Just curious what the setup on that motor is. I'm sure there is a turbo involved...what else is under that hood? I have my own 02 GT that I'm trying to build and a parts list would be great!

@2889joeracer well they are a lot torquier which means even with only 668rwhp it canruns 9's. I have seen 03 cobras with that much power only running tens with a lot of suspension work done. The 4r70w (very strong transmission if built right) is also likes the lower power band of the 2v over the high reving 4v's.
@NitroGadvRules WHAT are you talking about? They like the "lower power band" of a 2V over the high revving 4V? Stock cammed 03-04 Mach 1s make more low-end torque than a stock 2V could ever dream of. You've seen 03 Cobras with that much power running 10s because their setup and race weight sucked. Tons of 600 rwhp Cobras flirting with 8s, and the 4R70W LOVES the 4V.
@LieKiller automatic mach 1's aren't exactly easy to come by and going through all the trouble of a manual to auto swap is a major pain in the ass. In contrast automatic gt's are very common.
@NitroGadvRules Manual valve body makes and a B&M ratchet shifter makes auto swaps cake. Even the pedal arrangement isn't much of an obstacle because you don't actually need to swap pedals.
@hugoloves2spooge If its set up like my cousins stang, hes using a 2step. Depending on the rpms where the turbo starts spooling, you set the 2step 500rpms highter than that and launch for the moon.

Ur gonna need about 700-800 hp to smoke that R1, and you won't get it with the stock block unless you send it to livernois to be built or you can just buy one of their shortblocks that can handle 1000 hp, get some seriously worked heads and 25 lbs of boost and you will see that 700 hp easily but you better plan on gettin the tranny and diff built to handle it along with some subframe work cuz the torque will twist ur ride man, good luck!
i just recently bought a 99 cobra with a helion turbo making 28psi and 723rwhp. $33k. Still cant beat the r1 but his gixxer 600 didnt fair too well, took him by 1-2 car links!!!
@tebone626 What's your thoughts on the 4R70W? I have one in my Thunderbird and it SEEMS to be reliable for the v6. How are they for the v8, can they handle the additional horsepower and torque?
@tebone626 I think its funny how instead of swapping for a completely transmission that you can just upgrade the stock one and pull off runs like this. Mustangs all around are very underrated. Congratulations on the run keep up the good work.

Most guys with turbos start building boost before they trigger the tree, so how did you build boost so fast off the line? transbrake/2 step?
