great- sounds like it should have been a demo tune! although it used to annoy me that companies like yamaha and casio put demo tunes on their keyboards that went physically possible by the user
I got the CZ-101 in the mail, however the keyboard seems more flimsily put together than the MT-240. I don't know if it's just this unit (meaning I got a lemon) or this is what all CZ-101's are. It also has a pretty loud hum in the headphone output. The line out is okay, but the headphone output is not. Honestly, I like the MT-240, and HT-700 much more than the CZ-101.
Thanks for your detailed answer about the CZ-101 keyboard. I finally took the plunge and bought the CZ-101 on eBay. Still waiting for it. I also have a CT-240 and HT-700, which is kind of ince with its resonant filter. It can do some really buzzy analog sounds, too. Of course, I can't stress enough how I like your arrangements as well as video editing. You give all the sounds their space, unlike many people, including myself, who mix down to one unlistenable blob of sound....
Doing a good mix is something that comes with practice. When I listen to some of my old recordings from the mid 1990's I can say for sure that I would have done it differently today. Back then I had a "Jarre-Complex" that caused me to over-fill allmost every melody with synthetic strings. Later the drums were often too powerfull. But today I try not to overdo things in any way.
It seems like the CZ-101 has slighly larger keys than the MT-240, and the keys go down a little deeper on the CZ-101 as well. That means more playability. Is that correct?
The whole key mechanism is different on the CZ-101. On the "toy" models all the keys are molded as two pieces - one black and one white - and there is no return spring. Only the springyness of the plastic. The CZ-101 has a piece of plastic foam that acts as a spring and the keys are molded separately. I will not say that it is more playable because that spring-foam is not a perfect solution. But the keys themselves feels more "proffesional".
Hi, i found my casio SA-20 back on the attic and it still works :) its just way to old but it rocks!
But does anyone know how to connect it to your computer? I see the guy in the movie has been able to connect it to his pc... Anyone that can help me out?
The SA-20 has a headphone socket on the backside. But how you connect this to a PC depends on the kind of PC you have. If you are lucky there is a LINE IN socket on the PC that can accept the relatively powerfull headphone signal. But if the PC only has a microphone socket -or if the LINE IN is too sensitive - you need to send the sound through an attenuator or a mixer that fits the PC in order to get the right level.
Yo man this is HILARIOUS! I love it man, it's crackin' me up how much it sounds like something at a haunted house or a carnival LOL! Love the instruments.
I have the MP3 files I used to make this video (and the other CASIO videos).
However, it is not full CD quality because when I made the music three years ago I used analogue tape for recording. But I have transferred it to MP3 and the sound is not perfect but still much better than what you can hear in this video - brighter and in stereo.
I really like this! Because of my older sisters I grew up hearing a lot of Ace of Base. You've inspired me to try something similar... I think I might.
and man that song used to DRIVE ME CRAZY (well still does) the ten goddamn years it played in europe (and southern Turkey in particular)....
i myself have/had a lil casio addition for a minute and got around 20 of those guys..mostly the really old stuff thou....a few of them are amazing in my opinion..particularily the 410v, mt-45, cz101 (which is in the video), mt-65/68 and suprisingly the mt 240 (which i thought would be very bad..i have a circuit bent version that actually has a filter mod
I think more in the lines of "what could I make if had enough time"? I have a number of instruments where I have only tried out a small part of the posibilities simply because it's quite time consuming to fiddle around with the knobs and buttons.
Congratulations, you are a genius, to do a professional song with keyboards of toy it(he,she) is not easy, your you have talent, it is an Electone or a mini Casio you do a good work. (Very good the video and the quality of the sound) is your better work. Thank you.
Awesome! Love the arrangement.
