I agree with most of this until the last question. Just because a guy is willing to sleep with another guy doesn't mean he is necessarily gay. He may be at most gay, yet he could be bi, or even just experimenting (or having one hellofa drunken time). Being gay, I am sure you already know, are the feelings you have for a member of your own sex. Sleeping with another man may be an indicator, but not necessarily so. Having sex does not equate to having emotional feelings toward one another.
One question I absolutely HATE as a slightly feminine gay guy: "Would you ever get a sex change?" No! I'm gay, not transsexual! I find vagina disgusting, so why would I want to put one on MY body?!
@SinnersBurnInHell Recent studies confirm most homophobic individuals have homoerotic feelings. Straight men have no reason to give a crap about gays and dont make such statements. Deal with it.
man, your voice is sexy indeed! I must share this: it happened to me (some years ago) to fall in love with a women, we had a relationship. I feel it like one of those odd things that happen in our lifes to give us prespective. We were very honest with eachother and we are stil friends today. I'm not atracted to wimen, (I never was) it was that one wondenfull person at that time. It didn't made me bi or str8, I'm stil really gay, like into hairy men. cheers.
As a heterosexual male I appreciate this video. I am guilty of asking at least one of these questions in my life. I believe that love is love. For me, another man isn't attractive. I applaud you for coming out and being true to yourself. As a person that believes in God I feel that those that want to recite the bible should do so also following the golden rule "Do unto others and you would have them do unto you."
Great video :) I just have one question- there is a stereotypical "gay voice" for gay men. It's real, though-I've met several gay men who have it. I've also met several who don't. Do some gay men just naturally talk that way, or do they decide to for some reason or another? If it's the latter, do you know what that reason might be? Pure curiosity on my part-I absolutely don't intend to offend any gay people; I'm all for gay rights. It's just something I've been wondering for a while now. :)
Being gay myself, that all makes complete sense to me. It's a shame that despite all the explaining and rational discussion you have with people about it, some will just never get it. They're often the ones who are quick to trot out the bible verses that make no sense, or they crap on about AIDS, a disease that doesn't discriminate like people do. Why should anyone be forced to repress their natural feelings?
People need to get past their xenophobia and just accept others for who they are.
@SinnersBurnInHell You are a complete idiot, I'll admit that there are SOME passages in the bible condoning homosexual relations, but they are in the book of Leviticus which also says that anyone who works on the sabbith must be stoned to death and how many people actually follow that teaching any more? Also it says that you are not allowed to touch any animal that does not chew it's cud AND have cloven hooves, how many of you eat pork?
When I'm asked by a straight person, "Who's the man in your relationship, and who's the woman?" I'll often answer: "You know, I was going to ask you the same question!"
@SinnersBurnInHell i am being punished to death, aren't we all, i mean we are all gonna to die, and about obeying your 'god', if abeying your god means going to heaven and spending eternity with assholes like you, i thank ill take my chances in hell, and it would be a punishment but more like a favor of leaving this godforsaken planet,
@SinnersBurnInHell you cant bring people to god by spreading hate. Funny how you talk about putting people to death when the bible says cast not the 1st stone. You cant even follow your own Bible... shame.
I get asked the same questions especially: Can you not be gay? It's like they think that I stood in line and received this. It's just who I am. Sometimes I ask: Can you not be straight? This usually makes them walk away.
Here is a question that I'm sure you have not been asked and everytime I ask it, nobody can answer. Is there a meaning to guys wearing rings on certain fingers on certain hands ie: Thumb or middle or index finger etc. on right or left hand. Does it indicate anything or is it just style.
There's a lot of videos on the questions you folk don't like being asked, but nobody's done any videos on what you do like to be asked. Seems all a bit negative to me. I get the impression that whatever I might say by way of making conversation might be taken as offensive.
@usenetposts Do you really think "So.... do you take it up the bum" is suitable for casual conversation? McGee seems quite willing to discuss the topics in a friendly & informative matter...but there's a big difference between asking a genuine question about homosexuality and asking the same ignorant insipid questions that they've been /facepalm'ing from all they're life. Do you meet people w/ the last name of "macDonald" and think yourself clever when you ask them if their first name is Ronald?
@usenetposts Lol - ok... next time you're waiting in line for something, strike up a conversation with the woman standing behind you and ask her how her flow is doing this month.
@usenetposts I'm not being abrasive... I'm not gay myself. I can just recognize that some questions are intensely personal and not appropriate to ask to someone who's not a close personal friend. Certainly, you can recognize this too, unless you're 100% socially inept... I don't quite understand what we're arguing here because you have no reason to argue against my point unless you're just looking to fight.
@StevenBee2 You are the one looking for a fight, not me, pal. I asked a sensible question, as in what should we ask, and you don't answer that, you impute me with asking incorrect questions. My point is that ALL the videos on this topic deal with the fact that gays get asked questions which vex them all the time, but no guidance for the perplexed is given on what we OUGHT to be asking them. At this rate, even asking them whether they have a cat or dog at home could be taken the wrong way!
im a girl. I wasnt born gay {or bi, i havent actually figured it out. i have a boyfriend that i like, but im in love with a girl(she knows and we're still friends but idk if she likes me that way}...confused) i just figured it out one night. @bluerise1 Pansexuals are attracted to individuals regardless of their gender. It's different than bi-sexuality... it's more like gender doesn't play any sort of role in the equation of whether you're attracted to someone or not.

Although I'm pretty sure no one with a brain would trust ME to do their hair. Not that it wouldn't be hilarious! XD I mean *I* would have fun. But I'm pretty sure it'd be a one time thing. And they'd probably end up with something kind of like what haircuts look like when kids cut their own hair.
But you know if they asked me if I turned straight people gay I'd say 'Oh yeah, dozens. And I already turned you gay too! It'll only take some time!'
I'd be like 'I just hit you with my gayzer-beam! You're gay now! You can deny it, but you're now completely gay!'
I mean seriously... what kind of IDIOT asks that? It's just lulzy! XD I guess in the US there's a lot of people who've been lied to by crazy religious fundies though, and they might ask that.
Mr. McGee, I wholeheartedly enjoyed this post. Thank you for so articulately expressing yourself. I have a confession; I find your voice very hot. I can't place your accent, but whatever it is, it gives me shivers. (I love that your "h" has an aspirate start, not the glottal stop mid-western US)
i'm so glad that someone made it clear that not all gay men have anal sex...some do and some don't, but people always make a generalization that it happens in every gay male relationship. sorry for the rant, that just always frustrated me!
@mcgee210 I'm 17 years old, not finished school yet, and I've already been asked if I'm a top or bottom. It's so annoying! It's like asking a straight person what they like to do for sex. >_<
definately understand your approach, however it is localised [even if widespread]. For example, over here it is not so prevalent. Go to Africa, and it is again more prevalent in heterosexuals.
So, I guess in some communities then most definately, it is still high in homosexual men, but in others it isn't.
It is not a gay disease, but it is ignorant and bias to suggest that it is no longer rampant and most frequent in the homosexuality community. You were implying that "it used to be" when 5/10 openly gay males will tell you they have no problem barebacking full well knowing the risks.
Just to be clear, In the United States alone, 85% of all male HIV transmissions in the united states are between men who have sex with men. (CDC STATS)
@BLUEFlSH7 Your numbers are incorrect. I suspect you pulled them out of your ass, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're a homophobic right-wing fanatic who stops looking as soon as he finds published numbers that support his pre-judged opinion. CDC's Sept 2010 report (make sure the URL starts at cdc.gov for reliability) puts NEW US HIV INFECTIONS BY GAY MEN AT 53% - Google it you'll find it within 15 seconds.
@BLUEFlSH7 Nope - the same 2010 CDC report states that of the people in the US who currently with HIV, 48% of them are gay men. Now, would you like to re-interpret after the fact again so that I can prove you wrong once more, or just come out with it and admit you're full of shit?
@StevenBee2 , spoon feeding this to you again on all fours~ 85% of **MALE*** patients (combined as of 06 when i made that comment a year ago) are gay, NOT including females, or heterosexual males. Set the kool aid down. It proves that gay men are beyond a reasonable doubt, more at risk then the original outbreak in the 1980's, and that aside from the African American community, is by far themost promiscuous group 18-40.Duh the point was Mcgee was watering down the HIV problem that still remains.
@BLUEFlSH7 Are you saying 85% of males with HIV are gay? According to cdc's 2004 report, (cdc. gov/hiv/surveillance/resources/reports/2004report/) 756,000 US men have HIV (cumulative to 2004); 441,000 got it from gay sex; 60,000 from straight sex; 176,000 from drugs. Nowhere close to 85%. Name your source. I will definitely agree with you that HIV transmission is far more common among homosexual men (especially calculated per capita); I'm just disputing your figures.
@BLUEFlSH7 By the way, I would like to point out that your entire argument is a logical fallacy anyways. Even *IF* you were correct (which you are not) that 85% of USA HIV spread is between gay men.... so what? What does that prove? Nothing. It's a statistic. Disease, Injury & illness affect people differently based on different variables. >50% of toddlers who drown are from pools - should we outlaw pools? 98% of Americans w/ sickle cell anemia are black... should we stop being black?
@BLUEFlSH7 AIDS is more prevalent among gay men because of the sexual behavior they engage in. They have a right to their lifestyle. But they need to be careful, the same goes with driving a car, drug use, diet, alcohol. etc. Play with fire and you'll eventually get burned. You can't have it both ways.
It annoys me when other people assume I like the male organ.
