  • darn,nature u scary! read discription

  • if thinking of getting a carnivorous plant

which one should i get? im thinking either a sundew or a pitcher plant but i dont know

  • @Ajitat1321 depending on your location flytraps and non-tropical pitcher plants can be grown outdoors. Sundews are tropical and need to be grown inside.

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!!!!!!!

  • Your plants are so gorgeous! I live in Texas, so the best I can get away with is Vincas, not even a carnivore....Oh how I wish for better temp.

  • Well...I guess that's facinating but ... wudn´t it just be easier too stick a fly up there?

  • Cobra Lilys are rare plants. Such as Venas Fly- Traps and bladder worts and others.

  • @SuperLPSQueen You can get Venus Fly Traps at the Franklin Inst. if you live in P.A :D

  • Have you ever stuff your hand or finger in there?

  • Is this a plant or an animal? O.o

  • @tanyamcmasterxXx A carnivorous plant, like the Venus fly trap. They trap and digest animals and bugs usually because the soil around them lacks nitrogen or some other nutrient.

  • @ProfessorsApprentice Thanks for telling me (:

  • Wow, fascinating, thank you for this informative look at some of life's interesting mysteries.

  • these plants are from morrowind lolz

  • I mean, seriously, LOOK AT THESE PLANTS!

They are CLEARLY OF ALIEN ORIGIN #LOL

  • I found this video quite informative and fascinating. I like all of the videos on carnivore plants, please keep posting.

  • @hitideaquariums i don't remember asking your opinion

  • @Piranhaboy01

    i liked it. good stuff

  • @Piranhaboy01 i belive us ir.. just fucked his shit up. LOL

  • @Piranhaboy01 You have the coolest plants ever! Do you keep these all in your back yard?

  • @Piranhaboy01 Seriously? You put your video up on Youtube with an open comments section - OF COURSE you asked for his/her opinion! That's the whole point of the comments section!?!?!

  • stil didnt ASK your opignion he didnt ask for mine but he let me

  • @BloatedSensations He didn't ask for your opinion either.

  • @ImprezaImpresser Yeah, actually. He did. He, of his own free will, posted his video publicly with an open comment section. That is an invitation for people to comment. If he didn't want comments, he didn't have to upload the video, or he could have disabled commenting. He didn't do either of those things, so he invited open commenting. I doubt very much he was ignorant of this when he posted his video. ...unless he's just incredibly stupid.

  • @BloatedSensations Let's remember that asking for an opinion and allowing someone to express an opinion are two very different things.

  • @cowboyweightlifter Semantics. In terms of what is a reasonable response to someone then offering their opinion, no they're not. They're both effectively the same thing. Whether you ask for an opinion directly, or willfully engage in an activity where you know the offering of opinion is encouraged, to then respond to the offering of such an opinion with chastisement toward someone for doing just that, both are equally unreasonable responses.

  • @BloatedSensations just because someone has the ability to write a comment doesn't mean they automatically get to be a douche.

  • @SillyLitleGirl If you take morality away from life anyone can get to do anything, this Is what many people now use the internet for.

  • @Piranhaboy01 pwnd!!!! XD

  • @hitideaquariums sure, boring if you have ADHD, and no interest in science.

  • @hitideaquariums boom. you're out.

  • @hitideaquariums oohh hoow do u feel? u gunna cry?

  • @hitideaquariums Youtube isnt just FUN its Videos, all genres of vids. Learn to get it right next time.

  • If I saw this plant with a hummingbird inside I would sit there for a minute or so thinking what should I do, help the bird or let it die???

  • Lol looks weird but when i read and understand the feeding behavior it makes become cooler and it feeds like the pitcher plant when the prey falls in

  • "its very juicy and wet up there." kekeke

    that's what she said.

  • the plant gets the name from the shape of it and the leave that stick out that look s like a tongue and obviosly he didnt mean for a bird to be in it

  • i didnt know there was a cobra lily plant.... im not into plants much... but this is truly fascinating :D

  • You people are overly dramatic sheesh... this is why i hate coming to videos like these cause you people dunno how to comment without using some form of crap ass drama.. bunch of whiny ass retards... grow the fuck up..

  • lol

  • It could be much bigger and with gold nuggets or cash instead of nectar to catch "larger prey"

  • LOL

im not so sure... I think it looks more like a nose >_>

  • Thank you for sharing. I'm taking a minor in what you might call abnormal botany; carnivorous plants, toxin/poison producing plants, and various desert dwelling plants (mostly cam and C4 but that's as boring as it gets). It's great that you're making these amazing plants more accessible.

  • chingy chongo~

  • I didn't understand a word you said, and maybe it's just me, but I never saw how the plant traps...

  • @tummielvr that's not the first time I heard that XD ... I outlined the mechanism in the description.

Perhaps I should add captioning... :P

  • @Piranhaboy01 are you Irish? it sounds like an American accent but a little different, maybe that's why it's a little hard to understand?

  • @Piranhaboy01 amazing plant

  • @tummielvr turn up the volume

  • @tummielvr you should learn English. am not a native speaker and i understood everything he said.

  • do you know if i could grow one of theese in illinois? i am succesful at averything else thats common in cps: vft, purple pitcher, reg pitcher, and nepenthes and a sundew. so do you have to keep the soil cool? if so, how cool?

  • @theamazingplant2 sorry for missing this... you will definitely have to keep the substrate cool. I think they are hard to grow in even typical CP substrate. Try sphagnum moss (dead is fine), cool water EVERY DAY (absolutely vital!!), and place in partial shade. They don't need direct sun all day like most other CPs. The bigger the pot, the better it is to keep the root mass cool.

  • @Piranhaboy01 okay. i usually grow most of my cps in spaghnum anyway. ill probably grow it under a tree and water it with ice water

  • Oh this is so useful for what im doing

  • sad you got 6 thumbs down for a j/k.... well ill help you out and give ya a thumbs up :D

  • yeah I can't even remeber what I wrote

    probebly something racist or sexual

    comment!

well whatever call me an asshole if you like ;)

I only say my opinion and if you don't like it fine! but why do everyone take Internet

soo serious? it is just a cyber world?

you know not a big deal!

  • I didn't read what you said, so I don't know if it's offensive or not, but that fact that you are on the Internet shouldn't matter. Offensive is offensive, no matter where you say it....

  • I hate those plants! I once went to water it and there was a baby humming bird in it :(

  • The law of nature =)

  • aww...

  • @TheLenism sad

  • @TheLenism seriously!!!.. i heard of frogs but this is the first bird. But it makes perfect sense with a large trap. Was the bird still alive?

  • so why didn't you save it

  • @TheLenism That's so sad!!! =/ I can't believe this plant can get a humming bird. There's a bird nest in my backyard I have to protect from my dog and it's eggs from my Filipino dad.

  • @rbladeJOJO Grabe! Gusto niyang itlog ng humming bird!?

  • @rbladeJOJO why ? what so bad about Filipino dads ? XD

  • @rbladeJOJO HAHAha Way to fight heritage!!!!!!!

  • @rbladeJOJO dude that's racist! what would your filipino dad do to those eggs?

  • @smbz821 I don't think he is being racist. After all, he is from the same race. I have a friend who's from Philippine and she once told me that some parts do eat some exotic stuff. One time ornithologist were looking for the most rarest species of bird that supposedly inhabit in this small island(I can't remember which part) for months, and when they finally found it, it wasn't alive; it was on stove. lol

  • @rbladeJOJO hahah im filipino i think he's gonna use it as a food called ballot

  • @rbladeJOJO Galing! Funniest comment ever!

  • @TheLenism wow...thats just wrong and horriable. a freaking bird :"C

  • @TheKristinMarie - I suppose its nature :/ poor bird was just looking for nectar to feed on and couldn't tell safe nectar from CP trap and fell right in. I dont think the plant chooses who to target ^^"" sadly. I do feel bad for the bird though, but sadly, such is nature :/

  • @TheLenism awesome i hate birds there annoying but what did you do did you help it or just let it die?

  • @codegeassownage if it were me i would probabaly let it slide once to see what would happen and film it next time definitely a no no

  • @codegeassownage It's not cool man.... They're birds! Only dumb birds are mocking birds... Wakin me up in the morning at 4:30... I found the bird dead D:

  • @TheLenism i would have dropped a moltov on the plant, or cut its trap open with a knife and got the bird if it was still alive.

  • Such a beautiful and clever plant! I really want one. I get to hot of summers though... MAbey if I just use a huge pot so it will take longer for soil to heat up...

  • what does it mean by windows inside it to fool the insects to thinking theres a exit?

  • the top part of the plant allows more light than the lower part. and just like how any bug keep flying towards a closed window, the bug will remain thinking there's an exit while its actually trapped.

  • the windows are the little white spot all ove the plant, they let the light through which lets the insect think that its all open and they can get out

  • The plant allows alot of light in through the skin of the top, which the insect thinks is an exit.

  • These plants are all so amazing. Out of the sheer movement speed, the Venus Flytrap is the most interesting, but I love the windows on the Cobra.

    Thanks for all the uploads.

  • LOL i typed in marijuana n this popped up. oh n cool plant thingy i want a giant so it could east my lil bro

  • dam dont kill your bother.... just get him high niga

  • Great video, i wondered how those plants worked :)

  • i`m growing 5 carnivorous plants and it`s a venus flytrap,sundew,pitcher,trumpet,and most inportantly,crobra plant

  • where do you get sundews cobra lilies and a trumpet

  • just go on google shopping and type it in.

  • You can also Google "Creation Evidence Museum" to read about the optimizing effect that compressed oxygen and UV filtered light have on all kinds of creatures...

  • Piranhaboy01:

An interesting experiment you might want to try could yield monster-size carnivorous plants- growing them with compressed C02 and UV filtered sunlight. Google "Kei Mori" and "Sonic Bloom" to read two amazing stories...

  • That's another aweosme Carnivorous Plant! but what are the windows like, what are they made of?

  • They are made of the leaf itself. There are small sections called fenestrations where there is absolutely no color produced and the light can freely pass through. It's very confusing for the insect as it's the brightest part of the plant and the prey thinks the exit is somewhere.

  • uuuurrrr the thingy has vanes!

  • cant they go up there get blinded and fall back out the hole they came in?

  • They could but the windows that allow in light offering a false excape are litteraly fataly confusing.

  • i thought they were really hard to grow, but LOOK AT YOURS!! IT IS GORGEOUS!

  • they are very hard to grow. hes just pro

  • Thats one handsome plant you've got there... amazing video

  • is it hard to grow em when they are seeds? how long did it took it to grow

  • Brutally hard... I've started the tiny ones about two years ago, at least. They need super clean live moss and cool conditions... and that's just to get them started. These conditions need to be maintained as long as you have the plant. THEN it takes years to actually SEE the tiny plant amongst the moss... Buy a mature one, if possible unless you have the perfect conditions.

  • can a spider make a web in that hole?

  • I have yet to see one but I guess they should be able to.

  • quiero una de esas¡¡¡ i need it... but it´s so impossible of get¡¡¡¡

  • Very hard to get - and grow in most areas!

  • Go on the website Hortus Botanicus and they have them for 28$ Makesure they will work for your climate first though.

  • That is a beautiful specimen.

  • if i put my hand in the stuff in it 4 an hour or so, would it eat my hand???

  • no you would have to leave your hand in there for much much longer.

  • No... you must have a small hand! You would have to leave it much longer for any effect and the palnt would probly die or atleast the individual tube in the attempt.
