I read that in the japenese version of this game, instead of getting red coins, you have to retrieve the book. And in the english version, the door that blocks the book says something in japenese when translated to it says "You have no life, signed Shigeru Miyamoto"

you can get tha book by using tha hover feature on your fludd and going through tha top but you have to keep it in one area which is very hard and i have yet to accomplish this and no longer own tha game :(

The book is actually from the Japanese version of the game. What happens is the old man tells you to go get his book for you as a mission and if you do he rewards you with a shine sprite.

now when super mario sunshine came out in china they put the book in that level for the gamers to get.

but when it got to america and the u.k

they decided that the book was too easy to get for the amreaican gamers and uk gamers

so they put a door there so no one can get the book now the level was to get the book and give it to the old man but like above they though it was easy and put the door there so they replaced the book with the red coin challnge
