  • i come from a long line of mental illness from the women in my family .I have been trying to control my feeling of a lot of anxiety.I agree that slowing down to take care of your well being is the most important.

  • i have to poo

  • herbs....in moderation.

  • Hey! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got great Six pack abs and lost a lot of weight with it.

  • That looks relaxing. I need to find a massage therapist as good as Athena.

  • be sweet to Athena...jerks

  • Also the lungs are suspended by their attachments to the thorax...wow yeah, way too much LSD.

  • Your body also processed alcohol fairly easy, it has an enzyme for it.

  • This lady is always scolding people's lifestyles. That and providing grossly inaccurate statements about anatomical function. Too much LSD in the 60s....

  • Ugh you mess up this video talking the whole damn time!

  • @TakaToraBata I know. She used crepitus as an adjective...

  • Excellent massage therapists, and very soothing to watch.

But please stop making gross factual errors! Stress does not decrease the blood flow to the brain to the point that that there is only enough to the keep the tissue from undergoing necrosis. Stress has a very complex, multi-systemic impact, but neurologically largely involves neurotransmitters/receptors - not blood/oxygen delivery.

  • Or maybe my beers relax me as much as a massage :D

  • Watching that video was very relaxing and in my opinion Athena Jezik is the best massage therapist I've seen on these type of threads.

  • I wis I could get massages... my mom thinks of it as a reward thing and not a healing technique & yet spends over $100 on medication that makes me feel like complete crap, & it's not for anything important. I'm so stressed out & I feel like a massage would be so so beneficial...I wish my mom wasn't so shitty -.-

  • will these techniques work on rhomboid muscles? relieve the cracking noise every time i move my right shoulder or arm?

  • I like Athena Jezik's videos for the most part, and aside from her consistant grammatical errors in her videos (I'm a grammar Nazi), she overcompensates a massage for what it really is...a massage. If I had a virus, I wouldn't be seeing a therapist or getting a massage, I'd be seeing a doctor. That would be the logical thing to do.

  • So what, guys- she's entitled to her opinion. The woman gives great massages, and that's all we're here for anyway.

  • great video...but why such depressing music on the background!! ;-(

  • just watching this made my shoulders and back better!

  • Love these videos! I agree that western medicine does indeed need to change. We need to go to more preventative measures than simply managing diseases. Yes this may just be a massage, but for many people this could relieve incredible amounts of stress and help manage it. It has been scientifically proven stress takes a toll on your health, increased blood pressure, lowers immune system etc. Perhaps managing our stress could eliminate many diseases... And lose some weight america!

  • @bumpsy89 Way to take a ludicrously complex issue and boil it down into one glib statement. Jesus fuck, its just a massage, take it for what its worth, I hate to be that kind of asshole, but I really don't like it when people spout off factoids they heard from somewhere else without bothering to understand them first. Sure stress damages the immune system, but do you even understand the mechanism? That kind of thing is important, we can't just toss empiricism out the window.

  • @demonicspire1 I don't think these videos will help you relax buddy. Try Xanax 0.5mg TID. Also stop being a troll.

    Sincerely,

    The Pharmacist

  • @bumpsy89 Its trolling when you are joking, in this case I'm being entirely serious, and this woman IS a moron, that's hardly trolling given the ample evidence I have to support it, so go pop your pills elesewhere.

  • athena how do you loosen neck muscles

  • I love u Athena, one day, one day, I'm gonna get a massage from you....

  • She says "Uh..." and "Um.." too much. Athena seems like she a fine knowledge of the human anatomy, but she seems like she has trouble articulating what she does. I get the feeling she's an avid marijuana smoker.

  • Athena is just sharing a very basic stream-of-consciousness view that the majority of western people don't take very good care of themselves, and that we remain willfully ignorant of ways we can make ourselves feel better every day. She's not even saying anything crazy; just to "eat healthy food, enjoy indulgences in moderation, exercise and invest in the kind of self-care you might deny yourself because you think you don't have the resources". Not preachy, just good advice.

  • this lady babbles

  • You are wonderful

  • @ihave90days Preaching? Do you hear anything? Opinions and perspectives that you don't have is the wonderful thing about being free and sovereign. Listening to others perspectives can teach you a lot. I learn a lot from listening. A.

  • Athena you're great. So true about how we willingly pay for things that are bad for us, and not those that are good for us.

  • Shes great about message I wish I could go to her .

  • I love Athena!

  • Athena is more preachy all the time.

  • @TheGregEgg you call that a massage? looks like a rub to me.

  • @TheGregEgg If that is the way you hear things, perhaps some introspection is a good idea. As for the comment above.... if you haven't been under my hands, you really can't judge by watching. Experience is the way out of ignorance. Listening is the key to understanding.

  • under my left shoulder gets sore feels like a string of grissel, any clues for me as why and I do play some golf? Tom

  • @cameltryde Golf...Twisting happens in that sport. There is a torsion action from the foot/hip/back and into the shoulder. The 'grissel' is perhaps caused from the repetitive motion over time where the fascia has twisted in several directions. It may be a tendon that has tightened, if it is at the origin or insertion it could be lactic acid that has been 'walled off'.. It is difficult to say for sure without me looking at other structural patterns in your posture. Email me if more ???'s.

  • Ahhh.... time to sit down, relax, and enjoy Athena's video.

  • This was deep...plus I'm taking notes of these techniques and words for future use. Peace.

  • I had to stop watching this video because the amount of envy for the person receiving this massage was not heathy. I want a massage!

  • @readwriteread At least you are honest!!!!! Appreciate that... come to Austin!!!!!

  • "People who are not medicated are healthier." DUH!

  • @nitoro81 LOL. I was thinking the same thing.

  • I have this same confusion @ 3:52 - I have a few friends that are very unhealthy and continue to drink and smoke daily (avg $10/day - taking into account that they stop every now and then) and eat poorly (fast food), but something that will benefit their body and health, even if a one time fee, it is impossible to convince them or help them.

I really enjoyed your video. Good info and tips on massaging.

  • @wmike82 It's not your place to change how your friends live.

  • @TheGregEgg Who is changing them? What is wrong with educating them so they can make informed choices? I do not have the power to change anyone, and I know it is not my responsibility. The choice is entirely their path to walk, and the consequences or blessings will meet them along the way.

  • So great!

  • Shes a legend

  • @Londonbird87 lmao. TRUE

  • Wonderful! I live in Dallas and am very tempted to drive to Austin o receive a massage! Do you recommend anyone in the DFW area?

  • @rhino1234567899 CST/LDT can be found at upledger . com under "find a therapist". Otherwise no, I don't know anyone in Dallas, sorry. (many who are in the directory are also massage therapists. You will know that by the acronym LMT or RMT or MT)

  • how can you tell? Oh you know the anatomy of the body. This looks like a cool thing to learn.

  • That looks SO relaxing, makes me wanna go for a massage!

  • Wheres the Happy Ending?

  • You wise .

  • wonderful and very instructional as always thank you

  • @ninibestiole Thank you!!!! Athena

  • Great Video :)

  • @iixBUGGYxii Thank you for appreciating what I have to offer. Athena
