small thing for everyone playing this piece: i played this and the first movement recently for a masterclass by claude monteux. He pointed out that the lyrical part in this song (piu mosso) is moving, and is at the same speed not slower than the technical parts.
i don't particularly like Smith's interpretation, but I like it on flute better than violin...
that's just me, and i'm biased because i play the flute. i do love this sonata.

Geeeeeez. His embouchure must be suuuuper off-kilter if he has to keep his flute THAT tilted.
