  • Curtis plays Jazz Live San Diego TONIGHT 8-10PM PT Jazz 88.3 FM San Diego Webcast Jazz88.org! I get to host!!

  • he was playing a small bore yamaha last week when I played with him. he'd lost a blessing recently while traveling. in the old blakey footage, he's playing an olds opera, almost bass tbn size bore.

  • anyone know what kind of horn curtis fuller plays?

  • This summer check out Curtis Fuller with Keith Oxman in Denver, Colorado at the one and only Dazzle Jazz Club.

  • yeah, I was there. it was just amazing.

  • Very tasteful licks from a 'bone master!

  • You are incorrect about Jimmmy Smith's album "The Sermon". Curtis Fuller plays trombone on the "bonus" cuts. Lee Morgan does NOT play valve trombone. Valve bone is not cheating. It is challenging to play due to intonation issues. Tony Studd plays bass bone Perhaps you are confused as to what constitutes a valve trombone? Valve trombone has three piston valves on what normaly is the slide portion of the horn. Bass Bones and some tenors have one or more valves on the bell portion of the horn

  • he is still killin it

  • Curtis is one amazing cat!! He PLAYS the 'bone. VERY musical indeed!!

  • THE MAGNIFICENT TROMBONE

  • Bob Brookmeyer is a beast, and he plays valve trombone. Also, on Jimmy Smiths - The Sermon, if you get the bonus tracks version, Lee Morgan plays valve trombone, and he is immaculate. It would be very easy to mistake him as a real trombone player.

  • yea, but valve trombones are gay

  • valve trombones do take a lot of the work out of playing the postion trombone.valve trombonist usually were baritone horn or tuba players wanting that compact horn.curtis fuller is one of the best I agree

  • what great trombonist.slide postioning trombone playing takes a lot of technique and curtis had it allnot to take away from valve trombone in which tony studds was one of the best.

  • Yeah Tony Studd was indeed a great Bass Trombone player.

  • yea, but valve trombones are gay, it's like cheating. curtis fuller is one of the best trombonists to ever play.
