Incredible voice and production....a legendary performance that silences the nonsense that purports to be music and invades our lives in the 21st century...
This song is Orbisonian in its reach for the heavens. Thanks Scott, John and Gary, for taking us along on the ride. I'll never forget the first night I heard this song at a party in Nice, holding Christiane Grancetti so tightly as we slow-danced and discovered each other.
i love every thing they ever did went 2 c all the gigs .met john lovely man gary so sweet but never scott . well sat at the same table at ronnie scotts clubs ,
Sadly John has passed away in L.A. at the age of 67 after suffering Liver cancer . His wife Cynthia and family were at his side . John's real name was John Maus . Scott is Scott Engel and Gary is Gary Leeds . They were the greatest . Fabulous harmonies from awesome singers and brilliant instrumentalists .
R.I.P. John . thank you for the beautiful music and the memories
@groovygrovite Went to see John Walker perform at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton, England a few years ago - and I was amazed at the strength of voice he still had. Bryan Hyland was there and he impressed me too - he had moved on with his music somewhat. Walker Bros. music - so sixties!!! My era, needless to say.
@Dave123444 Hey, I saw John at the same venue a fair few years ago. He played a great gig. It may have been an earlier concert than yours because I didn't see Bryan Hyland but I do remember Screaming Lord Sutch and Jet Harris. Happy times. These guys don't last forever but the music does live on !!
@bloderme You are right about the name. But I'm sure he died, I'm afraid. It was announced on BBC and you can check other comments on Walker Brothers songs. I am sorry.......
Nice. Gary Leeds was a good friend of my brother in Sunland, CA. I remember him as being a nice guy and nice to me even though I was 6 years younger. I had no idea he had such a varied career! Did they ever Rock or was it ballads only? RIP to John and a hello to Gary.
If there was ever a cool fountain that washed music over you this is it, close your eyes catch the vision, beautiful. Thank you God for blessing Scott with that voice. Surely the voice of an Angel.

I can see me standing in the blue room in Blackpool with all the students that use to gather in there and one ot two posers.whose party are we gate crashing tonight. love scott walkers voice.
Speak for yourself crazystarwarsguy1006! I was 13/14 at the time, a classically trained pianist and attending a high school for gifted students and I was certainly not alone in my admiration for - e.g not being oblivious to - the incredible orchestration of all WB songs....And yes, I was a 'girl' :-))
Thanks rovingeye2 for putting this song on YouTube!
Lorraine Ellison's version is nothing short of phenomenal but so is the Walker Brothers version. There are so many various criteria upon which to judge a work of art, but in the final analysis, is boils down to which one would I personally rather listen to. For you it's the Lrraine Ellison version, and for me it's the Walker Brothers version. But, I can't say one is any better because they are both superlative for different reasons.

"Who did you touch
When you needed tenderness?
I gave you so much
And in return
I found happiness
Baby, what did I do?
May I was too good, just too good for you.."
