NEED BEGINNER HELP -- I can't seem to see anything but the MENU or DISPLAY in the LCD monitor. This cam only shoots through the viewfinder?? Don't mind either way - just want to use it to the best of it's abilities. Thanks!
its mostly meant to have u see though the eyepiece but to see liveview push "set" once but its only on the settings on the dial above auto the manuals, the presets like flower it wont work on
how good is it in low light with the kit lens, will it take a reasonable pic of the milkyway at 3am in the sussex countryside on a cold winters night ?..if so its worth the £539:99,if i want a real camera for photography ill sell the car & get hasselblad..lol but for day to day im not spending any more than £600:00
its a real nice camera. The kit lens is fine but ya really cant say much more about it than that. It does have image stabalization which is nice for a kit lens. The pop up flash works pretty good but i recomend the gary fong diffuser with it.
the xsi camera has a more advanced sensor than the 40d--and the live view is 3rd generation as opposed to 2nd generation on the 40d-----digital cameras are allways moving forward-----sure its got a smaller body than the 40d but who cares ,image quality rules
wow live view is fucking gay. you're probably paying more for that stupid LCD screen and it's abilities than the camera and lens themselves. i'de rather pay half the price and keep my Rebel XT... oh and one final word.
who wants to look at a small screen instead of looking through a view finder? COME ON PEOPLE this is a fucking SLR not some girly compact.
I think you left out the fact that people do astro photography and the use of live view allows people to more easily focus on things such as the moon which would otherwise be more difficult through a viewfinder. Cause when you are dealing with objects such as that focusing is something that is very fine to adjust.
Incorrect - the small buffer of the Rebel series is not good, and image quality gets worse the more MP you try to cramp in a small buffer camera... images will contain more noise!
The 350D has less noise than the 400D for that fact alone, and images seem better for the 350D.
The 14 processing is nice, but we will see how image quality (IQ) will turn out on the 450D
ftpaddict---yes this camera is worth the price ---also look at the sigma 50-500mm telephoto zoom lens ---i got one and its fantastic---the best pro level glass for the price--enjoy

i have a EOS 100QD!!! back of 1993!!
god.. it take a fucking (sorry) good picture!!
i recelntly change to an EOS Rebel XTi with 10mpx. and the lens of 75-300mm that i had as optional on my 100 qd fits in XTi!!!
I can say that this is also a good investment cause if you have an old EOS the lens also fits ;) also the pic have god quality!!

If you want to shoot throught the lCD hold down the round select button for a second and you'll heat the mirror lift and voila.

Macro and Astro photographers need(better for them) live view. and yes night pictures also, not always but sometimes.

Ugh... what a crap camera. Who needs live view anyway? Buy a K200D, for Pete's sake.

Point taken, but I really doubt XSi users will go into astrophotography.

You never know. their are a lot of photographers.
PWNZORDIZED 4 years ago
Serious photographers would look at the 40D and such.
ftpaddict 4 years ago
Oh yeah, and the 40D also has a Live View mode! =)
