Most ppl in ROH cant cut a good promo. But I think Sweeny can when he really tries and 2 guys arent talkin rite beside him. Roh makes up for the lack of good promos by puttin on the best damn wrestling in the world period. Nice turn by Aries as well.

Damn, can ANYBODY in ROH cut a decent promo? Between Sweeney's boys and the atrocity that is Roderick Strong, you're looking at indy bush league promos. It does look like Gunner Scott's time in WWE served him well though. Not ripping on ROH mind you - it's a great niche product. But even in a wrestling-focused promotion, you need to cut solid believable promos and few of these guys can do it!

I new it, I said a few weeks back when Black broke Aries's nose that Aries heel turn was coming. Everyone said that Age of the Fall was done this is the Genesis of a new Age (of the fall). And if Jimmy and Aries can get on the same page theres no one in ring of honour who can stop them. Not Necro or Black and definetly not Daizy Haze. 2009 is gonna be a great year for ROH and AOTF.

Also Element, what do you mean that Tyler has "star quality" and Omega and King don't? Both Omega and King OOZE charisma to where Tyler just has a good physique and some fancy (aped) moves. Tyler is basically just a good athlete with some cool moves and a good look and he can be led by the best to great matches. That's not a great wrestler. A great wrestler leads others to great matches, like Danielson for example or McGuinness or Jacobs (Jacobs fucking understands psychology).

I think Black is more than what you said. A valid criticism of Black isn't he hasn't found himself on the microphone yet, maybe every now and again he will come up with a witty line but thats not finding your voice, thats not talking people into the seats. I know its hard to do but that is a clear advantage of bringing in more veterans they can teach the one thing that matters most in wrestling the ability to make the fans care about YOU not just your matches.

He's good, but wrestling is a hell of a lot more than just some cool (AJ Styles aping) moves and a decent physique, which is really all he has going for him. He's still about 2 years from World Title material. The champ has to be able to talk and lead other people to great matches. I mean, can you imagine Black making lower card guys look good like Dragon, Joe, Nigel, Punk, and Gibson did?

Yes I'm sure we all understand that there is more to wrestling than that. I'm contending he has more than that. Joe, Punk, Danielson, Nigel, and Gibson, no. But thats a pretty high measuring stick. I have only seen five matches involving Tyler Black and every match I saw there was a hell of lot going on in it. Maybe you have seen more so I am not saying your wrong necessarily if he relies only on highspots, but I have seen in him the capability to do more.

No, he has the capability to be LED to do more. think about it, his great matches have been against who? Dragon, Nigel, and Aries, if you can't have good matches with them, you are totally worthless. Black is good, but I have yet to see him elevate another guy, cut a good promo, or have something about him that I care about. Right now he's the equivelant of Shelton Benjamin in '06, a great athlete who can be led to a great match but he's not complete yet.

Elementman, no, flyers aren't always led. You're not understanding. See, the best flyers know when to do stuff. Black realy doesn't, his pele looks like shit and he really should stop, and he doesn't have much in ring charisma, at least not as a heel I have yet to see him as a face. His promos sound rehearsed and painfully awkward. He's a great athlete (not as good as people think I assure you) but he has a lot to learn. A good champions makes people, Tyler Black can't do that yet.

i agree but i think that adam pearce as booker is kinda watering things down a bit. i mean, its still a great product but shorter matches + count outs + more mic work does not necessarily = great wrestling. great wrestlers paired with other great wrestlers in a good match that doesnt have to end after 10-15 minutes is what got me into ROH.

Yea but having every match being straight up wrestling (which they weren't with Gabe,with Gabe it was spotfests) don't sell. I don't care how many cool moves are in a match, that's not what makes a good match. Take the Dragon Gate 6 man tag, that is nowhere near a 5 star match, nowhere close. Pearce has put emotion and characters back into ROH, which is what was severely needed.

i kinda see that and i totally get where he's trying to go with the character development but in the end i still feel like things are being confined but the time limits and the shorter shows and if you're gonna add things like that then i'd rather see another match added than a total of at least 20 minutes worth of mic work. i guess i'm just worried that they're gonna go the way of TNA or something along those lines.

time limits and shorter shows make things mean more. People say that they feel insulted by the characters like Grizzly, I was insulted by the Briscoes no selling a spike and a million headdrops a night. The matches are actually better because they don't overstay their welcome and their main events are better because you don't see 200 brainbusters before Aries does his to lessen it. Believe it or not, ROH is closer to it's 04-06 form now than it was 6 months ago.
