Jacob Kogan was amazing in this. He learned how to play the piano just for this movie and is playing it in all the scenes. Which, to my mind, is eerie enough.

This was such a great, under-rated movie. Gives me the creeps, everybody did a great job in this. It reminds me of movies that came out in the 50s and 60s, back when plot and acting were more important than CGI effects and budget.

Joshua was EVIL... thats it... it doesnt matter if you don't like your parents, you'd never tried to send them to jail or make them feel sick... HE DOESNT LOVE ANY ONE... He would do the same thing to his uncle... and poor Lily!

@dustydogg337 Not to put too sharp a point on it, but there was no hamster in this movie (there was a guinea pig that we never see, but the animal at the end is supposed to be a guinea pig). My sister killed my hamster with aspirin when I was a kid. A guinea pig is a much larger animal, which makes it freakier. His next stop is dogs, and then humans.

This ending makes me cry every time because it shows that Joshua wasn't evil. He just didn't feel that his parents loved him enough because they gave all of their affection and attention to the new baby. So, his bizarre behavior like collapsing at the talent show was a desperate attempt to get their attention. When that didn't work, he wanted to do everything he could to get away from his parents because the uncle was the only one that really showed he cared about Joshua.

@sassypuffcloudrox they show us first the gloves then they show us the dead thing, the man sees the animal and the paintings of the boy so he begins to think what's the wrong with this boy? so i think joshua was trying to make an Embalming for the animal just as the pharaoh stories he was obsessed in, thats clear when we see the thread in the animal's Abdomen

@JbsBestMoments nope. the guinea pig was just to show how sick the kid was. In an earlier scene, he was cutting up a stuffed panda bear and talking about death rituals to his father. that what it made me go back to.

Yo me refiero a una cancion sin voz.. era solo piano.. Joshua la estaba tocando en un show de la escuela o algo asi... era una melodia infantil.. y despues la transformaba de a poco en una melodia tragica..

El padre de joshua pensaba que estaba tocando mal las notas.. Pero su tio sabia que eran la correctas..

@Yinmeli Oh, yes. The scene at the talent show. He starts reciting Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, then begins to play what sounds like an off key version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with a flair of Bartok. I think it was his own creation, but I'm not sure. A great scene though.

Since the begining the boy wanted to stay with the " Uncle Ned ". You realize that in the end when he sings the whole sing. Basically says that he wanted to get rid of his parents and stay with who he always wanted, and then he looks to Ned. He did everything just to say with his uncle. Plus, he was like a super little genius, so he planned everything all along.
