  • very interesting

  • How come no one read about DietOramy unwanted weight reduction plan program? I was aimlessly using Google and came across it - I must say it really is the first healthy eating plan that I have tried using that doesn't make me feel constantly hungry, and I am nevertheless losing fat.

  • if the body becomes so clean when eating a frutarian/vegan why there is a reaction to cooked foods? If the organs are working perfectly would be expecte to have no problems just eating one cooked meal?? Thanks :)

  • try only drinking mountain dew for a year then drink water, you will probably throw up... you been on this diet for a year lol, you do not know anything about it yet. Lebron james could eat frito lays for a year and still be the best player in the nba... The fruits your eating have only existed for a few hundred years. This diet is new age test tube diet at best. Can it work.. i dont know, is it natrual GOD NO

  • @HappierHealthierYou Lol so what, are Fritos and Mountain Dew more natural than FRUIT? Gorillas eat mostly fruit. and we are descended from apes. HMMM....

  • @squeakyla im saying how he only ate fruit for a year then ate anything else there is going to be problems, also a year is nooo time, and fruit does not exist like that in nature! fruit in naute is bitter, has massive seeds, and very rare, if gorcery store bananas were in naute insects wpuld destroy that sugar in two seconds, if this diet is working for you i am happy! but acknowledge this is a new age experiment and do not get caught in a dogma! listen to your body, chnage things if u need 2!

  • @squeakyla lol definetly don't listen to that ignorant person, he/she is a troll and knows nothing about what diet we are meant to eat. "fruit in nature is bitter", how the heck would he/she know how bananas and oranges taste in a jungle somewhere in Ecuador or Brazil? LMAO. :)

  • its so good. that you have had this experience together. when we see how you love each other in nowdays. you are fantastic mikeal

  • you should have went all out and had a meatball parmesan and some lasagna

  • How come everyone on this 801010 diet looks very starved? Even Dr. Doug looks very scrawny in spite of being able to do some fairly basic gymnastics and pull ups.

  • Very good man thanks :)

I'm curious as to why you originally changed your diet? I ask because of course I think many people do it due originally to issues with Western foods. I have some kind of Candida-esque IBS with related problems and that's why I'm doing it, and for some it might be weight loss, Crohn's, gluten issues, etc.

    Just wondering :)

Great video though and keep up the good food! ^^

  • you have an eating disorder

  • @belrich08 Eating natural foods as much as he does is an eating disorder? LOL get real.

  • @belrich08 You really think with all the awesome endurance & physical transformation this man has been through, all the vitality he has experienced that he has an eating disorder? Have You seen his other vids on all the benefits of this diet? Perhaps Your taking out of context? These symptoms are common when eating normal cooked food after a long period of all raw, the body goes into accelerated detox mode, check it out.

  • @belrich08 I'd say most Americans have "eating disorders" addicted to all the junk food, all the "food" that is made for just profit and taste addiction, nothing to do with nutrition, thats eating disorders. He is just being honest about what happens when someone who eats pure raw starts to eat cooked & processed food. If he continued he would get "used to it" like most of us, that doesn't mean it's the healthiest choice for him just because he acclimates to cooked food.

  • why are you blaming your wife.... ???? u make your choices....

  • @devrygal He never said he blamed his wife, he was trying to make her happy by compromising his diet one day for their anniversary. Compromise, not blaming is what tends to keep marriages thriving. Obviously compromising in the area of diet wasn't the best thing in this case, but at least he tried, sounds like Ur not giving him much credit?

  • Funny story man, but not a good conclusion. I didn't have any reaction from eating cooked food after being raw vegan for 13 mos, maybe it was just the salt/oils not the content of the food itself. Also it takes time getting used to. Some people don't feel good initlaly on a raw food diet!

  • Another reason I'm being turned off from this diet is... who has time to eat fruit all day long when we need to be working only allowed 1 break and 1 lunch during the day. Some people need to be out in the field working on their ranches with horses, livestock, gardening, hobbies etc... and can't carry 30 bananas in their pockets with them. We need more slow burning, longer lasting stamina food to keep our body going & mind sharp. Otherwise, it's a tasty fun sweet diet

  • Good for you being there for your wife, FYI typical typical dark chocolate has dairy in it... i learned the hard way. if you look at candy on store shelves unless it says dairy free, most has it including dark choc. I'm sure this experience reminds you why you eat what works for YOU

  • @lovsoup I suggest you use Carob instead that chocolate, it is more healthy and more tasty, you just have to get used to the small transition, it is naturally sweet as well. =)

  • @Mekelsior Thanks for the tip on using Carob instead of Chocolate. But, it definitely upsets my stomach with too much flatulence/bloating. I've tried many times over a couple years span. I've researched and found that some people do react to it that way... which is one reason David Wolfe removed it from his Sunfood is Shining Superfood formula. designed by owner of Healthforce who made Vitamineral Green. They are the same except David wanted more probiotics and no carob.

  • @lovsoup Any time :) Personally I don`t use either as much, never been into desserts and that kind of stuff.. fruit is more than good enough for me :) I`m on a semi Raw McDougall kind of style right now, I find it quite filling until I can find myself in the tropics. =)

  • Why didn't you go to a raw vegan restaurant? I thought there were tons in NYC...

  • It's shocking how much salt is in everything and how apparent that becomes once you start eating clean for even a few weeks.

  • Question:

You eat salt tabs when you run though right? Wy don't they make you feel like this? or why don't you just hop on the treadmill and blast it out?

Heavy salt makes my kneecaps feel like they're going to pop off. This became ever more apparent after going 811.

  • how much weight did you lose in 13 months?

  • I have had similar experiences after eating cooked food. ie burning up, waking up with eyes and face puffed up, fatigued etc. However if I keep off the salt and fat ie follow 80 10 10 on cooked food I'm ok. I do eat mostly low fat raw though, that makes me thrive!

  • @Chaaarge:

Or you are eating too much..

  • another thing I noticed after switching to eating something cooked (since I'm not 100% raw) is that I get some heavy breathing. And I get a huge belly! The abs are like completely gone. I think it's water retention from all the sodium.

  • @Chaaarge

    this video is Hillarious lol

  • hey marnstein, mahalo for the open and honest comments....sounds similar to what i experienced under similar circumstances....once we know our body better thru awareness, is not easy to go retrograde and not feel some degree of hangover....testing one two, the story continues....happy wellness in all ways, always.....stop by earth releaf if ever in hawaii for some fresh fruit....aloha, forest

  • I was raw vegan for 6 months, then tried other stuff. I have no problem with going back to meat/fish/poultry - but cooked grains are killer. Makes you feel so heavy, tired and sluggish. Stomach hurt to. But cooked meat alone (with fresh veggies) were fine. Guess I have paleolitic (stoneage) genes!

  • congrats and thanks very much for the honesty and anecdotes, they are helping me! :)

  • go liquidarian! I favorited some vids on breatharianism you really ought to check out.

Raw food is 90% water... to me, that's the answer to the holy grail... exercise and fasting.

  • i tried it like a month ago and lasted like 3 days, it doesnt help that i only like a few vegetables either, i was just craving pasta and my chocolatechip gronola bars lol

  • @126mx but for the few days i stayed on diet i felt great

  • OMG, i can soooo relate. And ive only been on 811 for like 5 weeks, and last week i decided to integrate cooked food in the form of bread, and im still sick. Even tough the bread was great tasting, i still cannot get over how weird my body felt afterwards, and how dizzy i was, and bloated!! So as of today im back on 811. For the whole week i kept asking myself, is this worth it? AFTER i ate the bread, mind you. And every single time i decided, no, its not.

  • Garlic, raw onions, and herbs like parsley, basil, etc are not naturally liked by most humans and thus just aren't natural. They all contain alkaloids or some other poison that your body wants to get rid of. Chocolate is quite bitter and would never be eaten without the loads of sugar and cream that have to accompany it. Coffee is another example.

Please note I'm not judging anyone. I'm still in transition to raw fruitarianism and I still drink a little coffee every day.

  • @ClefDeDavid88

I love the taste of raw basil!

It's nice blended with some fresh toms as a raw sauce.

  • Amazing how in shape you are on 80-10-10......just goes to prove that is is safe and also a personal choice, but that it may work great for some people. May i ask you, though, what is your opinion of teeth problems on a fruitarian diet??

  • Lovely! I can so feel with you here...when i ate a cooked meal in the restaurant after 4 month of being 95% raw....boy the tip of my tongue paralized :O Love to both of you! Your doing great!

  • Hahahaha sounds like a beautiful anniversary experience! All the more laughs =]

  • what does 801010 mean? Seen a couple of videos on here BUT no one's explained the numbers......did something monumental occur on the 10th of October 1980? No.....that would be 101080 wouldn't it??

The reactiion to the cooked restaurant meal......could that be due to the body becoming used to a certain diet and just reacting to the sudden and brusque change in diet rather than the food itself? Or possibly a bit of both.....

  • @theselector

i believe it means 80% calories from carbs, 10% calories from protein, 10% calories from sugar.

but i'm not totally certain. i guess ideally, even less than 10% on protein/sugar

  • @theselector 801010 means 80% calories from carbs, 10% calories from protein, and 10% calories from fat

  • This guy on this vid, he just ran a 2:31 marathon to win the Napa Valley Marathon 2010. March.

This dude would know what is affecting his body cos he is so highly tuned.

  • can you be sure that it was nt just mental? your beliefs about salt and cooked foods subconsciously affected you and your reaction....been raw juicer for a while too and when i came back to my parents i dreaded every mouthful of my mums cooking but tried to smile through it...constipated for days inconsistent sleep and digestion, a real mess, the actual food or my current belief system? maybe both but once you know what you know its impossible to go back. nice post!

  • Wow. That's scary. It's interesting that that wouldn't happen (or maybe just goes unnoticed) by one who does eat cook food often. It is amazing how our bodies adapt to things. Thanks for sharing!

  • LOL! Great video!

  • Thanks for the honesty. You are one brave dude to experiment thins. I won't do it for heaps of money in exchange, ha. I have heard horror stories of people who were long term raw getting VIOLENTLY ILL, some near death, from ingesting cooked food after being off it so long - it's called intolerance and it builds as we detox. It just goes to show how toxic cooked/altered and fake foods really are. I'm glad you stuck to your vegan morals throughout it all. Long live eating like Eden - raw vegan!

  • oh he is a vegan above all. he won't break that for anything. but anyway, see our new vid where I break down after faling off the 811 wagon!

  • Your Wife is a keeper, so is the diet happy 10th dude!

  • uh yeah dear, I recall the night well as you went into a food coma the next day and before you ate the cooked food(bread with hummos on the table) I said" Are you sure you wanna do that? Don't feel like I am pressuring you to do this honey" and you replied, "No, it is ok, we are here on our tenth anniversary" Any nobody had a gun to your head honey pie:))))) you tell yourself what you want to do and you do it period. I have no judgements though. I didn't care what you wanted to do.

  • flutingaround> this is his wife and I never wanted him to break his raw food diet.NEVER...it was all HIM. He was very curious as to how it would feel and taste wafter a year of being raw. i wanted to eat at a restaurant when I ate cooked and I needed him to be there for our 10 yr anniversary. He was used to getting a salad and it was al up to him. I promise!!

  • Uh, 'honey' you know how excited you were when I said I would 'put aside' my diet for a day so you can have a 'traditional' evening with your husband on our anniversary... you were all super 'really, oh wow, ok wow' excited ;)

But to be fair, surely I had some wonder of how my body would react, and now after the experience I won't be offering up that 'put my diet aside' again... 20 year anniversary is going to be at a fruit orchard this time! :)

  • Did your wife really want you to break your diet? I would never wish cooked foods on the ones I care for. How strange. It would have been a much nicer story if both of you decided on a place together, and one that had raw food offerings.

  • Thatwasa my Arestraunta,Whata youa saying about my Fooda!!.Ha Ha!.Blessings X

  • Last night I had watermelon, honeydew melon, persimmons, dates, then potato chips, toast, jalapeno pickles, fried tofu with condiments, cookies, pastries. This was after a 10 day juice fast and a 1 day water fast. I was visiting my family and they had a party that day so there was food laid out everywhere in the house hehe. That night I had a bad headache and had a lot of mucus in my throat and lots of snot in my nose, and my throat was so sore when I woke up this morning. haha that was fun.

  • thank you

  • Thank you for sharing!

Very interesting to learn from experience.

  • you should have thrown up and got it out of your system !

  • I've been raw for 3 or 4 years and it's kind of hard on my mom because she loves (LOVES) to cook. She said that she would lay off of me if I gave her one day out of the year that she could cook for me...Thanksgiving. I told her I would NOT eat turkey but I would have some green bean casserole and mashed potatoes. She was so happy she teared up! I eat just a bit and then passed out and sweated for a couple hours-I had to fast the next day too! It was worth it tho to see her so happy :)

  • it's always interesting to see what makes other people happy, even if they love you.

  • Funny and educational...thanks man. Your a good man.

  • How long ago was the event?

I ilke your videos a lot, what a reality check.

  • I had this meal in Feb 09, I made this video in May 09

  • Every time I hear someone talk, they only care about food. Im on the raw food diet but I don't talk about it much. Anytime I see a raw fooder, that is all the talk about. People on the standard diet don't dedicate their life to food. Its good to see that their are more important things in your life then food. Food and water just keeps us going for the more important things in life.

  • It's interesting, something made me click on your name and it appears you are a Christian? If so, then that's why, because you realize how self-centered the talk is to obsess over food. You can have interests, but don't let them dominate you.

  • What an irrelevant comment. He is trying to share an experience with everyone.

  • thanks for sticking up for me. I am his wife and I appreciate it!

  • Mike, welcome back. Haha, oh man, I was laughing the whole way with ya. The bloating is so real, and the thirst was obviously from the salt. I did 8/1/1 100% for 6 months in 2006 and am now on it again with the exception of a couple cooked meals (all vegan) on weekends and for some reason it doesn't seem to be the same at all (though that's how I decided to do it this time around) - no noticeable high energy, weight not coming off, etc. Amazing how just a few cooked meals can make a difference.

  • it makes so much sense. I'm the same way with the vegan thing. It's not something I would break under any circumstance.

  • I'm feeling your pain bro! For me it was just 1/2 of a vegan cookie from Whole Foods!

  • Very Interesting. Thanks!

  • Thanks for sharing your experience.
