The best Dominican cigars are made with Cuban seed and rival the best Cuban cigars. When Castro took over, he nationalized everything, including the cigar factories. The owners fled with seed and started over in the Dominican republic. Soil isn't as good, but it was amended. After the cold war, the Cubans couldn't even get fertilizer. Look at top ranked cigars only a few are Cuban nowadays.
in geneva and switzerland you can buy the finest cuban cigars in the right places, im not gunna drop any names but the finest cubans are there i promise you
my friend used to live in cuba and he goes back every summer to visit.. this year he came back with a box of cohiba cigars and i bought 5 of them for £30.... :D
yes well his grandfather actually works in a factory that makes them, and i dont know what happened from there but he got them all legally and approved i know for sure. ive smoked all 5 of them already at a few parties :( i want some more but dont know where to get them, any ideas where they sell these brand on the web?
where can i get this manual machines ( they must to work ) to i make my own cigars. if i travel to cuba or some country like that one, they can sell me it ? for... 50 to 150 euros ( € ) = 941 pesos to 2.823 pesos ( $ ) they should agree it? omg i love cuba cigar factory!
can you buy Cohiban cigars individually? A man I met in a cafe told me that he got a box of them from a duty free shop in Montreal for $300 (25 cigars, I think)
yeah i saw them the last time i was in a smoke shop. one was about 15 bucks, which was more than the rest of my purchase, so i didnt end up getting it. i wish i could give a review but sadly i'm a poor student and cant afford such pleasures
well...many cuban cigars are of original domincan leaf /seed tobacco. Cuba has a littel nastier soil (ph) which gives it that full dark robust overpowering specifically cuban flavor. There are more varieties in Domincan due to the climates. Opus X will kill most Cubans - but really good cubans dominate the globe - just have to try them all >:~)
No worries, thanks for replying. I actually went out and brought a Macanudo Diplomatico Maduro which was a Dominican recommended to me by the cigar shop I buy from, fat little cigar which has a really nice smell to it, I think I'll get stuck into it this weekend.
Well, I was talking to you. Cuban cigars are from Cuban seed, genetically engineered by the Cuban government. It does not and has not originated from DR. Nor, has any leaf other than Cuban origin been used in the production of Habanos. Any' rumour' that you may have heard otherwise is pure BS. And while it may be your personal opinion that an Opus X is better than a Cuban, that is definitely not the consensus amongst seasoned cigar smokers.
dan3232 it sounds like you have never smoked a real cuban cigar like most of us Americans theres so many fakes going around... a lot of people get tricked into thinking there smoking a real Cuban. nothing can ever beat a real habanos.
Until I buy one in Cuba direct I am afraid I am going tohave to agree with oyu. I have bought many that were"cuban" for reputable places in canada, bermuda and the bahamas and less reputable dealres in Costa Rica and Panama and have always been skeptical - so I agree with you and am looking forward to the true thing! in the meantime i'll have to stick with my opus x i guess
@silvereagile2061 I bought some in Mexico, the box said Cohibas, Hecho En Cuba, Totalmente a mano, were those real? They were in a wooden box with about 10 in there.
i was in mexico a few years back and picked up a box of "cohiba's" for about $25, ofcorse i didnt know what the hell i was buying and purely brought them to say "i got some cuban cigars" even though i didnt smoke at the time, the wooden box says Habana, Cuba and Totalmente a mano, with a silverish habana seal and greenish (import?) seal on the box, also brought some "guantanamera 5 decimos" for around the same price from a habanos shop, the latter taste better.....
Sorry to but in here but living in Australia where one can get Cuban cigars eazy let me say this: I don't really smoke any more (too expensive now) I did smoke cigars for many years. Whilst the very best Cuban cigars are very hard to beat there are a LOT of dud cigars out of Cuba eg. too tightly rolled, not aged enough etc. (you don't need fakes to get a bad Cuban) If you live in the US there is still many fine smokes you can enjoy! The top line Padrons are VERY good!!!
@dan3232 Opus X is a marketing marble ,not a world class cigar, Carlos and Carlito have done an incredible job of making you think they are the best, but for a few lucky Us, i have had over 7000 cigars so far and by far i can make lists to the end of the world of better cigars than the Opus x.
You are also wrong about (many)Cuban cigars being of Dominican seed, it is the other way around Cuban seed is the world standard .
Dominican cigars are for the lighter smoker, Cuban cigars are for real man
Mm yummy cigars

I have a few online legit vendors, you have to be very careful who you buy from there are a lot of vendors that claim to sell real authentic Habanos.
cigarsofhabanos (dot) com, has good prices and topcubans (dot) com meant to be good too. stay away from solocigars, royalhabanos, puroexpress....
they are lying scum.

anytime. look for someone walking around with the cigars cause generally its cheaper than the cigar shops.

Its a shame that there are more fakes out there than real cubans. quality control will also improve once (if) the embargo gets lifted
silvereagile2061 2 years ago 2
No offence dude, but if you think that being cuban makes a cigar better than any other, you are wrong.
There are ahost of crap cigars to come out of Cuba, just like anywhere else; and good ones, like anywhere else.
I think Americans have a hightned opinion of cubans because they are the forbidden fruit for you guys.
lobzdik 2 years ago
Sometimes they do make crap, but a well aged Cuban with good construction and draw stored at the right conditions will beat any NC
silvereagile2061 2 years ago
wow, five thumbs down? lobzdik is correct. Nicaraguan cigars are some of the best now. padron is one.
