  • The ktm 495 is still the fastest stupid not the kx . Get your stuff right

  • i have what is left of a KTM 495.....happy to sell parts

  • nice bike,I didn't know it was that fast.

  • @82coxy ACTUALLY the kx is the fastest that bike you saw is COMPLETLY stock, stock motor stock gearing stock suspension the only thing they changed was the handle bars and they lowered it a bit but its still the stock suspension so go do some more research because you dont know shit about bikes

  • Nice bike. But will it blend?

  • @offroaderkid LOL

  • @jensethellis Sorry to tell you but the kx500 is the fastest mx bike EVER made and it holds the CURRENT record of 125.8mph so everyone who thinks the ktm495 still holds the record go do some research this FALSE info about the ktm is fucking pissing me off you do know were in 2011 not 1981 anymore

  • @cobnutts the ktm still holds the record for fastest unmodified dirt bike, have you seen the picture of the kx your going on about you can't class that as a dirtbike anymore, if you did a jump on that it would fall apart.

  • I CAN GET PARTS....

    HOW MUCH ???

  • that is one beast bike

  • The KTM495 ran like a raped ape! #127 actually means something! DIRT BIKE had a kick axe test article on the KTM 495! It is well worthsearching for if you haven't already read it..

  • Missile Command!

  • damn man y would you sell that in a few years when they start sayin the yz450f is the best you can shut them up and show people that 2 strokes will always win :(

  • cool bike! i love it

  • love all the people that hate on this thing... The engine on these is superb but i would still prefer the 81 or 83 maico 490 as a whole, and good luck if your restoring an older ktm i bought one of these as a basket case but could never piece enough parts together, still one of the top 500 class bikes ever made though! way better than anything japan ever made in the 500 class

  • where is it and how much do you want for it?

  • i wouldnt want a dirtbike that every part for it is rare

  • real nice bike you have /had there, very very fast bikes, got a complete 83 motor sitting in my loft, waiting for a blown bike to turn up on ebay, lol these ktm495's would/will piss all over my 85 yz490 :)

  • rated 56 horsepower when they came out. miss those days and my dirtbike mags

  • How much and where at ? Sounds like the Bearing Reaper

is having a party in the crankcase ?

  • Oh and yes, posibly the worst dirt bike ever

  • QUE RELIQUIA SE FOSSE MINHA TAVA PENDURADA KAKAKAKAKAKAKA

  • i bet the suspension on this is shit

  • how much?

  • dayum i want that

  • KILLER!!! I had the MC5 250! Keep it!

  • Beautiful! One of my favorite all time dirt bikes. Great looking and scary fast. These babies were pricey in their day. Maybe John Finkeldey would be interested. Bonus points if you know who he is.

  • ive ridden a couple of these they are fucking quik they are bloody dangerous given the braking technology of that year

  • its not the fastest that peice of shit is air cooled i got a cr500 two stroke with power valves and it goes a fuck of alot faster than 123kmh its not the fastest production dirtbike the cr500 and kx500 are

  • @michelservent Its a 123 MPH. Lot different then 123 kmh.

  • @michelservent honda and kawasaki are the worlds shitiest bikes ever be a man and ride a fuckin ktm ass hole.

  • @199dood yes that is why there are more people buying hondas and kaws because they sre shitty,

  • @michelservent he said miles per hour so it is nearly 200kph

  • @michelservent a cr500 does not have a topspeed greater than 123kmt anyway...

  • how much?

  • dont dooo it!!!!!!!

  • how much r u saleing it for

  • i had one of this same year and everything.but throttle got stuck in 3rd gear going atleast 80mph slammed just about everything in my way..last time i got back on that bike.and another thing is that i rode one of these and saw a 85 cr500r run and the cr500 is by far a superior bike

  • y r u selling dat thing man it probably wil kick most new bikes asses

  • quite old

  • Thats a very nice bike man!!!!!!!!

  • i like how it starts first kick....throttle is very responsive....very nice bike wish i could buy it.

  • this will beat a cr 500 i seen it because i rode it the 500 that is.

  • this IS my favourite KTM year, being a long time Kwaka fan, it just so happen to have similar KX style rear plastics of 82,83 & ( 84 big bore only) kx's..wonder if that influenced my opinion some what ? , but yeah those 83 ktm's were great, lovged the Maico spider too ...arrr hell, i loved everything from 82 - 84

  • hes right it is as it has a low compression so the engine can run faster at high speed and revs but comes at a price low down power at slower speed

  • Comment removed

  • You sound like a South-African.

  • Doode, that head on that thing is as big as my gas tank. On my bike. But really nice bike how much for it.

  • KTM mx 500 is faster than this thing, but thats a brute thing but still KTM rocks and it aint drag racers or dune bikes, i got my own 125 soon from 2009

  • this is the fastest one. period. not the mx500 :P

  • man those things are rare!!

  • i wouldnt be sellin that if i were u!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice! it looks in great shape

  • cool I had one back In the day

  • how much for this bike

  • how much for it??????

  • just not enough room to enjoy the power

  • not daft, parts very easy to find but far too expensive, but bike has soft suspension, stupid leaking air forks , very flimpsy self destructing frame, i own 2 of them, cheap nasty junk, my old kx 500 is miles faster through the gears and top end, no compettion from the ktm, but each to their own i suppose, have modified both mine to twin shock, drum front wheel and standard none air forks, junked the bolt-on sub frame to accomodate the shocks, much better now

  • they are a bundle, use an ancient rotax engine, unreliable, naff suspension, too heavy and parts cost a fortune, buy japanese, much better

  • You're daft. The only problem with an old KTM (which is a big one) is that you can't get parts for them. There's another guy on YT trying to restore a 495 and he's been waiting on a particular part for more than a year now. But, the KTM 495 is renowned as the only bike to out-run a 490 Maico and still holds the record for the fastest production motocross bike in terms of flat-out top speed.

That said, I would much rather have a Maico or Husqvarna first, because of the parts thing.

  • Yeah it is fast dude, but I still like the Maico 490 for Moto-X. The KTM is more like a drag racer or rather sand dunes bike.

  • @JETZcorp what's the top speed??

  • @kibZ28 Well, first I should point out that I was wrong, and that a much newer KX500 beat the '81 495's record (by a hair.) The '82 and '83 KTMs were a little more radical, though.

When they did the record attempt, they put the highest sprockets they could find, but still had power left over so they also changed a transmission gear, for a final top speed of 123-point-something miles per hour on a salt flat. However, I suspect that if a KX500 can beat that, so will a geared-up Sand Spider.

  • what is he selling it for i would like it for when i get bigger

  • The 123 mph seller was referring to is a article back in 1981 when Dirt Bike magazine modified an "1981" KTM 495 to run high speed on a dry lake bed. The rider was Rod Bush and the best recorded time was over 123 mph. I have the article, and an 1981 KTM 495. I doubt this bike would go much faster than 80 mph though.

  • I read the artical back when it was published, it claimed a top speed of 130mph.

  • It was only 123.75 I have the issue.

  • No worries. The artical i read was in Australian Dirt Bike magazine. Awesome looking bike though...i want one!!! Will swap Honda RS ..lol.

  • I would sell you mine, but I think the shipping would be very expensive from the east coast of USA

  • What sort of money could i expect to pay for an '83 KTM?

  • A bike like this, maybe 1500 usd. A twin shock 1981 maybe double that.

  • Thanks mate....

  • that things is a peice of shit ill give u 50 cents for that and it does not go 123 my ass go fukc ur seves

  • your fucking stupid do some research. thats coming from a "polaris rider" lol hooked on phonics might help with your grammer by the way.

  • your a piece of shit polaris!

  • shut the fuck up, research your dumb arse, then come back to us.

  • Nice bike. How much did it sell for? Or do you still have it?Easily worth more than twice what it sold for new. Would 4 grand buy it? I'd take this over any cr500.

  • id pay like $900 - $1000 for that if u cud get it to england lol

  • ill give you $250.00 for it but it has to be shipped and ill pay for the shipping to if u could just carry it to the shipping doc and send it

  • i think the guy already sold it and it wasnt for a measly 250.00 lol

  • yepp, originated in Mattighofen, Austria

that's what the M stands for

  • yeep, Kronreif Trunkenpolz Mattighoffen

  • Man, I'd KILL for one of those! Still got it? I ride a KTM 200 now, but O'd LOVE to have a big bore.

  • 123 MPH HOLLY SHIT DUDE!!!!

  • One word... Awesome!

  • That bike sounds awesome man. Is KTM Japanese?

  • I believe that KTM was the first Motocross bike to go Mono shock in the back as well as being the fastest.

  • First bike was Yamaha which used the mono shock

  • First bike with linked single shock was 1980 KX's

  • is it still for sale

  • what size are the sprockets? front ,and rear

  • WoW so many old time memories on these grreat bike well thay dont make em like they use to

  • The 1981 was clocked at 123 MPH What they mean by stock is they didn't tune the engine, however they did change the rear sprockets as well as one of the gears So out of the box it doesn't do 123mph The 1983 is a heavier model, plus it has reeds the 81 was a simpler piston port They say that they doubt the 82 would be able to do it and the 83 was a heavier bike The 84 was toned down too much and lost HP The 81 could have gone faster if they were able to gear it taller and have more room they said

  • the rear suspension was too soft...wasnt it?

  • fukin sick, too bad u sold it, ill never get rid of my 495

  • that bike is sick-nasty!

  • I rode an 82 model my friend purchaced new at MSR in Riverside - it was a beast - its engine is a over square design - meaning the piston is larger than the stroke - it makes for a high rpm locomotive type power that will punish you if dont respect it.

  • 123 mph on a crosser thats fucking rediculous

  • hay i saw that you had a cr 500 and i was wondrering where do you get new plastics for them because i have a 97 and i cant find plastics for it

  • nice bike
