at O.Z we don't advocate a pushup during this movement. Adding the pushup adds isolation to an otherwise full-body movement. It makes the push-up the limiting factor for doing lots and lots of these. There is so much good full-body exercise with a burpee we hate to be limited by a portion of it's movement. Besides, if looking at work accomplished it is the same. That's just as good or better. I suggest building your way to 100 of these over time for time!
Good job JP! I've obviously not be taught the standard correctly! What are your thoughts on not doing a pushup when you're on the floor? I would also love to know some guidelines for how many you might be able to do of these. I can do 15 (with pushup!) on a good day but that leaves me completely maxed out heart rate and breathing! I'm probably around the intermediate level of fitness for my age (nearly 50). Hope you don;t mind all the questions! I love learning more about fitness! Thanks.
