Timo outplayed Wang Hao in the second and third set. Timo must do a lot of counter attack like in the second and third not just blocking like in the other set. I think Timo's fast drive and smash are very effective unlike the spinny loop which is not effective at all.
TheDouglasificatoin is absolutely correct Timo Boll lost his aggressiveness thats why he lost, nice match but Wang Hao too played very well. Like to add another point,Timo loses his aggressiveness at 3:31 and he also loses his confidence after some time. I also noticed that when Timo lost his aggressiveness and confidence Wang Hao got his concentration back.
Nice match! Well played@ Timo and Wang Hao ; GO TIMO!!
TheDouglasificatoin is absolutely correct Timo Boll lost his aggressiveness thats why he lost, nice match but Wang Hao too played very well. Nice match!
It's tough being Timo Boll. On a excellent day, he can probably beat 3 Chinese players, but never all 6 (W. Hao, W. Liqin, Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Ma Lin, Xu Xun). Unlike Waldner before him, he can never really give the Chinese a headache as they are too many Kong & Liu in this generation of Chinese players. Waldner used to dominate b/c he only had 2 great Chinese to beat. Now there are 6 of equal talents. Plus, Boll isn't nearly as good as Waldner was, but the Chinese are better than before.
dissapointed that timo could not pull this one off as in last vw cup......wang raised his level in the last three sets......any ways timo played well....
Very good vid. thanks!! XDD I think in the first 3 sets Timo Boll played at his own, or normal way of playing table tennis, and Wang Hao could just answer his good attacks in the 1st set. At the last three sets, he play too near to the table and was to fearfully, so wang hao could play on his own way. And you can see, that he gives up the game at 6:20 , because he just looks down, and haven't god his self-assurance he have to work at this, and he will be the next wttc champion!
Boll played well, a few mistakes here and there at crucial times, but that was more a result of the pressure he was under. Boll is one of my favourite players along with Zhang Jike. Wang Hao was simply outstanding in this match. Some of the angles on his returns were unbelievable, perceived incredibly quickly by Hao. It doesn't get much better than this.
Great! A top class match from two top class athletes! Wang Hao wins yet again, but now we see that Timo can keep the pressure up :) Can't wait till the World Championships later this year!!!
I guess I will be one of few having the following opinion:
In my point of view Boll is currently in the best shape of his career and, too, he was at 100% in this match. Watch how fast his reaction, his footwork, his strokes are. I think he had never played that fast before.
However, Wang Hao was too good. He played even faster. I mean: Did you sometimes also wonder "F**k, where is the ball?!?!" :D:D
Timo Boll will have good chances to place very well in Rotterdam, requiring he can maintain his
@kopfohnehirn youre right but wang hao got some more net/edge....and the miss server in last set was rly fail from boll so with little bit more luck boll can win this too....
du hast recht aber wang hao hatte nen bissl mehr glück....und der verkackte aufschlag im letzten satz war total naja.... mit nem bissl mehr glück würde boll des gewiinnen...:D
Timo wasn't at 100%, that's why he lost! I think Boll should have keep to Hao backhand and stayed way from his forehand, because Wang a penholder! Another win for China!
It may be just me, but it seems that the 2 sets that Boll won, he played a different game and then went back to his normal game for the rest of the match.
@LightSpeed99999 yes, totally, especially the 3rd set - boll was brutalizing wang hao, maybe it's just a preview of his play for wttc 2011 - if he can play like that chinese wall will fall
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Win or lose, Boll's mere presence in the match is by far the greater accomplishment. With a country like China, which draws from a pool of nearly 1/4 of the world's population, has little or no regard for human rights, and has for decades been nursing a dogged determination to lead the world in one of the few sports compatible with diminutive physical stature, it would be really weird if they didn't produce the best ping pong players on earth.
Even with Timo Boll "reaching his 95%" he brought Wang Hao right to the wire. The final score of 4-2 shows that Timo and all of the other top A-team Chinese players are real contenders for the 2011 Rotterdam WTTC.
I know this is cliche, but you just gotta practice. It really isn't as hard as you think it is trust me. In certain aspects, its a better and easier backhand shot than a Shakehand backhand. Watch more vids and read up on RPB. Most Penholders these days are adding it to their repertoire. Its fast becoming a must for a Penholder.
Difference is 25 points... That's not much, but enough for Boll to keep his No.1 position. Losing from Wang Hao cost Timo Boll 7 points... It depends on how many bonus points Wang Hao earns. If its more than 18, Wang Hao would be the new number one for April.
A very exciting match, like the semi-final women’s single match -- Li Xiaoxia vs Ai Fukuhara! Wang Hao is highly likely to be in the final of WTTC to defend his men’s single champion title this year. Who will be his opponent is everybody’s guess (e.g. Timo Boll, Zhang Jike, Xu Xin?) Right now, Wang Hao is on the top of the world. No question about it! #LOL
seriously ppl shudn't care abt who got the no.1 timo or wang hao, doesn't matter
liu guoliang said ma long got no.1 spot in a yr ago means nothing,, juz means the chinese team let him to play more tournaments, he apparently doesn't give a shit
they were sending the players to the last 5 opens, juz so they can line them up in the top 7 8 for olympic picks n stuff, none of them give a shit lol
I was disappointed with Wang's performance in this tournament...until the last three games of this match! He didn't really play that hard to beat Maze and Samsonov, but against Boll he really had to up the ante and the result was some awesome table tennis. Wang Hao has been my favorite player for a while, because of his incredible skill and style, and he really delivered here! I'm hoping Wang Hao takes #1 spot after this win =) Excellent videos btw, THANKS ttprovider.
timo is actually in top form, i thot he got a chance when i was watching live, needa keep the control tight, the returns, but wang hao changed quite a bit, n timo couldn't adaptwell, n back to the loop... timo definitely got some chance in olympics if there are only 2 chinese lol (2 competitors basically)
once wang hao starts looping hard, timo can only block or wait for an error
the commentator is basically bullshit, zero extra information, obviously biased, celebrating timo's net point lol..
@Fakeslimshady Yeah you're totally right... it's not like Timo's reached the final of every tounament he's entered this year. Or that he's won against Hao Shuah, Zhang Jike, Ma Lin, Ma Long etc.. all in a little over six months. Yep, he's just a sitting duck.
imo suck less Chinese dick and use your brain a little more.
@Merrlol "have a go" doesnt mean they would win. Timo is world number 1 and rightly so, im just saying its not fair the Chinese have so many players, each taking turns to have a go at him. With 7 players each capable of winning the World Championship in their team, of course one of them will eventually knock Timo out. Its not fair IMO
Wow, excellent play by Wang Hao. Even coming off a back injury he was able to clinch the win 4-2. He is the most centered PH player, doesn't like to get too far off center from the table and his stroke and technique is different enough to get him some extra points.
@gimplar Because TimoB is lefty player, Wang cannot go too left from the center. When playing against right hand players, Wang does position himself a little bit further left. IMHO.
