@Rhonerin Actually many of the cannons even the smooth bore cannons used in the Civil War were very accurate for the time, they had sights that could adjust the the range accuratley. Most favored the 12 pounder Napoleon because it was accurate, reliable, and also great for close range because it could fire canister or grape shot aswell.
@andrewwatson39 When they film movies, they need to simulate recoil!!! Most movies don't, I didn't know until fairly recently, that these cannons did so much recoil! I went to Getty'sburge in 98', these cannons are pretty solid and heavy. That recoil sorta puts new perspective to it!
