@pinseeker1957 The debate over Scottish independence is between Scottish unionists and Scottish nationalists. There is no need to accuse England of not leaving Scotland alone. As for Wales in the recent elections the nationalists got, if I remember, about 18% of the vote. As for Ireland we all know the history behind it - but never the less in Northern Ireland and especially in the Republic a huge majority voted in favour of the principle that the people of the north should decide their future

@ThePackDogWalks I agree with the point you are making but just wouldn't describe it as England. It is the UK Govt along with the other main unionist party (ie Labour). Not England as a whole. In fact again Scottish independence, at the moment, seems to have a higher support in England than it does in Scotland itself. That could change of course especially if Moore and Cameron interfere too much. Moore is Scottish but his party has no mandate. Cameron is the most un-Scottish semi Scot I've seen

the Scottish and the English will always dispute with each other as a Nation Scotland is a strong one as is England what I do not like is the rest of Europe enjoying OUR life and OUR island I would rather the Scottish and English had the Eternal misunderstanding than inviting every other damn country in to it. Maybe you are right. I just think as someone has heritage from all over the British isles , to see the country break up now would be sad. True it hasn't always been in its current state but the history of the combined country has many things that we as one joint nation can be proud of rather than looking at our original national identities. As the United Kingdom, British ( all area's) fought and died together for the UK and all its peoples. We should be proud . Combined we saved Europe.

As if Americans saved Britain from the Germans. Germany wouldn't have lasted and would ultimately have lost the war especially after they involved Russia. Yes, it would have taken longer and more parts of Europe would have come under the Russian influence but certainly not Britain. That nice little pool of water pretty much made it unconquerable.

If anything America would have suffered from not having the export market they had and might have had a lot more trouble latter on.
