Russia would have been conquered faster if Britain hadn't held Germany off for so long in the Battle of Britain and if D-Day hadn't have happened. The 'We shall fight on the beaches...we shall never surrender.." speech was NEVER said by Churchill. It was said by a radio personality who imitated him....look it up. Churchill was sick at the time. Although, it was inspirational.

He,(Churchill) was in his sixties during WW2,i read that he did not have an alcohol problem,i think in this PC world,that drinking is now not acceptable,but his speech was slurred,because he had an impediment,called "cluttering" I just wish we had leaders like him today,,but that era has gone forever.

Yes,he most certainly was'nt perfect,he made mistakes.Gallipoli probably his worst.But it's easy,in hindsite,to critisize.I think he was the right person,at the right time in WW2 to lead the UK.But what a character.I just like his strong will.we dont seem to have people like him anymore.

Churchill led our country to victory in it's time of desperate need, when Britain was being invaded by Hitler. Had our country been defeated, I doubt America or Russia could have stopped Hitler. Churchill saved not just Britain, but the world. Sure, the Americans and Russians and the others claim to be the saviours, but it was definitely Churchill!

Russia having the #1 military of all allies at WWII their victory at Stalingrad in 1943 was "THE turning point of the war", the bloodiest battle and the clincher, victory a formality now.

Maybe but we played a bigger part in the war than the USA. We fought from 1939, USA from 1941. Until 1941, we stood alone against Hitler and the Axis.

I hope you don't think for one minute that the USofA made all the difference. The only difference that Britain and the USofA made was that the Iron Curtain came down where it did instead of on the English Channel Coast. the USSR had Germany beaten without a British or American soldier in France. Also don't forget that it was Hitler who declared war on the US and if he hadn't they would have stayed out of it and gone off to defeat the Japs - who never had a chance anyway.

Stupid bloody American, when will you learn? Neither of the main allies (USSR, Britain and USA) would have won the war without each other. Russia would have been conquered faster if Britain hadn't held Germany off for so long in the Battle of Britain and if D-Day hadn't have happened. Britain wouldn't have been able to take on Germany without American and Russian support, and America couldn't take on Germany and Japan without Britain's support. I hate the arrogance of Americans.

British concentration camps in South Africa were incompetently run internment camps, not extermination centres (where was the German Emily Hobhouse?). British "terror bombing" of Gemany(for such it was), was an answer not only to the terror bombing of Rotterdam, London, Warsaw, Coventry etc. but also to the frightful murders of civilians all over Europe by German and Quisling troops.
