Just a note. The boats in Rio had the foil on the front, but not much was done to lift the back. This allowed for the reduction of water on the boat bottom and not problems with the engine coming out of the water.
Back in 1984 while in Rio (Brazil) it seemed like every water taxi was a hydrofoil. Now with the gas crunch perhaps these energy efficient boats will start hitting the market again.
I built one back in 1998.
Front lifted out perfectly
But could never get the back out of the water.
i think my surface finish on the back foils was not good enough.
Did you have any problems?
Still have the plans and would build another one if I ever get time.
