist ones, rome in the west was not racist until medieval times

  • @Justinian43

No they weren't racist. Their slaves were of most races.

  • @joanii11 what an answer! grande!

  • @smolarec1

Thank you but please excuse my sarcasm.

  • @Justinian43 THE BYZANTINES ARE GREEKS

  • @sterlingmenthol77 The Roman Empire expanded far into north Africa so alot of them probably got conscripted or enlisted into the Roman Army.

  • @sterlingmenthol77 is there really anyneed for that bullshit you prick racist mother fucker

narrow minded people end up in the gutter but then again you seem like your already there keep your bullshit comments to yourself

  • Comment removed

  • @sterlingmenthol77 Really? Haha Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, Jay-Z etc. all successful and living a better life than you, idiot haha! Plus, nothing like that will ever happen again it was HISTORY. You're the kinda person, people hate!

  • @sterlingmenthol77 I am not black, but I am also not stupid. Learn your damn history, blacks werent slaves all their lives. The kingdom of Nubia was thriving in ancient times. Egypt was darker in ancient times. Numidia helped the carthagians beat the romans, and then beat carthage. Their were dark skinned black people throughout history from carthage to persian empire, back then slaves were people they conquered, which was usually themselves.

  • it's charlie in the chocolate factory. oh woops sorry wrong film. i dunno how i got mixed up

  • Kevin Mckidd looks like a klingon. Obviously a very pretty klingon, but still.

  • Yes we all know than Hollywood dosent made too realistick movies, just ENJOY! (btw, is this even made by hollywood?... Well dosent matter)

  • Filmmakers ought to consider hiring historians and archaeologists to keep things straight in so-called "historical" films...not to mention it'd open up a huge job market for us historians and archaeologists lol

  • @maplesugarfever I'm working on it

  • Ah, this is an exellent movie! the goths homeland was south Sweden ye know. And as a Swede my self it is fun to see how my own people affected the roman empire so much! Begun with many battles lost ended with the shattering of the roman empire only a 100 years later after that. :)

  • Colin Firth and Thomas Sangster are great actors <3

  • this is 300 all over again... mistakes wallpapered for cinematic effect which falls flat as its not even remotely as memorable as 300 was/is.

  • Caesar --> Augustus (great-nephew) --> Tiberius (step-son)

That sword didn't get very far now, did it?

  • spelks @ 2:16 lol

  • thanks for the upload!! :)

  • when little empror walks past colin firth is thinking...oh shit...

  • MANY thanks for uploading this movie, Valy :)

  • 9:16, you can see the soldier at the far end mouth "we're dead" when they realize who the boy is.

  • i love thomas sangster

  • I enjoyed this movie, but as a history geek it did nothing short of piss me off. 2 reasons: Firstly, Romulus Augustus, while he was indeed quite young (14 years old) when he was crowned emperor, did not even become emperor until 476, not in 460 as this film shows. SECONDLY, Rome was not even the capital of the Western Empire at the time, it was Ravenna!

  • @GoldenCenturion Yes, absolutely right; I've read the info I could on this film and it's very historically inaccurate. Major blunders! How could they, it seems the novel was fairly accurate. I still want to watch because I'm curious. How do u rate this??

  • @GoldenCenturion Thirdly, stfu

  • @temptstress666 lol U mad?

  • @GoldenCenturion I know but it is the best non-classic movie about Rome I have seen. By the way, did you notice that the solders have first century gear?

  • @GoldenCenturion Hello history geek. Me too. I get particularly ticked at the notion in the old spectaculars that Rome became something benevolent with the onset of Christianity.Hardly. But I still watch them, well, for the spectacle. I doubt Mark Anthony ever said "cry havoc" and I don't think Livia controlled the destiny of Rome with her I Claudius poisons but they are fun to watch. I'm on your side and feel mildly smug ticking off the innacuracies that no one else cares about. All the best.

  • @GoldenCenturion Also the one thing I hate is the romantics they always put into these crappy protrayals . No offense if you like it but I dont . I love watching movies and shows about Rome like Hbo's Rome . Now that is a very awesome show and they portray it exactly . They have brothels in the cities, killings, swearing, nudity and sex which is exactly what rome was at the time . Idk I just think this puts to much on the stereotypical view that Rome was clean and happy and blah blah . Lolol .

  • But id have to say that this movie is an embarassment . Lolol . Once again that's just my opinion .

  • @GoldenCenturion I hear u so I just enjoyed the story and the fight scenes of Aishwarya Rai. The movie seems to suggest Islam has already conquered the East with the uniforms of the Byzantines and the statement that in Alexandria they cut off the hands of thieves. Although its true Islamic Turks copied much from Constantine like the Star and Crescent. Who would have thought Aishwarya Rai would become a martial arts star?

  • @GoldenCenturion Also on Ravenna being the capital who but a history geek would know that? Rome remained the cultural center of the West in the same way that New York City is for the USA long after it was no longer the capital. Ravenna was little more than a resort for the last rulers and by now the Roman Catholic Church was becoming more the actual ruling class which was still based in Rome. But I hear you. I enjoyed the movie and the way they tried to link it to the legend of Excaliber.

  • @kybelian NYC was never the capital of the US, idiot. Or the cultural center, either.

  • @Evilmike42

New York was the capital of the USA before Washington DC was buiit. Philadelphia too. Please study history b4 calling someone else an 'idiot.'

And I doubt u would know what is meant by 'Cultural Capital.'

  • It can be easily googled or just read wikipedia as the Brittanicas maybe too advanced for you.

  • @Evilmike42

One can always know the lack of knowledge in a poster by their use of the terms 'idiot' or 'moron.'

I am going to help you.

Washington DC is strictly the administrative-govt. capital of the USA. Where did you think the US capital was b4 DC was built?

NYC is the cultural capital of the USA. How do you not know this? Why do u think so much of the arts and finance are centred there? NYC is the definitive US city. Where did you go to school?

  • @GoldenCenturion So you do not think history is a fantasy. OK?

Who was the ruler of China in 476 (specify Julian or Gregorian calender so we get the "correct" year). When were they born and when did they come to power. What references can you give and how can we know they were accurate, unbiased or even truthful.

It seems that being absolutely certain of when and where Romulus Augustus became emperor is a leap of faith and you are a defender of the faith.

  • @GoldenCenturion the jews that own hollywood are not going to do the catholics any favours (unless they paid them) ,they didtort christianity all the time and try and link christianity to paganism ,thats how they have changed dates...you only have to look at the sybolism in a hollywood movie to see that its been altered on pupose under tge guise of artistic liesence

  • @reksub10 Or maybe you're just a racist conspiracy nut who's reading in stuff that's not there, and just won't accept the fact that the movie is nothing more than one big historically inaccurate mess.

  • lol Good attempt at the Welsh accent Sir Ben ;)

  • They've acted together the boy and Colin before. Love Actually I think

  • @Keranofkri They also worked together in Nanny McPhee :)

  • @AnadriewenCuthalion Ah true I forgot about that one lol. They are both good actors

  • such a bad movie

  • No Empire has been so great ,so powerful, totaly power ful like Old Romain one.

  • Historically inaccurate armor. Shields of the Roman legions were replaced with the Christian chi-ro 100 years pior to the date of this movie's portrayed era. LOL!

  • Colin in this film is different but he is very handsome and in teresting. I like it very much.
