Anyone have any idea where the goose is now ? I have not seen or heard about where it went in a few years. It was last seen on the east coast, painted blue with yellow..
hahaha I am pissed and I told my mate that there was a couple of shows called scarecrow and misses king and remington and steel and a show called something of the golden monkey... i found the other two shows pretty quickly but to find this one is gold dust ..... cheers
As I remember at the end of the pilot episode the large statue of the gold monkey is found by someone but it is gaurded by monkeys and it never shows what happens after that.
when I was a kid growing up in san diego I used to love watching this. I remeber the main character used to take out the glass eye of his dog and put it back at least every episode.
They don't make fun shows like this and the other 80's stuff any more. This new generation will be stuck with memories of "so you think you can dance" and they will be none the wiser of how ripped off they are.
That's why you've got to share it around! I'm 19 years old, and I grew up on re-runs of Mission Impossible and MASH. Now I'm finding shows like Gold Monkey and it's on my birthday list. I try to let all my friends know about the great shows from before our time.
Of course I knew it. Everyone knew it. How could you not know? Raiders was huge at the time and TV networks always have and always will try to cash in on the latest Hollywood movie trends. Star wars begat battlestar galactica, blue thunder begat airwolf etc, etc.
the complete season is available all over the net. 22 episodes. This was my favourite show, and blows tv today away. "reality" tv..F%#$%@ that!! Gold Monkey was way ahead of its time, and cost too much to produce, as they wanted a realistic feel to the show. ABC execs saw ratings climbing towards the end of the first season, but axed it. I was 12, and this show was very inspiring. Now I can only dream of a more simple, but creative era of tv and film, the 80's. Man, gettin old sucks!!
@bodizone1 The truth has never been written so true! We are the same age and what a excellent era that have lived ... America's True golden age: 1971-1985.
Now this was a fun show and enjoyed it way back when (Jack the one-eyed pup losing his eye/wearing a patch is what I remember the most). It's time to get this released on DVD already please.
I watched this when I was a kid too and LOVED it! When will it be out on DVD?!?!?! I keep watching and waiting for it, but I still haven't seen it on DVD.
I remember sitting down to watch this in the uk as a young teenager. I had quite forgotten it until this reminded me. A pity it only ran for such a short while.
My brother just sent me this and he has been the only other person I know who remembers this show. I am so glad that other people enjoyed and remember it too. Thanks for posting!
wow talk about nostalgia trips. I dont know why but this show popped into my head the other day. Is it even aired on tv in reruns anymore? I remember watching this all the time when I was a kid (I think I was 9 at the time). Funny now because the star of the show is on 7th heaven now lol. what a turnaround!
Oh my God, thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!! I really didn't think I'd be able to find this on here. I used to love Jake, I watched this when I was ten every Saturday night without fail while having my tea from the local chippy! Great memories, thankyou so much goldmonkeydotcom. I've been transported back to 1983!
Normally he did. The dog supposedly had a glass eye which Jake kept losing and thereby forcing the dog to wear an eye patch. A recurring theme throughout the short life of the show to get the glass eye back.
Amazing! I was addicted to this show as a 10 year old and Stephen Collins was my first HUGE crush. I dreamed all night of Jake Cutter! Thank you for these....what memories!
Corky was the name of the sidekick, I believe the dog's name might have been Jake. Like you I haven't seen this show in years and I don't have cable. It may still come on cable but I don't know. This show was tv's version of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Great Show. Both this and Raiders.
I never thought I would see anything about this show ever again. I used to watch it when I was 9 or 10 years old. THANK YOU for the memories of a short-lived, but welled rememberd show. Anyone remembers Whiz Kids, huh,huh anyone?!?

Back in the days when, after merging with V'Ger, the Rev Camden decided to be an Indy-like adventurer before settling down with that whale-scientist friend of Jim Kirk's......that Annie chick...
i´m from Mexico and this show was broadcasting in the tv here too, and i was very young, like 4 or 5 years old, i love it, i love Jack the dog with one eye. I hope somebody put this on DVD. I hope, i buy it if that happens. ¡Saludos!
Thanks! But why take all the time and effort to upload these scenes and not post a whole episode on daily motion or veoh. Universal will never get round to releasing this, until they see there is money in it.
Yeah, I remember that one too. Frank Buck (played by Bruce Boxleitner ) Both of these shows came out fast on the heels of 'Raiders' as did a very short lived TV show 'Casablanca' - The Gold Monkey was my favorite. It's hard for me to watch now, though.

Tales of the gold monkey and bring 'em back alive were a couple of dismal efforts made purely to cash in on the success of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Who would your cast picks be? Here are mine;
Jake Cutter (Paul Walker)
Corky (Jason Biggs)
Sarah Stickney-White (Jenna von Oy)
Bon Chance Louie (Simon MacCorkindale)
Rev. Willie Tenboom (W.K. Stratton)
Princess Koji (Lucy Liu)
Todo (Greg Watanabe)
Gushie (Balthazar Getty)
Jack, Jake's dog would probably be a Jackapuggle. That's a Jackabee/puggle mix.
wonderglory 3 years ago
Welll I like Lucy Lui... but I think i would prefer Ging Li. She is prettier...sexier.. and has a nasty princess bitch look to her!

This show was a perfect boy's show. A guy with a plane that could turn into a boat, a dog, a pretty girl, guns, and adventure.
You know what else is cool, that wouldn't happen today. They guy is actually smoking. Now, he'd be a villain or something stupid like that.
