  • older people dont buy music. the scumbags that manufacture it know the only way to make lotsa money is to sell stuff to teanagers. money big money ruined this country

  • No one has ever been a better romantic singer and this song is just over the top ..... his best in my oponion . The words ( can anybody help me ) and the voice immediately take you to a magical place where there is love , peace , joy and fun . When I hear this song I'm instantly walking through Paris with a lovely lady on my arm . May he sing forever .......

  • As a ballroom dancer, this is my all time favorite waltz tune.

  • am sure i've commented already but hey, this is a great performance. Encore Encore!!! :)

  • wow he is a great singer, i never realised when i was 8 ! Great voice

  • @spideraxis I completely agree with you, i only hope that one day we will get back to this type of song and singer and that i will live long enough to see it. I am lucky that i can go to a club where they can sometimes still get this type of singer, thank God

  • What a beautiful song, it never got the credit it deserves. Today we have to listen to rap crap, be told that is enlightened music, and watch American culture bring this country down to a subterranean level. This country went from the greatest to the dregs.

  • MAGNIFIQUE VOIX, PARFAITE CHANSON!

  • Very underrated.Magnificent voice...Makes you feel like your in the clouds...I remember my sister teaching me to dance e to this song back in thew 60's.. she use to make me put my feet on hers...what wonderful memories..

  • This song reminds me of when I was 9 or 10 years old...makes me feel safe and that everything is OK. Thanks Mom and Dad.

  • Everyone thinks the title of this song is "Les Bicyclettes De Belsize." Not so! The true title is: "Lady regrets her belt size." :)

  • for me the name of the song is - lady sinclair. you can call it as you wish

  • c est la perfection du chant

  • i love this song it soo lovely

  • just love it!

  • @missMinette1965 same here i love the song too

  • What a great song! I'm 45 and I loved this when I was in my teens.

  • @LeslieSteeg It's my favourite too.

  • just awesome

  • love this song ,reminds me of flying from manila to la on plane

  • I had to go all the way to Australia to hear this song which I loved as a child but had forgotten all about...it was just magical hearing it after so many years. Thanks for posting.

  • _Listen closely to the melody line / the chords / the instrumentation of this song.

The time signature is in ¾.

It is a real shame that most modern day music is perverted...with

nonsense melody lines / monotonous chords and stupid rhythm

patterms that sound like noise. ` ☺_

  • @c1n9r6v3 - yes, it's indeed a 'waltz'

  • when Englebert sang this back in the day, my sister and I used to think he was saying "Lady Saint Claire". Yes - we were dummies, but just kids....He was quite a gifted singer - and that dopey name made him easy to remember. That was back in the day when your mom played middle of the road AM radio when she drove you to school or took you on errands.....fun, cherished days of carefree childhood when we took life for granted and never thought we'd get older! Thanks, Ilansh, for the memory!

  • @MsJollycholly NO worries... Children are uninhibited in so many ways, they will fill in the blanks with their own version of lyrics and sing with conviction! My brother and I knew no Spanish when we sang "One ton of melon, I need that one ton of melon"..and that was our version of "Guantanamera"! :)

  • @MsJollycholly I used to think he was singing about Versailles , in France . LOL. Silly me.

  • Oh.. what a voice !

  • if your heart does not waltz to this, time to start saying hi to the daisies. Jones had a powerful sound but Engelbert had the voice! Fantastic, just wish I could have heard this live. Ahh well, made my day hearing it here, thanks for posting. Cheers to you all, Nick in London

  • I have a got a CD of the Engelbert Humperdink collection and it has this song and release me and his other hits

  • this is some ear-orgasm ...

  • 10 people are Tom Jones

  • The original version by Engelbert Humperdinck is the best. also try listening to the spanish version by that cute mexican flower Anacani.

  • Zijn mooiste hit wat mij betreft

  • engelbert is ever gree n a true superstar

  • Great song i love it!!!!!!!

  • One of his BEST songs EVER!

  • Simply beautiful, this tune was made for his voice alone.Cannot imagine anyone else pulling it off so effortlessly!!!

  • im dansing have to go!!!

  • Englebert and Tom Jones, they broke the mold when they made these two.

  • simply beautiful ...

  • very well indeed! people were more lovely and romantic those days... sigh.....

  • And we have c'rappers like Kanye West who cannot sing or play an instrument...and he's nominated for the Grammy's as a MUSICIAN?

  • @chewjfsh All these rappers are a bunch of .....oh never mind, I don't want to use bad language ...

  • @chewjfsh Unfortunately, my friend, Grammys are awarded based on record sales not always on the talent of the artists in question.

  • @chewjfsh Amazing how far we've lowered our standards in this country.

  • Lovely....Sounds VERY French, but actually written by a couple of Englishmen

    Les Reed and Barry Mason

  • tell me how many women loved to be romance to good music like this?

  • Its just amazing when great music and someone who can actually sing combine, unlike the synthesised sequenced music of today. Oh and don't forget the people that could actually play instruments in the band. Ahhhh the memories!

  • @dtempleton61 Come visit my channel of 700 playlists - they're made up of the great music you remember! The most outstanding orchestrations posted to youtube are my source material. The lists cover over 400 artists, 100 genres & every year since 1900. chuck

  • @chkjns We desperately need guys like you. Guys who are very knowledgable, have excellent taste, and want to preserve and perpetuate the kind of quality which is rarely evidenced today. Kudos.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone Thanks for the nice compliment, but . . .you didn't subscribe? Oh, the pain, the hurt, the utter anguish . . . .

There's a BBC documentary 'The Joy of easy listening where EH is prominently interviewed & talks about his friendship with Dean Martin. It's posted here, just search that title. chuck

  • i would love to go back to these times.

  • your right the music of today is garbage i recall all the good times when i would romance woman with all this kind of miusic that has meaning to it and the women love it which of i do too . womam of today dont know what this music means.

  • I loved this song when kids of my age thought it was so un-cool (I've just turned 50!). But I can now enjoy it, knowing I was right; It is still ethereally beautiful. Have any of you checked out the actual short film on yt. It's great, in a 60's sort of way.

  • @PEREZONTAL You said it perfectly. Oh, so true.

  • those were the days,so many memories

  • I played his cd for my Grams while she was in Hospice. She loved him so much. I miss her. <3

  • ..and another reason why I loved this song is that in the 60s I used to live in Belsize Park NW London!

  • mireille mathieus version is even better..........

  • Excellent sound quality ... this song just popped into my head from no where and here I am . I must pull my old vinyls out , . Thanks for posting . It was a favorite of mine back then .. and now too ! KC

    Jennie.

  • Wonderful!!!!!

  • beatiful song! one of my favorite song of Engel.........

  • C'est une chanson magnifique. Les années n'ont rien fait pour éroder la simplicité et l'authenticité de la signification.

  • What a BEAUTIFUL love song. I had this song at my wedding. Everybody danced!

  • Englebert sang this in his Brisbane concert last night and I fell in love with him and his amazing voice all over again

  • @choknob - Yes, he's good, isn't he? Then and now - probably the best ballad singer for many decades.

  • @choknob

    WHAT ?? Brisbane ? Last week ???

    Geezz.... i could have gone...

  • wOW thats right he did change his name as most do ,,lol.... but did you know that Tom JoNES also had TB as a child and was very sick

  • SORRY BUT HIS REAL NAME DORSEY GERSEY BUT AFTER HE WON THE TALENT CONTEST IN UK AND HAD A SINGING CONTRACT HIS NAME WAS THE CHANGED COS DORSEY GERSY DIDN,T SOUND GOOD FOR A SINGER OH BEFOR THE CONTEST HE WAS JUST CURED FOR TB WAY TO GO ENGELBERT

  • @localguy8 His real name was Arnold George Dorsey and in his early days he sang under the name of Gerry Dorsey because his friends started calling him this after seeing his impression of Jerry Lewis, when he performed in local Leicester venues, my home town, where I saw him often. He was the best then and he's still the best now.

He changed his name to Engelbert on the suggestion of Gordon Mills, his manager who was also manager of Tom Jones.

  • Please come back to Casino Niagara for an evening.Would love to see that soon...

  • Camenbert's shows were always different. He worked in his classics, some hip newer tunes and even danced and did great Jerry Lewis impressions.

But the time that I'll never forget was when one of his drunken fans started swinging at Engelbert. At first everyone in the audience laughed because we thought that it was part of the act until the band leader started dragging her off the stage while she rained blows on his head and shoulders.

  • i grew up with his beautiful voice and have always imitated his style of singing i love it so smooth and meaningful

  • moi lyubima pesen :)

  • HE WAS SOOO GORGEOUS!!! AND WHAT A VOICE. OMG

  • How Romantic!!!!!!

  • He was born in India and I notice that he has dark feature I'm wodering if he part Indian.

  • @dcrew2000 haha have you been to india? the indian sun can give you a permanent tan for the rest of your life.

  • @dcrew2000 We saw him every six or seven months in concert for years and his name is Arnold Dorsey. He says that he is Welsh like Tom Jones.

  • Did anyone know that Engelbert recorded this in a bathroom??? Read it in his book... Great Acoustics..

  • Don't we all hear this as "Lady St. Claire de Versailles?"

  • 8 people doesnt know the true meaning of TALENT and MUSIC

  • awesome song by one of the best..i rate this as one of his best songs..truly amazing singer

  • Ta piosenka Engelberta była zapisana w moim notesie obok Michaela Jacksona i Jackson Five oraz obok J.S. Bacha. Miałam wtedy 17 - 18 lat i było to około 1970 roku.

  • I love this video!! His voice is amazing!!!!!!!

  • "No audio tricks or tweeks required."

Uh, do your ears function? Can you not hear the massive amounts of reverb in which Engelbert's voice is drenched? News flash: That's an audio "tweak and trick", albeit a very old one.

  • I left my first wife (temporarily) in 1970 and this was playing as I left. We divorced years later and this always reminds me that I should not have gone back!

  • @YellowfinA10 you divorced years later so it wasn't meant to be-- In retrospect it's the smartest thing you ever did--You are happier now! And the music is as good as the day you heard it back in 1970 - music is constant ; People are very often not!

  • @cathode1990 Hindsight is a wonderful thing but good music is good music, whatever the circumstances. As you say, things have turned out well for me.

  • Love it. What a voice and a great song.

  • You cannot help but fall in love with this haunting, beautiful song. One of the best pieces of music even written. Engelbert does a beautiful job of singing it for us. Thank you so much!

  • It doesn't get better than this!

  • I think this is one of Engelbert's best songs,, it's so Magical,,, one of my all time favorites :)

  • yes nice song .but elvis is the king .

  • Beautiful; really captures the poignancy within the words; remembered when my sister and I had to leave Jamaica with our parents to live in the States; we were 15 and 16; so sad yet so hopeful.

  • I wasn't really an Engelbert fan in the late 60's, but have never forgotten this song, what a joy to rediscover it on Youtube; now aged 56 I'm a huge fan of both the song and the man. As my nephews would say - QUALITY!!

  • I Love This Song... Thank You For Posting It...:)

  • that was fantastic!!

  • Luv this song

  • Cupid lives in the hearts of the lovers, so does engelbert's melodies !!!

  • Immortal melodies, evergreen englebert very soulful very eternal singing !!!!

    thank you engelbert.......

  • Fantástico. Inesquecível.

    Obrigado.

    MGonçalves

  • i love him he is my idol

  • Beautiful song, but it hardly ever comes on any radio station.

  • I like this song, it's one of his best. I beleive it was used as the soundtrack to a short 30 minute film made back about '69. It was a bout some young bloke meeting a model. She was played by the wife to be of the late peter Cook. Judy ......... Anyone else remember this. It was set in and around Hampstead & Belsize park in London.

  • the best track he ever did but for some reason everyone thinks its the last waltz or release me. The melody of this song is so beautiful and with engelberts voice complete. As a ballad singer or crooner there is nobody better he sings every note and doesnt shout.

  • I love Engelbert and always have, I started listening to him when I was only 5 years old , I sat right beside the speaker to hear him better and i memorized the Last Waltz!! he will always be a good singer. I also believe that NO ONE has the right to put another individual down for anything or reason. He is one of the best!!

  • If I were an X singer, and people would write such a comments about me - as you do here , i´d be damn proud of myself. I think not the no.1 hits are the mirror of an artist´s heart, songs like this, shows how good the artist is, those " between no1´s " sonsg were always like an essence. Last Waltz is the only one song that´s better than this, but , it´s just my point of view.... Tons of feelings in his voice .....

  • Easily one of his best. Thanks for posting. Check out my channel for two of his great ones you rarely hear: "When There's No You " and "Too Beautiful To Last."

  • Beautiful song :o) Just saw him in concert. That voice is still magic :o)

  • sick song! love him

  • NR 1

  • I do not understand the whole song and it still sounds good. Bet i am not the only one. Says alot for the production arrangements and most of all Humperdinck voice. No one can sing a love song better.

  • A 1968 hit song........college days memories.

  • This guy was one of the big one's, on a par with elvis, sinatra, tom jones and matt monroe. Glad I lived the same time as them!

  • Arguably the best song Englebert ever recorded.

  • It's my favorite.

  • Hermosa voz y canciòn

  • HAPPY VALENTINES TO ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD...i LOVE YOU :)))
