  • Horriblr and dissapointing...Cocteau twis did a way better job than this guy nuff said

  • The Cocktailbar Version of this song. But, OK, Bryan Fyrery rules OK. Check out the original by TIM BUCKLEY!

  • Leave it to Mr. Ferry to provide us with the best version ever of this song. Perfectly realized. "Olympia" is a fine album.

  • @Pacisdiligo la migliore versione? come cover forse...BUCKLEY è l ASSOLUTO!!!

  • Super piosenka************dziekuje pozdrawiam:-)

  • a little weak sorry

  • didn't knew this cover of his gret song!...

    brian still kik arses!

  • յախք :P

  • Leave it alone Ferry!

  • I love this album, having re-discovered Bryan Ferry after many years.

  • over produced, takes away the essence of the lament, great voice though, but doesn't alter the OTT production, way to much going on and frankly it sounds to me like he is reading the lyrics while singing, Bryan isn't quite in the 'Zone' and he's way to self conscious, making sure he gets those warbles that he's famous for.. I can say that because i know him, and he owes me a pint too.. Bryan.. That'll be a stella thanks.

  • @TheOUTpsiDER Well, with a friend like you, who needs enemies? I defend this version.

  • Love Ferry & Roxy M...always!!!!!!!!!

  • I've only just discovered that this is also a Ferry song... wow. I've always liked Ferry, but have been a fan of Buckley for years.

This version is awesome! So perfect for Bryan's fast vibrating vocal folds.

  • his voice!!

  • i get lost in this, lost.....

  • what an amazing production, Ive been familiar with this Tim Buckley song for years but have only just discovered this version, fantastic!

  • if bryan ferry wasn't there, i don't know where i would have gone. i know that will make sense to anyone who reads this message; he's my idol, my dream, my best friend, my companion. He's an icon who walks along among the world of the real and the unreal, he's an enigma. But more than that, Bryan is just a man who makes music so beautiful that all you want to do is have it in your head no matter what you do or where you go or who you see. He's a walking angel.

  • @dkstojentin Mine too for many many years I get what you are saying totally

  • David Gilmour with Brian Ferry? Brilliant!

    Great Cover.

  • The album cover is classic Ferry / Roxy Music. He / they sure love their sirens. Romanticism is one of the pillars of rock, and nobody does it better than Mr. Ferry.

  • I'm seeing him in concert on Sunday!!! I'm gonna piss my pants!!

  • Mr. Bryan Ferry is the man of my dreams. When the world gets heavy I ask Bryan to sing for me. He never disappoints.

The first time I saw him in concert in Northern California, I thought no mortal man could possibly live up to my expectations, yet my Bryan surpassed them. I will be at your concert on October 15 and as near to you as I possibly can!

    Love you

    Frances

  • @Frances1964able get a life saddo

  • fave song off the album so far!! def roxy riffs in the background Bryan still has it-keep rocking!!

  • I like the beginning but toward the end it sounds like it's going to break into 'Slave To Love' at any moment. And I do not like that.

  • Shit.

    Fucking shit.

    Fucking horrible shit.

How to completely destroy a beautiful song.

    What a travesty.

  • @toomuchrose In your opinion :) That is the beauty of music, that subtle interpretation can be taken by different people.I appreciate your opinion, but the lack of nuance to your perspective and the three mentions of human waste.......well sometimes its all about the music.....a beautiful song cover, in any case by the maestro of smooth :)

  • @toomuchrose then wipe your ass...

  • @801liveable Sure, just bring your fucking ugly face round anytime and I'll wipe my arse on it with pleasure.

  • @toomuchrose where do you live?

  • @801liveable Up your street chum, ready?

  • @toomuchrose relax pal, you don't want to tussle with me..just cop a walk and listen to some TIM BUCKLEY..hey, how bout SONG TO THE SIREN?..

  • @toomuchrose oops, just found out..i'll be over in about 8 hours, BLOKE..

  • ''one of those songs where every cover is good.'' well... NOT THIS ONE! it sucks!

  • BRYAN FERRY, did this rendition long before "OLYMPIA" WAS RELEASED...

2005..2007..2008..2009..what's the difference this cover is still great with that "ferry" TOUCH..

  • Muy bueno!!! Simplemente glorioso, con clase, brillante!!!!!!

    Great singer!!!!

  • I respect Ferry's covers because he stays true to the original vision of the song. Take "Jealous Guy", for example, he left that completely intact---just added the glam spark that his voice always has.

  • @hightimesbruce liked his cover of I Put A Spell On You, with Robin Trower on guitar from the Taxi album

  • Approaching the songs of Buckley have tried many. Some more than others have contributed their poetry extolling the expansion of this song. What makes Ferry Simply, in this song makes it light and returning light to a melody full of stsso time ... as only he can do.

  • Cheesy, Frusciante is better.

  • the symphony of guitars in this version takes it to a new level

  • like this on the album it lasts 555 my magic number

  • like this on the album it lasts 555

  • Different version from Cockteau twins, i like more

  • The four people , who dislike this song/Artist are probably Justin Bieber or Paris Hilton fans

  • I prefer this mortal coil, or even better, Robert Plant version. And I don't speak about the ORIGINAL one.

Bryan is far away with this one.

  • Brian Ferry? I gotta ask - did anybody NOT cover this song? ^_^

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving All we need now is Cannibal Corpse to cover this song =:D

  • Oh Bryan I love your new album, and particuarly this song. You are like bottle of wine, getting better and better by the years go by! I"m your greatest fan on planet earth!!!

  • Bryan is great !

  • Old great Bryan Ferry! Pure class and the best version of one of the best song ever made

  • FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!! THANKS BRYAN !!!!!!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!

  • Will the three people who disliked this track please try and get a life.

  • Sincerly, I have nothing against Mr. Ferry in general, but I get very angry the first time I heard this. I have the impression that the very emotional substance of the song is gone away. Too sophisticated and sterile. I love the original version by Tim Buckley and I want This Mortal Coil's one to be played at my funeral. Here, I just have the impression to listen to a Coktail party's ending song. But, despite all that, I can assure you that I have a life. ;o)

  • @cornflakrgirl82 AND a freakin' cool username too!

  • @EmmaEasterling ;o)

  • Still not better than This Mortal Coil or even the original by Tim Buckley. Only certain people can sing this song.

  • a brand new track for mr BF.......search for ANDREA POGGI (Ambition)

from an old fan of yours......next time'll be the best time.....

  • Beautiful cover of a great song. Bryan definitely made it his own and, in my opinion, improved upon it. "Olympia" is a wonderful album. If you don't have it, GET IT.

  • AMAZING! SLAVE TO LOVE, EAT YOUR HEART OUT. The music continues to go beyond whats possible and imaginable. Thanks Bryan, now please come to Texas!

  • Awesome! I was looking this song for about 10 days! Heard some beautiful night on Polish Trójka at 3.am ;)

  • This stuff, the music is great fun. The 'reformed Roxy Music will exceed the undoubted style of previous excellence

  • Well, everyone familiar with Bryan's personal and musical history (Jerry Hall, his reinterpretation of other artists material) knew that eventually this one was going to happen. 35 years in the making and worth the wait, it captures the mystical spirit of the lyrics in such a haunting way that it was surely inspired by the private events in the late 1970s that transformed Ferry's life and sound. Another perfect example of BF's genius.

  • I actually really like this version. Tims is still my fave but I like the CZars version and

    John Frusciante's verion :)

  • girls sigh when I play this............

  • could not find Robert Plant... such a shame... best version, I believe

  • can't wait to see him in manchester

  • <3 Kate Moss

  • Just love this.......genius wow

  • Terrific version....try Lemonmoon "Song to the siren" equally haunting

  • Просто нет слов!!!!!офигительно!!!!

  • doffincodger, I thought that was Natasha Poly from upside down, but you're right... that's kate moss!

  • Kate Moss is'nt your best album cover! Yet your latest music is somewhat magical !

  • @doffincodger Ferry's covers have always been a puzzle. The songs are deeply substantial (for pop-rock) but the covers have typically been stylishly vacuous.

Still, if you're going to do stylish vacuousness, Kate's your girl. ;-)

    Fantastic song, fantastic treatment.

  • Wow. Finally a song that i've been waiting for since Momouna CD release.

  • this whole album is glorious. such a romantic. beautiful voice, beautiful man. it doesn't get any better than this. Bottle of wine conversation.... need i say more...?

  • The Master's re-embracement and re-development of this one is quite remarkable really, on 9th February 1981 my mind was overtaken by his overwhelming tribute to John Lennon, which became my favourite song of all time, until now, the best compliment that I can pay this one is that it is running a dead-heat, Please Bryan incorporate this into your forthcoming planned Roxy sets for your 2 gigs in Glasgow at the end of January, surely this man is The Son Of God.

  • Fucking brilliant!I cant stop listening to this.

  • @grahamgfm yup

  • @grahamgfm try tim buckley original then cocteau twins then the first entire 5 roxy musicalbums m8

  • It's a very magic version for me, like "is your love strong enough". Amazing song, lyric and Bryan's voice.

  • robert plant's version is amazing

  • Agreed LIZ ONLY for this one.

  • No Soul; the worst cover ever.

  • Great Song!

  • amazing

  • Love Ferry. Love the song even more. But the two together.....Not for me. Will stick to the This Mortal Coil version.

  • Great song, originally by Tim Buckley but previously covered by, among others, This Mortal Coil, which IMO was the best version.

Ferry makes this sound exactly like "Avalon". Well, that's his trademark sound, so he's wise to stick with what he knows works.

    Nice.
