I just realized that it is you! I see a song from bootleg bash. I remember watching that game on youtube! Anyways, thank you so much for posting your stuff on openart(dot)moosader(dot)com I recommend everyone check it out and contribute!
LusikkaMage, are you by any chance the Rachel J Morris that is moosader? I remember seeing you years ago when I watched some indie game makers on youtube and you had that one mudkip game. Anyways, if you are moosader, I want to personally thank you so much for your music and sprites. It makes my job as a programming SO much more easier.
Collision detection is a little sensitive, but not bad. Sometimes when dying I would respawn on top of something that would kill me which was a bit annoying. The force fields need to last longer. Didn't like how I had to restart the whole program just to play again. But still a cool concept and seems to be coded well. So good job :)
funny thing is Crysis Warhead wasn't made in one morning HA! and by the way... you're obviously just another lowlife who thinks hes cool just cause he posted another lameass comment on youtube HA?!
Do you think it woulkd be hard for that Daphne in space; or at least would there be alot of code involved to make your bullets not fly through enemies? Maybe just terminate themselves at impact?
very interesting. it's good to see a user with such as vast array of homemade games. i'm fairly new to game programming (mainly because i've been learning just how to program since I was about 13) but its clear how high quality the software your making actually is.
Nah, I have a fixed maximum amount. I can pretty much tell there won't be more than 100 things on screen, and it's just a little sample game so I didn't bother with anything fancier.

@KowaiTori Aye, I am the Moosader :o My video tutorials are on this channel, but eventually I will move them to my new "CoderRach" channel.
I had decided that the mudkip tutorial was poopeh, so I worked on "Beginner's Guide to Game Programming" video tutorials instead.
Glad my tutorials helped. :)

After trying to learn programming I can truly appreciate the amount of effort you have put in. Well done mate.

I love shmups so I decided to give this one a try but there's a problem. I can't see the character and that makes the game a bit harder to play.
And why the name LusikkaMage? I thought you were Finnish when I saw the name

This is a pretty fun little shooter, and seriously, how can you not love a game where the executable file is named "DaphneSmellsFunny.exe"?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Shit game!!! , Compare it to Crysis Warhead HA?!

Who cares if it's not as great as *changes game name* HALF LIFE 2.
The point of this game is that:
I can code.
And you cannot.

That was fun to watch! I have to say though, I did find it amusing to see cars, burgers, and cats in space. :D

Yay, really late response! Sorry!
No it'd be pretty easy to have the bullets stop when they hit enemies. Just give bullets a "bool active" or "bool visible" attribute.

Oh, this is such a low-quality game. ^^;
But thank you for the kind words, hehe. I hope to make some better stuff over the summer. :D

i bet i could make a clone in darkbasic if it's ok.
asams12 4 years ago
If you want to. o_o
Gradius would probably be a better game to model stuff after, though. ^^;
LusikkaMage 4 years ago
im ok with cloning but im not very good at sprites could you do a tutorial if you have some time?
asams12 4 years ago
I can try. Anything in particular? (ie animating them, or just drawing them?)
The sprites for this game were done in Macromedia Flash, but most of my games have pixely sprites.
